تِلْكَ These

Tilka

اٰيَاتُ (are the) Verses

ayatu
أ ي ي
الْكِتَابِ (of) the Book

الْمُبِينِ clear

٢

آ ىي -آية كَتَبَ بَا نَ


These are verses of the intelligible (clear, evident) Book.

26:3


لَعَلَّكَ Perhaps you

نَّفْسَكَ yourself

أَلَّا that not

يَكُونُوا they become

مُؤْمِنِينَ believers

بَخَعَ نفُس كَانَ أمُن


Perhaps you may kill yourself because they are not becoming believers.

إِن If

لَهَا to it

خَاضِعِينَ (in) humility

شَأَن نَزَلَ سَمَا آ ىي -آية ظَلَّ عَنِقَ خَضَعَ


If We desire, We would have sent on them from the sky a sign that their necks will remain bent down in submission.

وَمَا And (does) not

يَأْتِيهِم come to them

أتى ذَكّرَ رَحِمَ حَدَثَ كَانَ عَرُضَ


They receive no message as a reminder from the Most Merciful, except they turn away from it.

26:6


فَقَدْ So verily

Faqad

كَذَّبُوا they have denied

فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ then will come to them

أَنبَآءُ the news

مَا (of) what

كَانُوا they used

بِهِۦ at it

يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ (to) mock

كَذَبَ أتى نبأ كَانَ هَزِىءَ


So, they have lied, but the news about what they used to mock will soon come to them (Message of the Prophet).

26:7


أَوَلَمْ Do not?

رَأَى أَ رَضْ نَبَتَ كُلّ زَاجَ كَرُمَ


Have they not seen the earth? How many of every noble pair We have produced therein? (herbs, grass, vegetables, and cultivations)?

26:8


إِنَّ Indeed

أَكْثَرُهُم most of them

فِي آ ىي -آية كَانَ كَثَرَ أمُن


Indeed, there are signs, but many of them will not be believers.

وَإِنَّ And indeed

Wainna

رَبَّكَ your Lord

لَهُوَ surely He

الْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty

الرَّحِيمُ the Most Merciful

رَبَّ عَزَّ رَحِمَ


And indeed, Your Rabb is the One, the Most Powerful, the Most Merciful.

26:10


وَإِذْ And when

الْقَوْمَ (to) the people

ندا رَبَّ أتى قَامَ ظَلَمَ


And when, Your Rabb summoned Musa to go (finish, carry through, conclude) to the unjust people.

26:11


قَوْمَ (The) people

فِرْعَوْنَ (of) Firaun

The people of Firon. Why do they not become God-fearing?”

قَالَ He said

Musa said, “My Rabb, I fear that they will deny me.

26:13


وَيَضِيقُ And straitens

فَأَرْسِلْ so send

ضَاقَ صدر طَلُقَ لَسِنَ رَسِلَ


And my heart gets depressed (my chest becomes tight), and my tongue is not free (move to speak perfect words), so send Haroon to them.

26:14


وَلَهُمْ And they have

عَلَىَّ against me

ذَنبٌ a crime

فَأَخَافُ so I fear

يَقْتُلُونِ they will kill me

ذَنْب خَفَيَ قَتَلَ


And they have a charge against me, so I fear they will kill me.”

قَالَ He said

Qala

كَلَّا Nay

فَاذْهَبَا go both of you

بِاٰيَاتِنَا with Our Signs

إِنَّا Indeed We

مَعَكُم (are) with you

maAAakum

مُّسْتَمِعُونَ listening

١٥

قَالَ ذهب آ ىي -آية سَمَعَ


He said, “Certainly not! You both go with Our signs; I am with you, listening.

26:16


فَأْتِيَا So go both of you

أتى قَالَ رَسِلَ رَبَّ علِم


They both came to Firon; then they said, ‘We both are messengers of the Rabb of the universe.

26:17


أَنْ [That]

Then send with us the children of Israel.’”

قَالَ He said

أَلَمْ Did not?

نُرَبِّكَ we bring you up

وَلِيدًا (as) a child

وَلَبِثْتَ and you remained

عُمُرِكَ your life

قَالَ رَبَّ وَلَدَ لبِث عَمَرَ سَنَته


He asked, "Didn't we raise you among us as a child, and you lived with us for many years of your life?"

