وَحَى قَبِلَ إِلَٰه عَزَّ حَكَمَ


This is how Allah, the Most Powerful, the Wisest, inspires you and those before you. (Revelation, Quran).

For Him is whatever is in the universe and the earth, and He is the Highest, the Greatest.

كَادَ سما فَطَرَ فَاقَ ملك سبح رَبَّ غفر فِي أَ رَضْ إِلَٰه غفر رَحِمَ


The sky from above them almost split apart (when someone does not believe in Allah and His Messengers) while the angels glorify Him with praise and ask for forgiveness for those on the earth. Truly Allah is the One Who is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

أَخَذَ دُون وَلِيَ إِلَٰه حَفِظَ وَكَلَ


And those who have taken guardians besides Him, Allah is their protector, and you (Muhammad; ﷺ Sallalahu Alaihi Wassalam) are not in charge (guardian) of them.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

أَوْحَيْنَآ We have revealed

وَحَى قَرَأَ عَرَب نَذَرَ أ مّ قَرَى حَالَ نَذَرَ يوْم جَمَعَ رَابَ فِي فرق فِي جنّ فرق فِي سعى


And that is how We have revealed the Quran to you in Arabic so you may warn (the people residing in) Mecca city and its surroundings. And for you to warn of the Day of Assembly, of which there is no doubt. (which is inevitable). A group will enter Paradise that day, and a group (will be thrown) into the Fire.

شِاءَ إِلَٰه جعل أمّ أحد دَخَلَ شِاءَ فِي رَحِمَ ظَلَمَ وَلِيَ نَصَرَ


He could have made them one (believing) nation if Allah wanted, but He will enter whomever He wants in His Mercy. As for the unjust, there is no supporter or helper.

42:9

أَخَذَ دُون وَلِيَ إِله وَلِيَ حي مَاتَ كُلّ شِاءَ قدر


Or have they taken other than Him as supporters? But (in reality) Allah is the (Only) Supporter, and He gives you life and death, and He has Full Control over everything.

وَمَا And whatever

خَلَفَ فِي شِاءَ حَكَمَ إِله إِلَٰه رَبَّ وَكَلَ نَابَ


Whatever you disagree with (but know that), judgment (ruling on what is right) rests with Allah. “He is your Allah, my Rabb; I trust Him, and to Him I turn.”

فَاطِرُ (The) Creator

فَطَرَ سما أَ رَضْ جعل نفُس زَاجَ نَعَمَ زَاجَ ذَكّرَ فِي لَيْسَ مَثَلَ شِاءَ سَمَعَ بصُر


He gives nature (natural properties) to the universe and the earth. He made mates for you from yourself and mates for the cattle and dispersed you (around the world). There is nothing like Him in anything (He is the creator of all that you see, so He cannot be like anything that is created. He is unseen because your eyes can see only what He made, but not Him. He is other than anything you can see). He is All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.

قَلَد سما أَ رَضْ بسط رَزَقَ شِاءَ قدر كُلّ شِاءَ علِم


All the keys (Power and Control of resources) of the universe and the earth are with Him. He extends sustenance to whom He Will and controls. He has Knowledge of Everything.

شَرَعَ دَنَا وصِي وَحَى وصِي قَامَ دَنَا فرق فِي كَبَرَ شَرِكَ دَعَا إِلَٰه جبى شِاءَ هَدَى نَابَ


He made laws (originated laws) for you with the same religion (Islam) entrusted to Noah, and that inspired you, and entrusted to Ibrahim, Musa, and Essa: “Establish the religion and do not differ in it.” It is intolerable to those who associate partners (with Allah) when you call them to come to Him. Allah answers to whomever He wants and guides towards Him whoever frequently returns to Him.

فرق بعُد جَاءَ علِم بغى بَا نَ كلِمُ سبق رَبَّ أجل سَمِي قَضَى بَا نَ وَرَثَ كَتَبَ بعُد شَكَّ رَابَ


And they did not separate until after the knowledge had come to them out of envy among themselves. If it had not been for the predetermined decision by your Rabb for a fixed time, it would have been decided among them. Indeed, those who inherited the Book after them have surely doubtful suspicions about this (Quran).

فَلِذَٰلِكَ So to that

دَعَا قَامَ أمر تبِع هوى قَالَ أمُن نَزَلَ إِلَٰه كَتَبَ أمر عَدَلَ بَا نَ إِلَٰه رَبَّ رَبَّ عَمِلَ عَمِلَ حَجَّ بَا نَ بَا نَ إِلَٰه جَمَعَ بَا نَ صَارَ


So, for that, go on calling (inviting), stand firm on what is ordered, do not follow their desires, and say, “I believe what Allah has sent down in the Book, and I am ordered to do justice between you. Allah is our Rabb and your Rabb. For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. There is no argument between you and us. Allah will bring us together (for Judgment), and towards Him is the return.”

