63:1


إِذَا When

Itha

جَآءَكَ come to you

jaaka

الْمُنَافِقُونَ the hypocrites

قَالُواْ they say

نَشْهَدُ We testify

nashhadu

إِنَّكَ that you

innaka

لَرَسُولُ (are) surely (the) Messenger

اللهِ (of) Allah

Allahi
أ ل ه
وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
يَعْلَمُ knows

yaAAlamu
ع ل م
إِنَّكَ that you

innaka

لَرَسُولُهُۥ (are) surely His Messenger

larasooluhu
ر س ل
وَٱللّٰهُ and Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
يَشْهَدُ testifies

yashhadu

إِنَّ that

inna

الْمُنَافِقِينَ the hypocrites

لَكَاذِبُونَ (are) surely liars

جَاءَ نفق قَالَ شَهِدَ رَسِلَ إِله إِلَٰه علِم رَسِلَ إِلَٰه شَهِدَ نفق كَذَبَ


When the hypocrites come to you, saying, “We give witness genuinely that you are the Messenger of Allah,” Allah knows that, indeed, you are His Messenger, and Allah Bears witness that the hypocrites are liars. (Hypocrites do not believe that you are the Prophet and Messenger of Allah.)

63:2


اتَّخَذُوٓاْ They take

أَيْمَانَهُمْ their oaths

aymanahum
ي م ن
جُنَّةً (as) a cover

junnatan
ج ن ن
فَصَدُّوا so they turn away

fasaddoo
ص د د
عَن from

AAan

سَبِيلِ (the) Way

sabeeli
س ب ل
اللهِ (of) Allah

Allahi
أ ل ه
إِنَّهُمْ Indeed [they]

innahum

سَآءَ evil is

saa
س و أ
مَا what

ma

كَانُوا they used to

kanoo
ك و ن
يَعْمَلُونَ do

yaAAmaloona
ع م ل
٢

أَخَذَ يَمَنَ جنّ صَدَّ سَبَلَ إِله سَا ءَ كَانَ عَمِلَ


They hold their oaths (assurances) as a shield to hinder Allah's path; Evil is what they do. (Hypocrites pretended to be Muslims so they could undo the efforts of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ).

63:3


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

بِأَنَّهُمْ (is) because

biannahum

اٰمَنُواْ they believed

ثُمَّ then

thumma

كَفَرُوا they disbelieved

ك ف ر
فَطُبِعَ so were let a seal

fatubiAAa
ط ب ع
عَلَىٰ [upon]

AAala

قُلُوبِهِمْ their hearts

quloobihim
ق ل ب
فَهُمْ so they

fahum

لَا (do) not

la

يَفْقَهُونَ understand

yafqahoona
ف ق ه
٣

أَ مُنَ كَفَرَ طَبَعَ قلب فَقِهَ


They believed then they became nonbelievers, so the seal was put on their hearts, and they do not understand.

63:4


وَإِذَا And when

Waitha

رَأَيْتَهُمْ you see them

raaytahum

تُعْجِبُكَ pleases you

tuAAjibuka

أَجْسَامُهُمْ their bodies

وَإِن and if

wain

يَقُولُوا they speak

yaqooloo
ق و ل
تَسْمَعْ you listen

tasmaAA

لِقَوْلِهِمْ to their speech

liqawlihim
ق و ل
كَأَنَّهُمْ as if they (were)

kaannahum

خُشُبٌ pieces of wood

khushubun
خ ش ب
مُّسَنَّدَةٌ propped up

musannadatun
س ن د
يَحْسَبُونَ They think

yahsaboona
ح س ب
كُلَّ every

kulla
ك ل ل
صَيْحَةٍ shout

sayhatin
ص ي ح
عَلَيْهِمْ (is) against them

AAalayhim

هُمُ They

humu

الْعَدُوُّ (are) the enemy

alAAaduwwu
ع د و
فَاحْذَرْهُمْ so beware of them

faihtharhum
ح ذ ر
قَاتَلَهُمُ May destroy them

qatalahumu
ق ت ل
اللهُ Allah!

Allahu
أ ل ه
أَنَّىٰ How?

anna
أ ن ي
يُؤْفَكُونَ are they deluded

yufakoona
أ ف ك
٤

رَأَى عَجَبَ جسُم قَالَ سَمَعَ قَالَ خشب سند حَسَبَ كُلّ صَاحَ عدا حَذِرَ قَتَلَ إِلَٰه أنى أَفَكَ


When you see them, you like the physique of their bodies. And when they talk, you listen to their words. They are like supported wood (speak with an accent). They consider every call-out is about them. They are the enemies, so be warned of them. May Allah destroy them; how separated they are! (distanced from the truth of Allah)!

63:5


وَإِذَا And when

Waitha

قِيلَ it is said

تَعَالَوْا Come

يَسْتَغْفِرْ will ask forgiveness

yastaghfir
غ ف ر
لَكُمْ for you

lakum

رَسُولُ (the) Messenger

اللهِ (of) Allah

Allahi
أ ل ه
لَوَّوْا They turn aside

lawwaw
ل و ي
رُءُوسَهُمْ their heads

ruoosahum
ر أ س
وَرَأَيْتَهُمْ and you see them

waraaytahum
ر أ ي
يَصُدُّونَ turning away

yasuddoona
ص د د
وَهُم while they

wahum

مُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ (are) arrogant

mustakbiroona
ك ب ر
٥

قَالَ عَلَا غفر رَسِلَ إِله لوى رَأَسَ رَأَى صَدَّ كَبَرَ


And when you say to them, “Come, the messenger of Allah will ask for your forgiveness,” they turn away their heads, and you will see them turning away being arrogant.