26:19


وَفَعَلْتَ And you did

فَعَلَ فَعَلَ فَعَلَ كَفَرَ


And you did the deed (killing of a man) that you did, and you are from the ungrateful.”

26:20


قَالَ He said

فَعَلْتُهَآ I did it

وَأَنَا I

الضَّآلِّينَ those who are astray

قَالَ فَعَلَ ضلّ


He said, 'I did that in error back then.'

فَفَرَرْتُ So I fled

خِفْتُكُمْ I feared you

وَجَعَلَنِى and made me

الْمُرْسَلِينَ the Messengers

فَرَّ خَفَتَ وَهَبَ رَبَّ حَكَمَ جعل رَسِلَ


And I fled from you when I feared you, but my Rabb granted me wisdom and made me among His messengers.

26:22


وَتِلْكَ And this

Watilka

نِعْمَةٌ (is the) favor

تَمُنُّهَا with which you reproach

عَلَىَّ [on] me

أَنْ that

عَبَّدتَّ you have enslaved

AAabbadta
ع ب د
بَنِىٓ (the) Children of

إِسْرَائِيلَ Israel

٢٢

نَعَمَ مَنَّ عَبَدَ اِبْن


And (about) the favor you indebted to me was because you made the children of Israel as enslaved people?”

قَالَ said

فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun

وَمَا And what

رَبُّ (is the) Lord

قَالَ رَبَّ علِم


Firon asked, "Who is the Rabb of the universe?"

قَالَ He said

السَّمَاوَاتِ (of) the heavens

وَالْأَرْضِ and the earth

وَمَا and whatever

بَيْنَهُمَآ (is) between both of them

كُنتُم you (should) be

مُّوقِنِينَ convinced

٢٤

قَالَ رَبَّ سما أَ رَضْ بَا نَ كَانَ يَقِنَ


He (Musa) said, "Rabb of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - if you would be convinced."

قَالَ He said

لِمَنْ to those

حَوْلَهُۥٓ around him

أَلَا Do not?

تَسْتَمِعُونَ you hear

قَالَ حَالَ سَمَعَ


He (Firon) said to those around him, “Are you not listening?”

رَبُّكُمْ Your Lord

وَرَبُّ and (the) Lord

اٰبَآئِكُمُ (of) your forefathers

الْأَوَّلِينَ the old

قَالَ رَبَّ رَبَّ أَب ا و ل


He (Musa) said, “Your Rabb and the Rabb of your forefathers, the ancestors.”

26:27


قَالَ He said

Qala

إِنَّ Indeed

رَسُولَكُمُ your Messenger

الَّذِىٓ who

أُرْسِلَ has been sent

إِلَيْكُمْ to you

ilaykum

لَمَجْنُونٌ (is) surely mad

٢٧

قَالَ رَسِلَ رَسِلَ جنّ


He (Firon) said, “Your messenger, the one who is sent to you surely, is possessed (insane).”

الْمَشْرِقِ (of) the east

قَالَ رَبَّ شَرَقَ غَرَبَ بَا نَ كَانَ عَقَلَ


He (Musa) said, “Rabb of the East and the West, and whatever is in between them if you understand.”

قَالَ He said

لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ I will surely make you

الْمَسْجُونِينَ those imprisoned

قَالَ أَخَذَ إِله غير جعل سَجَنَ


He (Firon) said, “If you take a god other than me, I will make you among the imprisoned.”

قَالَ He said

Qala

أَوَلَوْ Even if?

قَالَ جَاءَ شِاءَ بَا نَ


He (Musa) said, “"Even if I bring clear evidence to you?"

فَأْتِ Then bring

قَالَ أتى كَانَ صَدَقَ


He (Firon) said, “Then bring that if you are of the truthful.”

فَأَلْقَىٰ So he threw

ثُعْبَانٌ (was) a serpent

لقِي عَصَى ثُعْبَا ن بَا نَ


So, he threw down his staff, then it was a clear snake.

26:33


وَنَزَعَ And he drew out

فَإِذَا and behold!