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

حَجَّ فِي إِله بعُد جاب حَجَّ دَحَضَ عَنَدَ رَبَّ غضِب عَذُبَ شَدَّ


As for those who (still) argue about Allah after what they heard (all evidence in response to their arguments) about Him, (now) their arguments (opinions) are invalid with their Rabb, they will face the wrath of punishment, which is severe.

إِلَٰه نَزَلَ كَتَبَ حَقَّ وزن دَرَك سَاعته قرُب


Allah is the One who sent down the Book with the truth and the Balance (To Judge by Quran on Day of Standing). Have you considered the possibility that the end times (or final judgment) may be approaching?

يَسْتَعْجِلُ Seek to hasten

عَجِلَ أمُن أَ مُنَ شَفِقَ علِم حَقَّ مَرْي فِي سَاعته ضلّ بعُد


Those who do not believe in this ask to expedite (the Day of Judgement), but those who believe they are on guard about this (are certain that Judgment Day will happen), and they know that it is true (no question). Truly, those who are disputing in the time (Day of Judgement) are (too) far lost (deeply in error).

إِلَٰه لَطَفَ عَبَدَ رَزَقَ شِاءَ قَوِيَ عَزَّ


Allah is Kind (Affectionate, Gentle) to His slaves. He provides for whoever He wants. He is the Strongest, the Most Powerful.

كَانَ رَادَ حَرَثَ أخر زَادَ فِي حَرَثَ كَانَ رَادَ حَرَثَ دَنَا أتى فِي أخر نَصَبَ


Whoever desires to cultivate for the Hereafter, We increase for Him in His cultivation; and whoever wants the cultivation for this world, Gives him that, and there is nothing for him in the Hereafter to share.

أَمْ Or

Am

لَهُمْ for them

عَذَابٌ (is a) punishment

شَرِكَ شَرَعَ دَنَا أَذن إِلَٰه كلِمُ فَصَلَ قَضَى بَا نَ ظَلَمَ عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


Or do they have partners who have legislated for them the religion that Allah has not permitted? It would have been judged between them if not for the decided word. Indeed, the unjust will have a painful punishment.

الْفَضْلُ (is) the Bounty

رَأَى ظَلَمَ شَفِقَ كَسَبَ وقع أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ فِي رَاضَ جنّ شِاءَ عَنَدَ رَبَّ فَضَلَ كَبَرَ


You will see the unjust (now) becoming compassionate (submissive) due to what they have earned and what will happen to them. As for those who believe and do righteous deeds will be in the meadows of the gardens; for them, whatever they want from their Rabb, that is the excellent grant (success, blessing).

ذَٰلِكَ That

الَّذِى (is of) which

بشِر إِلَٰه عَبَدَ أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ قَالَ سأل أَجَرَ مَادَ فِي قرُب قَرَفَ حَسَنَ زَيدَ حَسَنَ إِلَٰه غفر شَكَرَ


That is the good news given by Allah to His slaves who believe and do righteous deeds. Say, “I do not ask you for a reward on this except the love for kinship.” Whoever commissions (plans and does) a good deed, We will increase goodness therein for him. Allah is Most Forgiving and Most Appreciative.

عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knowing

الصُّدُورِ (is in) the breasts

قَالَ فتر إِله كَذَبَ شِاءَ إِلَٰه خَتَمَ قلب محا إِلَٰه بَطَلَ حَقَّ حَقَّ كلِمُ علِم ذُو صدر


Or do they say, “He fabricated a lie about Allah?” If Allah desired, He would have sealed your heart (not open for unbelievers). But Allah erases falsehood, and He confirms the truth with His Words. He is aware of what is in their hearts.

42:25


وَهُوَ And He

Wahuwa

الَّذِى (is) the One Who

قَبِلَ تاب عَبَدَ عفا سَا ءَ علِم فَعَلَ


He is the One who accepts the repentance of His slaves and forgives their sins, and He knows all that you do.

وَيَسْتَجِيبُ And He answers

وَالْكَافِرُونَ And the disbelievers

جاب أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ زَادَ فَضَلَ كَفَرَ عَذُبَ شَدَّ


And He answers to those who believe and do righteous deeds and increases His grace for them. But for the nonbelievers, for them is a painful punishment.