63:6


سَوَآءٌ (It) is same

أَسْتَغْفَرْتَ whether you ask forgiveness

يَهْدِى guide

الْقَوْمَ the people

الْفَاسِقِينَ the defiantly disobedient

٦

سَوِيَ غفر غفر غفر إِلَٰه إِلَٰه هَدَى قَامَ فًسًق


It is equal to them; Allah will never forgive them whether you ask for or do not ask for their forgiveness. Allah does not guide the nation of the offenders.

63:7


هُمُ They

Humu

الَّذِينَ (are) those who

allatheena

يَقُولُونَ say

لَا (Do) not

تُنفِقُوا spend

عَلَىٰ on

AAala

مَنْ (those) who

man

عِندَ (are) with

رَسُولِ (the) Messenger

اللهِ (of) Allah

Allahi

حَتَّىٰ until

hatta

يَنفَضُّوا they disband

yanfaddoo
ف ض ض
وَلِلّٰهِ And for Allah

walillahi
أ ل ه
خَزَآئِنُ (are the) treasures

khazainu
خ ز ن
السَّمَاوَاتِ (of) the heavens

alssamawati
س م و
وَالْأَرْضِ and the earth

waalardi
أ ر ض
وَلَٰكِنَّ but

walakinna

الْمُنَافِقِينَ the hypocrites

almunafiqeena

لَا (do) not

la

يَفْقَهُونَ understand

yafqahoona
ف ق ه
٧

قَالَ نفق عَنَدَ رَسِلَ إِله فَضَّ إِله خَزَنَ سما أَ رَضْ نفق فَقِهَ


They say, “Do not spend anything on those with the Messenger of Allah unless they have dispersed (they desert him).” The treasures of the universe and the earth belong to Allah, but the hypocrites do not comprehend.

63:8


يَقُولُونَ They say

لَئِن If

رَّجَعْنَآ we return

الْمَدِينَةِ Al-Madinah

almadeenati

لَيُخْرِجَنَّ surely will expel

layukhrijanna

الْأَعَزُّ the more honorable

alaAAazzu
ع ز ز
مِنْهَا from it

minha

الْأَذَلَّ the more humble

alathalla
ذ ل ل
وَلِلّٰهِ But for Allah

walillahi
أ ل ه
الْعِزَّةُ (is) the honor

alAAizzatu
ع ز ز
وَلِرَسُولِهِۦ and for His Messenger

walirasoolihi
ر س ل
وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ and for the believers

walilmumineena
أ م ن
وَلَٰكِنَّ but

walakinna

الْمُنَافِقِينَ the hypocrites

almunafiqeena
ن ف ق
لَا (do) not

la

يَعْلَمُونَ know

yaAAlamoona
ع ل م
٨

قَالَ رَجَعَ مدن خرج عَزَّ ذَلَّ إِله عَزَّ رَسِلَ أمُن نفق علِم


They say, “If we return to the city of Medina, the honorable will be driven out from there by the lowly.” But Entire Honor is for Allah, His Messenger, and believers, but the hypocrites do not know.

63:9


يَاأَيُّهَا O

Yaayyuha

الَّذِينَ you (who)

allatheena

اٰمَنُواْ believe!

amanoo
أ م ن
لَا (Let) not

la

تُلْهِكُمْ divert you

tulhikum
ل ه و
أَمْوَالُكُمْ your wealth

amwalukum
م و ل
وَلَآ and not

wala

أَوْلَادُكُمْ your children

awladukum
و ل د
عَن from

AAan

ذِكْرِ (the) remembrance

thikri
ذ ك ر
اللهِ (of) Allah

Allahi
أ ل ه
وَمَن And whoever

waman

يَفْعَلْ does

yafAAal
ف ع ل
ذَٰلِكَ that

thalika

فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ then those

faolaika

هُمُ [they]

humu

الْخَاسِرُونَ (are) the losers

alkhasiroona
خ س ر
٩

أَ مُنَ لها مَال وَلَدَ ذَكّرَ إِله فَعَلَ خَسِرَ


O you who believe! Let neither your wealth nor your children turn your attention away from remembering Allah. Whoever does that will be the loser.

63:10


وَأَنفِقُوا And spend

Waanfiqoo

فَيَقُولَ and he says

رَبِّ My Lord!

أَخَّرْتَنِىٓ You delay me

إِلَىٰٓ for

ila

أَجَلٍ a term

ajalin
أ ج ل
قَرِيبٍ near

qareebin
ق ر ب
فَأَصَّدَّقَ so I would give charity

faassaddaqa
ص د ق
وَأَكُن and be

waakun
ك و ن
مِّنَ among

mina

الصَّالِحِينَ the righteous

alssaliheena
ص ل ح
١٠

نفق رَزَقَ قَبِلَ أتى أحد مَاتَ قَالَ رَبَّ أخر أجل قرُب صَدَقَ كَانَ صَلَحَ


And spend from what We have provided you before death comes to one of you, and then he will say, “O my Rabb, I wish You had delayed me for a fixed time, so that I may give charity, and I would have been from the good-doers.”

63:11


وَلَن But never

Walan

يُؤَخِّرَ will (be) delayed

نَفْسًا a soul

إِذَا when

جَآءَ has come

أَجَلُهَا its term

وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
خَبِيرٌ (is) All-Aware

بِمَا of what

bima

تَعْمَلُونَ you do

taAAmaloona
ع م ل
١١

أخر إِلَٰه نفُس جَاءَ أجل إِلَٰه خَبَرَ عَمِلَ


And (but) Allah will never delay any soul when its appointed time arrives. Allah is All-Knowing about what you do.