بَيْضَآءُ (was) white

لِلنَّاظِرِينَ for the observers

نَزَعَ يدي بَا ضَ نَظَرَ


"He pulled out his hand, and it was visible to the spectators, as it was white.

قَالَ He said

لِلْمَلَإِ to the chiefs

حَوْلَهُۥٓ around him

إِنَّ Indeed

هَٰذَا this

لَسَاحِرٌ (is) surely a magician

lasahirun

عَلِيمٌ learned

AAaleemun

٣٤

قَالَ مَلَأَ سَحَرَ علِم


He (Firon) said to the chiefs around him, “indeed, this is the professional magician.

يُرِيدُ He wants

رَادَ خرج رَضِيَ سَحَرَ أ مر


He desires that he will deport you from your land through his magic, so what is your consultation?”

قَالُوٓاْ They said

أَرْجِهِ Postpone him

الْمَدَائِنِ the cities

قَالَ رَجِلَ أخو بعث فِي مدن حَشَرَ


They said, “Postpone him and his brother and dispatch recruiters in the cities to gather.

يَأْتُوكَ They (will) bring to you

أتى كُلّ سَحَرَ علِم


To bring you every professional magician.”

فَجُمِعَ So were assembled

السَّحَرَةُ the magicians

لِمِيقَاتِ for (the) appointment

يَوْمٍ (on) a day

مَّعْلُومٍ well-known

٣٨

جَمَعَ سَحَرَ وقت يوْم علِم


So, the magicians were gathered on an appointed known date.

وَقِيلَ And it was said

لِلنَّاسِ to the people

هَلْ Will?

مُّجْتَمِعُونَ assemble

٣٩

قَالَ أَنِسَ جَمَعَ


And it was said (conferred) to the people, “Are you assembled?

لَعَلَّنَا That we may

السَّحَرَةَ the magicians

الْغَالِبِينَ the victorious

تبِع سَحَرَ كَانَ غَلَبَ


That maybe we will follow the magicians if they are victorious (triumphant).”

فَلَمَّا So when

جَاءَ سَحَرَ قَالَ أَجَرَ كَانَ غَلَبَ


When the magicians came, they said to Firon, “Is there a reward for us if we were triumphant?”

نَعَمْ Yes

وَإِنَّكُمْ and indeed you

wainnakum

إِذًا then

لَّمِنَ surely (will be) of

الْمُقَرَّبِينَ the ones who are brought near

almuqarrabeena

قَالَ قرُب


He said, “Yes, and you will be among those close (to me).”

Musa said to them, “Throw down what you are going to throw down.”

فَأَلْقَوْا So they threw

إِنَّا indeed we

لَنَحْنُ surely we

الْغَالِبُونَ (are) the victorious

لقِي حَبَلَ عَصَى قَالَ عَزَّ غَلَبَ


So, they threw down their ropes and sticks and said, “With the power of Firon, we will be triumphant.”

فَأَلْقَىٰ Then threw

Then Musa threw down his staff; then it snatched away what they were fabricating.

فَأُلْقِىَ Then fell down

Then the magicians submitted (fell) in prostration.

قَالُوٓاْ They said

اٰمَنَّا We believe

بِرَبِّ in (the) Lord

قَالَ أَ مُنَ رَبَّ علِم


They said, “We believe in the Rabb of the universe.

فَلَسَوْفَ so surely soon

لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ I will surely cut off

أَيْدِيَكُمْ your hands

وَأَرْجُلَكُم and your feet

وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ and I will surely crucify you

أَجْمَعِينَ all

قَالَ أمُن قَبِلَ أَذن كَبَرَ علِم سَحَرَ علِم قَطَعَ يدي رَجِلَ خَلَفَ صَلَبَ جَمَعَ


He (Firon) said, “Did you believe in Him (Allah) before I permitted you? He (Musa) must be the bigger (magician) of you, who taught you the magic. You will soon know. I will cut your hands and feet from opposite sides and crucify you together.”

They said, “No harm. We will return to our Rabb.

We hope our Rabb will forgive our mistakes because we are first among the believers.”

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ And We inspired

بِعِبَادِىٓ with My slaves

وَحَى أسر عَبَدَ تبِع


And We inspired Musa: “Travel by night with My worshippers. You will be followed.”