وَلَوْ And if

بَصِيرٌ All-Seer

٢٧

بسط إِلَٰه رَزَقَ عَبَدَ بغى فِي أَ رَضْ نَزَلَ قدر شِاءَ عَبَدَ خَبَرَ بصُر


And If Allah had extended the provisions to His slaves, they will surely oppress in the land; but He sends down in predetermined measures whatever He Will. He is All-Knowing, All-Seeing to His slaves.

وَهُوَ And He

Wahuwa

الَّذِى (is) the One Who

يُنَزِّلُ sends down

الْحَمِيدُ the Praiseworthy

نَزَلَ غَاثَ بعُد قَنِطَ نشر رَحِمَ وَلِيَ حَمِدَ


He is the One Who Sends down abundant rain after they become hopeless and Spreads His Mercy. He is the Supporter, The Praiseworthy.

42:29


وَمِنْ And among

Wamin

اٰيَاتِهِۦ His Signs

خَلْقُ (is the) creation

السَّمَاوَاتِ (of) the heavens

وَالْأَرْضِ and the earth

أ ر ض
وَمَا and whatever

دَآبَّةٍ (the) creatures

وَهُوَ And He

عَلَىٰ (is) over

جَمْعِهِمْ their gathering

إِذَا when

يَشَآءُ He wills

ش ي أ
قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful

qadeerun
ق د ر
٢٩

آ ىي -آية خَلَقَ سما أَ رَضْ بَثَّ فِي دَبَّ جَمَعَ شِاءَ قدر


And among His Signs is the creation of the universe, the earth, and all animals spread out in them. He is capable of gathering them when He Will.

وَمَآ And whatever

أَصَابَكُم befalls you

And whatever hardship reaches you is because of what your hands have earned, yet He forgives many.

وَمَآ And not

أَنتُم you

بِمُعْجِزِينَ (can) escape

عَجَزَ فِي أَ رَضْ دُون إِله وَلِيَ نَصَرَ


You cannot weaken (the plan of Allah) on the earth, and there is nobody for you other than Allah to (ask for) Support or Help.

وَمِنْ And among

Wamin

اٰيَاتِهِ His Signs

الْجَوَارِ (are) the ships

الْبَحْرِ the sea

كَالْأَعْلَامِ like [the] mountains

آ ىي -آية جَرَى فِي بَحَرَ علِم


And among His signs are the ships in the oceans like the signposts (for information).

شَكُورٍ (and) grateful

٣٣

شِاءَ سَكَنَ رَاحَ ظَلَّ رَكَدَ ظهر فِي آ ىي -آية كُلّ صَبَرَ شَكَرَ


If He wanted, He could have made the winds still. Then (ships will) remain motionless on the surface. Indeed, there are signs for every thankful patient (person).

أَوْ Or

Aw

يُوبِقْهُنَّ He could destroy them

Or He could destroy them due to what they earned. And yet He forgives many.

وَيَعْلَمَ And may know

فِىٓ concerning

اٰيَاتِنَا Our Signs

مَا (that) not

مِّن any

مَّحِيصٍ place of refuge

ح ي ص

علِم جدل آ ىي -آية حَاصَ


Those who argue in Our Signs know there is no place for them to escape.

فَمَآ So whatever

أُوتِيتُم you are given

وَأَبْقَىٰ and more lasting

لِلَّذِينَ for those who

lillatheena

اٰمَنُواْ believe

وَعَلَىٰ and upon

waAAala

رَبِّهِمْ their Lord

rabbihim
ر ب ب
يَتَوَكَّلُونَ put (their) trust

yatawakkaloona
و ك ل
٣٦

أتى شِاءَ مَتَعَ حي دَنَا عَنَدَ إِله خَيرَ بَقِىَ أَ مُنَ رَبَّ وَكَلَ


So, whatever is given to you is to sustain a life in this world (nothing that is given to you goes beyond this life). But what (you intend) for Allah is with Allah; it is better and everlasting for those who believe and trust in Rubb.