فَأَرْسَلَ Then sent

Firon dispatched (message) to assemble (people) from the towns.

إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ these

haolai

لَشِرْذِمَةٌ (are) certainly a band

قَلِيلُونَ small

شِرْذِمَته قَلَّ


“Indeed, These are a small band.

26:55


وَإِنَّهُمْ And indeed they

Wainnahum

لَنَا [to] us

لَغَآئِظُونَ (are) surely enraging

غَاظَ


And they have infuriated us.

26:56


وَإِنَّا And indeed we

Wainna

لَجَمِيعٌ (are) surely a multitude

But we are all together, being careful (cautious)”.

فَأَخْرَجْنَاهُم So We expelled them

So, We brought them out of gardens and springs.

وَكُنُوزٍ And treasures

كَرِيمٍ honorable

كَنَزَ قَامَ كَرُمَ


And treasures and magnanimous place.

كَذَٰلِكَ Thus

Kathalika

وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا And We caused to inherit them

بَنِىٓ (the) Children of

إِسْرَائِيلَ Israel

وَرَثَ اِبْن


So, it was. We made the Children of Israel the inheritors of these.

فَأَتْبَعُوهُم So they followed them

And they followed them at the rising of the sun (morning time).

فَلَمَّا Then when

رَأَى جَمَعَ قَالَ صَحِبَ دَرَك


When both groups saw each other, companions of Musa said, “We are getting caught.”

قَالَ He said

كَلَّآ Nay

إِنَّ indeed

مَعِىَ with me

maAAiya

رَبِّى (is) my Lord

سَيَهْدِينِ He will guide me

قَالَ رَبَّ هَدَى


He (Musa) said, “Never, my Rabb is with me. He Will guide me.”

فَأَوْحَيْنَآ Then We inspired

وَحَى ضَرَبَ عَصَى بَحَرَ فَلَقَ كَانَ كُلّ فرق طَوْد عَظُمَ


We inspired Musa: “Strike the sea (or large river) with your staff.” After that, it separated, and each part (of the water) was like a high mountain.

26:64


وَأَزْلَفْنَا And We brought near

"We brought the others near" (refers to the group of people with Firon).

وَأَنجَيْنَا And We saved

مَّعَهُۥٓ (were) with him

نَجَا جَمَعَ


And We rescued Musa and whoever was with him altogether.

ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

أَغْرَقْنَا We drowned

Then We drowned the others (party of Firon).

إِنَّ Indeed

فِي آ ىي -آية كَانَ كَثَرَ أمُن


There is a sign, but not many of them were believers.

وَإِنَّ And indeed

رَبَّكَ your Lord

الْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty

الرَّحِيمُ the Most Merciful

رَبَّ عَزَّ رَحِمَ


Indeed, Your Rabb is the One, the Most Powerful, the Most Merciful.

وَاتْلُ And recite

And read (recite) to them the news of Ibrahim.

When he said to his father and his nation, “What do you worship?”

فَنَظَلُّ so we will remain

عَاكِفِينَ devoted

قَالَ عَبَدَ صَنَم ظَلَّ عَكَفَ


They said, “We worship idols (images), and we remain (seated in front of them) devoted to them.”

قَالَ He said

يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ they hear you

قَالَ سَمَعَ دَعَا


He (Ibrahim) said, “Do they listen to you when you call them?

يَنفَعُونَكُمْ (do) they benefit you

يَضُرُّونَ they harm (you)

نَفَعَ ضَرَّ


Or do they benefit (help) you, or do they harm (hurt)?”

وَجَدْنَآ but we found

اٰبَآءَنَا our forefathers

قَالَ وَجَدَ أَب فَعَلَ


They said, “But we found our forefathers doing similar to this.”

أَفَرَأَيْتُم Do you see?

قَالَ رَأَى كَانَ عَبَدَ


He said, “Do you see what you have been worshipping?

أَنتُمْ You

Antum

وَآبَآؤُكُمُ and your forefathers

الْأَقْدَمُونَ those who are the ancient

You and your fathers (who) dare (have audacity) to do this.

فَإِنَّهُمْ Indeed they

عَدُوٌّ (are) enemies

He is the One who Created me and then Guided me.

وَالَّذِى And the One Who

يُطْعِمُنِى gives me food

وَيَسْقِينِ and gives me drink

طَعِمَ سَقَى


He is the One who feeds me and provides me with water (drinks).

وَإِذَا And when

مَرِضْتُ I am ill

يَشْفِينِ cures me

And when I get sick, He is the One who cures me.

وَالَّذِى And the One Who

Waallathee

يُمِيتُنِى will cause me to die

يُحْيِينِ he will give me life

And He is the One who will give me death, and then He will resurrect me.

وَالَّذِىٓ And the One Who

He is the One I hope that He will forgive my mistakes on the Day of the Last Judgment.”

“O My Rabb! Grant me wisdom, and join me with the righteous.

And make me a spokesman of truth in the latter (generations).

وَاجْعَلْنِى And make me

And make me from the inheritor of the blessed Gardens of Paradise.

وَاغْفِرْ And forgive

And forgive my father; he is among those who have lost the straight path.

And do not humiliate me on the Day they will be resurrected.

وَأُزْلِفَتِ And (will be) brought near

الْجَنَّةُ the Paradise

زَلَفَ جنّ وقى


And Paradise will be brought closer to the God-fearing.

وَبُرِّزَتِ And (will be) made manifest

بَرَزَ جحم غَوَى


And Hell will appear for the misled (misguided).

And they will be told, “Where are those you were worshipping?

From other than Allah? Do they help you, or can they help themselves?”

فَكُبْكِبُوا Then they will be overturned

وَالْغَاوُونَ and the deviators

Then they will be thrown in there and the misguided.

وَجُنُودُ And (the) hosts

And the army of Iblis, altogether.

يَخْتَصِمُونَ (are) disputing

They will say, as they dispute in it.

تَاللّٰهِ By Allah

إِن indeed

كُنَّا we were

لَفِى surely in

ضَلَالٍ error

مُّبِينٍ clear

mubeenin
ب ي ن
٩٧

إِله كَانَ ضلّ بَا نَ


“By Allah, We have been on an apparently misleading path.

إِذْ When

نُسَوِّيكُم we equated you

nusawweekum

بِرَبِّ with (the) Lord

الْعَالَمِينَ (of) the worlds

سوِي رَبَّ علِم


When we made you equal to the Rabb of the universe.

وَمَآ And not

Wama

أَضَلَّنَآ misguided us

الْمُجْرِمُونَ the criminals

Nobody misguided us except the criminals.

شَفَعَ


And nobody for us to intercede.

وَلَا And not

صَدَقَ حَمَّ


And no intimate friends.

فَلَوْ Then if

فَنَكُونَ then we could be

If only we could have another round (chance), we would be among the believers.”

Indeed, these are the signs, but many of them are not believers.

الْعَزِيزُ (is) the All-Mighty

And indeed, Your Rabb is the Most Powerful, the Most Merciful.

كَذَّبَتْ Denied

The nation of Noah denied the Messengers.

Their brother Noah said to them, “Why do you not fear (Allah)?

To you, I am a trustworthy (honest) Messenger.

So, fear Allah and follow me.

I do not ask you for any reward for this. My reward is only with Rabb of the universe.

أَنُؤْمِنُ Should we believe?

الْأَرْذَلُونَ the lowest

قَالَ أمُن تبِع رَذَلَ


They said, “Should we believe in you while the despicable (worthless in our society) adhere to you?”

He said, “I do not know what they do.”

Their account is only with my Rabb if you realize.

بِطَارِدِ the one to drive away

الْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers

And I am not going to drive (push) away the believers.

إِنْ Not

I am only a clear Warner.”

لَتَكُونَنَّ Surely you will be

قَالَ نها كَانَ رَجَمَ


They said, “If you do not terminate (advising), O Noah, you will be among those stoned to death.”

قَالَ رَبَّ قَامَ كَذَبَ


He said, "O my Rabb, my nation has denied me."

فَافْتَحْ So judge

بَيْنِى between me

وَبَيْنَهُمْ and between them

فَتْحًا (with decisive) judgment

وَنَجِّنِى and save me

wanajjinee

وَمَن and who

waman

مَّعِىَ (are) with me

maAAiya

مِنَ of

mina

الْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers

١١٨

فتح بَا نَ بَا نَ فتح نَجَا أمُن


So, disclose between me and them (the truth) and grant me victory, and rescue me, and whoever is with me among the believers.”