42:37


وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

يَجْتَنِبُونَ avoid

الْإِثْمِ sins

وَالْفَوَاحِشَ and the immoralities

وَإِذَا and when

غَضِبُوا they are angry

هُمْ they

hum

يَغْفِرُونَ forgive

yaghfiroona
غ ف ر
٣٧

جَنَبَ كَبَرَ أثِم فَحُشَ غضِب غفر


And those who ward off (avoid, avert) greater sins and fornication; and when they are in anger (feelings of hurt, humiliation, fear, rejection, and the big one... frustration), they forgive.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

اسْتَجَابُواْ respond

الصَّلَوٰةَ prayer

وَأَمْرُهُمْ and their affairs

شُورَىٰ (are conducted by) consultation

بَيْنَهُمْ among them

baynahum
ب ي ن
وَمِمَّا and from what

wamimma

رَزَقْنَاهُمْ We have provided them

razaqnahum

يُنفِقُونَ they spend

yunfiqoona
ن ف ق
٣٨

جاب رَبَّ قَامَ صلو أمر شَور بَا نَ رَزَقَ نفق


And those who answer to their Rabb, establish prayer, and make their decisions with consultation (build consensus on suggestions) among themselves and spend (give) from what We have provided (means of livelihood) to them.

42:39


وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

إِذَا when

أَصَابَهُمُ strikes them

يَنتَصِرُونَ defend themselves

صاب بغى نَصَرَ


And those when the oppression befalls (targets), they come to aid each other.

وَجَزَٰٓؤُا (The) recompense

سَيِّئَةٍ (of) an evil

سَيِّئَةٌ (is) an evil

فَمَنْ But whoever

وَأَصْلَحَ and makes reconciliation

فَأَجْرُهُۥ then his reward

اللهِ Allah

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He

لَا (does) not

يُحِبُّ like

الظَّالِمِينَ the wrongdoers

٤٠

جَزَى سَا ءَ سَا ءَ مَثَلَ عفا صَلَحَ أَجَرَ إِله حَبَّ ظَلَمَ


And the penalty of an evil deed is similar (equivalent) to that. But whoever forgives and reforms (corrects) his reward is on Allah. He does not like the unjust.

وَلَمَنِ And surely whosoever

As for whoever comes for retaliation after he was unjustly treated, there is nothing on them as means (to blame).

سَبَلَ ظَلَمَ أَنِسَ بغى فِي أَ رَضْ غير حَقَّ عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


The only path for those who do injustice to humankind and cause oppression on the earth without justification is a painful punishment.

وَلَمَن And whoever

Walaman

صَبَرَ (is) patient

وَغَفَرَ and forgives

waghafara

إِنَّ indeed

inna

ذَٰلِكَ that

thalika

لَمِنْ (is) surely of

lamin

عَزْمِ determination

AAazmi
ع ز م
الْأُمُورِ the matters

أ م ر
٤٣

صَبَرَ غفر عَزَمَ أمر


But whoever becomes patient and forgives, indeed, that is a sign of commanded resolution.

وَمَن And whoever

يُضْلِلِ lets go astray

هَلْ Is?

مَرَدٍّ return

سَبِيلٍ way

sabeelin

٤٤

ضلّ إِلَٰه وَلِيَ بعُد رَأَى ظَلَمَ رَأَى عَذُبَ قَالَ رَدَّ سَبَلَ


Whoever is left misguided by Allah has no supporter for him after that. And you will see the unjust; when they will see the punishment, they will say, “Is there any way to return?”

42:45


وَتَرَاهُمْ And you will see them

الْخَاسِرِينَ the losers

الَّذِينَ (are) those who

خَسِرُوا lost

أَنفُسَهُمْ themselves

وَأَهْلِيهِمْ and their families

waahleehim
أ ه ل
يَوْمَ (on the) Day

yawma
ي و م
الْقِيَامَةِ (of) the Resurrection

alqiyamati
ق و م
أَلَآ Unquestionably!

ala

إِنَّ Indeed

inna

الظَّالِمِينَ the wrongdoers

فِى (are) in

fee

عَذَابٍ a punishment

AAathabin
ع ذ ب
مُّقِيمٍ lasting

muqeemin
ق و م
٤٥

رَأَى عَرُضَ خَشَعَ ذَلَّ نَظَرَ طَرَفَ خَفَيَ قَالَ أَ مُنَ خَسِرَ خَسِرَ نفُس أهَلَ يوْم قَامَ ظَلَمَ فِي عَذُبَ قَامَ


And you will see them presented to it (hell), submitting, humiliated; they will see (suffering) from (eye) sides secretly. Those who believe will say, “The losers have lost themselves and their families on the Day of Standing.” Indeed, the unjust will have endless punishment.

وَمَا And not

Wama

وَمَن And whom

يُضْلِلِ lets go astray

سَبِيلٍ way

كَانَ وَلِيَ نَصَرَ دُون إِله ضلّ إِلَٰه سَبَلَ


There is no one for them from the supporters that will help them other than Allah. (There is no one to help them except Allah). And whoever is left astray by Allah, there is no way (to escape).