فَأَنجَيْنَاهُ So We saved him

مَّعَهُۥ (were) with him

الْمَشْحُونِ laden

نَجَا فِي فَلَكَ شَحَنَ


So, We rescued him and whoever was with him in the loaded boat.

Thumma

أَغْرَقْنَا We drowned

الْبَاقِينَ the remaining ones

غرِق بعُد بَقِىَ


Then, Afterwards, we drowned the rest.

Do you build every place of choice a mark in vain (of a plaything, enjoyment)?

وَتَتَّخِذُونَ And take for yourselves

مَصَانِعَ strongholds

لَعَلَّكُمْ that you may

تَخْلُدُونَ live forever

أَخَذَ صَنَعَ خَلَدَ


And you take (build with) craftsmanship, hoping you live forever?

وَإِذَا And when

And when you oppress, you oppress as a tyrant?

And be devoted to the One, Who assisted you in understanding knowledge (to be informed, to gain understanding).

أَمَدَّكُم He has aided you

وَبَنِينَ and children

مدّ نَعَمَ بَا نَ


He assisted you with grazing animals and children.

وَجَنَّاتٍ And gardens

Wajannatin

وَعُيُونٍ and springs

waAAuyoonin

جنّ عين


And (provided you) gardens and springs.

إِنِّىٓ Indeed I

أَخَافُ [I] fear

عَذَابَ (the) punishment

عَظِيمٍ Great

I fear for you the torment of a great day”

أَوَعَظْتَ whether you advise

lam

تَكُن you are

مِّنَ of

الْوَاعِظِينَ the advisors

١٣٦

قَالَ سَوِيَ وَعَظَ كَانَ وَعَظَ


They said, “It is equal to us. If you preach (reprimand) to us or you are not among the preachers (Warner).

إِنْ Not

هَٰذَآ (is) this

إِلَّا but

خُلُقُ (the) custom

الْأَوَّلِينَ (of) the former (people)

خَلَقَ ا و ل


This is nothing but the morality of the ancestors.

نَحْنُ we

nahnu

بِمُعَذَّبِينَ (are) the ones to be punished

And we will not be punished.”

فَكَذَّبُوهُ So they denied him

So, they denied him, and We destroyed them. There is a sign in this, but many of them were not to be believers.

زَرَعَ نَخَلَ طَلَعَ هَضَمَ


And cultivation and palm trees with the wholesome rising spadix (pollens).

وَتَنْحِتُونَ And you carve

ف ر ه

نَحَتَ جبل بَا تَ NF


And you carve out homes in the mountains skillfully?

فَاتَّقُوا So fear

And do not follow instructions of the extravagant.

Those who spread immorality (corruption) in the earth, and do not promote peace.”

You are nothing but a human like us. So, bring a sign, if you have been from the truthful.”

نَاقَةٌ (is) a she-camel

He said, “This is a she-camel; for her is (assigned day for) water and for you is known (assigned) day.

مسّ سَا ءَ أَخَذَ عَذُبَ يوْم عَظُمَ


And do not touch her with ill harm, or you will be followed with the punishment on an oppressing day.”

فَعَقَرُوهَا But they hamstrung her

But they injured her, and they woke up with remorse.

They (Non-believers among the nation of Lut) said, “If you do not refrain, O Lut, you will be among the deported.”

وَأَمْطَرْنَا And We rained

And We rained down on them a rain. It was an evil rain for those given the warning.

And do not decrease things (materials) for humankind and do not act wickedly in the land, causing corruption.

And fear Him, Who has created (molded, formed), and fashioned you, and from the beginning naturally disposed you to do good or evil.”

But they denied him. So, they were seized with the punishment of a shaded (dark) period. That was a tremendously distressing period of punishment.

That is how We pass it through the hearts of the sinners (pass through without understanding).

أمُن رَأَى عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


They will never believe in it until they see the painful punishment.