اسْتَجِيبُواْ Respond

لَكُم for you

مِّن any

نَّكِيرٍ denial

nakeerin

٤٧

جاب رَبَّ قَبِلَ أتى يوْم رَدَّ إِله لجأ نَكِرَ


Respond to your Rabb before that Day will come to you from Allah where there is no turning back. There is no place for you to hide on that Day and nothing that you can deny.

42:48


فَإِنْ Then if

أَرْسَلْنَاكَ We have sent you

حَفِيظًا (as) a guardian

إِلَّا except

الْبَلَاغُ the conveyance

وَإِنَّآ And indeed

أَذَقْنَا We cause to taste

الْإِنسَانَ [the] man

مِنَّا from Us

رَحْمَةً Mercy

فَرِحَ he rejoices

بِهَا in it

وَإِن But if

تُصِبْهُمْ befalls them

tusibhum

سَيِّئَةٌ evil

sayyiatun

بِمَا for what

bima

قَدَّمَتْ have sent forth

qaddamat

أَيْدِيهِمْ their hands

aydeehim
ي د ي
فَإِنَّ then indeed

fainna

الْإِنسَانَ [the] man

alinsana
أ ن س
كَفُورٌ (is) ungrateful

kafoorun
ك ف ر
٤٨

عَرُضَ رَسِلَ حَفِظَ بلغ ذاق أَنِسَ رَحِمَ فَرِحَ صاب سَا ءَ قَدَمَ يدي أَنِسَ كَفَرَ


If they oppose, We did not send you over to them as protector. The only (responsibility) on you is the communication (inform them of the message). Whenever We let humankind taste Our mercy, he is happy with it; but if harm reaches them due to what their hands have brought, then the man becomes ungrateful.

لِّلّٰهِ To Allah

Lillahi

مُلْكُ (belongs the) dominion

السَّمَاوَاتِ (of) the heavens

وَالْأَرْضِ and the earth

waalardi
أ ر ض
يَخْلُقُ He creates

مَا what

يَشَآءُ He wills

يَهَبُ He grants

لِمَن to whom

يَشَآءُ He wills

الذُّكُورَ [the] males

إِله ملك سما أَ رَضْ خَلَقَ شِاءَ وَهَبَ شِاءَ أَنُثَ وَهَبَ شِاءَ ذَكّرَ


For Allah is the kingdom of the universe and the earth. He Creates whatever He desires. He gives females to whomever He wishes and males to whomever He wishes.

أَوْ Or

Aw

يُزَوِّجُهُمْ He grants them

ذُكْرَانًا males

وَيَجْعَلُ and He makes

wayajAAalu

مَن whom

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He

عَلِيمٌ (is) All-Knower

AAaleemun

قَدِيرٌ All-Powerful

زَاجَ ذَكّرَ أَنُثَ جعل شِاءَ عَقَمَ علِم قدر


Or gives them both, males and females, and He makes barren to whomever He Will. He is All-Knowing and in Full Control.

وَمَا And not

عَلِىٌّ (is) Most High

حَكِيمٌ Most Wise

كَانَ بشر كلِمُ إِلَٰه وَحَى رَأَى حَجَبَ رَسِلَ رَسِلَ وَحَى أَذن شِاءَ عَلَا حَكَمَ


It is not for the man that he can speak to Allah except with inspiration, or behind a barrier, or he is sent down a Messenger, then he receives inspiration from His permission whatever He Will. He is Exalted Supreme, Most High, with Wisdom.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

Wakathalika

أَوْحَيْنَآ We have revealed

أَمْرِنَا Our Command

نُورًا a light

نَّهْدِي We guide

بِهِۦ with it

نَّشَآءُ We will

مِنْ of

عِبَادِنَا Our slaves

وَإِنَّكَ And indeed you

wainnaka

لَتَهْدِىٓ surely guide

إِلَىٰ to

صِرَاطٍ (the) Path

مُّسْتَقِيمٍ Straight

mustaqeemin
ق و م
٥٢

وَحَى رَاحَ أمر كَانَ دَرَى كَتَبَ يَمَنَ جعل نَار هَدَى شِاءَ عَبَدَ هَدَى صِرَاط قَامَ


That is how We inspire you with a divine message (Quran) from Our command. You did not know the Book or belief, but We made it a light, with which We guide whomever We Will among Our worshippers. Indeed, you are surely on the right path.

الْأُمُورُ all affairs

صِرَاط إِله فِي سما فِي أَ رَضْ إِله صَارَ أمر


This is the path of Allah, for Him is whatever is in the universe and the earth. Towards Allah is where all the instructions start (begin, occur, happen, take place, and eventually end).