فَيَأْتِيَهُم And it will come to them

Fayatiyahum

بَغْتَةً suddenly

وَهُمْ while they

لَا (do) not

يَشْعُرُونَ perceive

أتى بَغَتَ شعر


It will come to them suddenly before they realize it.

26:203


فَيَقُولُوا Then they will say

Fayaqooloo

هَلْ Are?

نَحْنُ we

nahnu

مُنظَرُونَ (to be) reprieved

قَالَ نَظَرَ


Then they will say, “Can we be postponed (delayed, given respite)?”

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا So is it for Our punishment?

يَسْتَعْجِلُونَ they wish to hasten

Were they not hurrying up for Our Punishment?

أَفَرَأَيْتَ Then have you seen?

مَّتَّعْنَاهُمْ We let them enjoy

رَأَى مَتَعَ سَنَته


Do you see that: if We provide them enjoyment for years?

ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

جَآءَهُم comes to them

يُوعَدُونَ promised

جَاءَ كَانَ وَعَدَ


Then there comes to them what they have been promised.

أَغْنَىٰ (will) avail

غَنِيَ كَانَ مَتَعَ


It will not be useful for them what they have been enjoying in the past.

وَمَآ And not

Wama

أَهْلَكْنَا We destroyed

قَرْيَةٍ town

إِلَّا but

لَهَا it had

مُنذِرُونَ warners

munthiroona
ن ذ ر
٢٠٨

هَلَكَ قَرَى نَذَرَ


We did not destroy a town, but there were Warners for them.

ذِكْرَىٰ (To) remind

Thikra

وَمَا and not

كُنَّا We are

ظَالِمِينَ unjust

ذَكّرَ كَانَ ظَلَمَ


They have been reminded, and We are never unjust.

26:210


وَمَا And not

Wama

تَنَزَّلَتْ have brought down

بِهِ with it

bihi

الشَّيَاطِينُ the devils

نَزَلَ شَيَطن


And the shaitans did not descend with it.

26:211


وَمَا And not

Wama

يَنبَغِى (it) suits

yanbaghee

لَهُمْ [for] them

وَمَا and not

wama

يَسْتَطِيعُونَ they are able

بغى طَاعَ


And it is not appropriate for them nor are they capable.

إِنَّهُمْ Indeed they

السَّمْعِ the hearing

لَمَعْزُولُونَ (are) surely banished

سَمَعَ عَزَلَ


They are removed from listening to it.

فَلَا So (do) not

فَتَكُونَ lest you be

الْمُعَذَّبِينَ those punished

٢١٣

دَعَا إِله إِله أخر كَانَ عَذُبَ


So, never call other gods with Allah, then you will be among the punished.

26:214


وَأَنذِرْ And warn

عَشِيرَتَكَ your kindred

الْأَقْرَبِينَ [the] closest

نَذَرَ عَشَرَ قرُب


And give a warning to your companions and kinship of relatives.

وَاخْفِضْ And lower

جَنَاحَكَ your wing

اتَّبَعَكَ follow you

الْمُؤْمِنِينَ the believers

خَفَضَ جَنَحَ تبِع أمُن


And incline to become easy for those who follow you among the believers.

فَإِنْ Then if

عَصَى قَالَ بَرِ ىءَ عَمِلَ


And if they disobey you, say, “I am absolved from the blame for what you do.”

وَتَوَكَّلْ And put (your) trust

الْعَزِيزِ the All-Mighty

وَكَلَ عَزَّ رَحِمَ


And put your trust in the Most Powerful, the Most Merciful.

الَّذِى The One Who

He Is the One Who Sees you when you stand.

وَتَقَلُّبَكَ And your movements

And your movements among those who prostrate.

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He

هُوَ [He]

huwa

السَّمِيعُ (is) the All-Hearer

سَمَعَ علِم


Indeed, He is the One who Listens and Has a Complete Knowledge.

تَنَزَّلُ They descend

نَزَلَ كُلّ أَفَكَ أثِم


They descend on every liar sinner.

يُلْقُونَ They pass on

السَّمْعَ (what is) heard

وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ and most of them

waaktharuhum

كَاذِبُونَ (are) liars

kathiboona
ك ذ ب
٢٢٣

لقِي سَمَعَ كَثَرَ كَذَبَ


They encounter listening, and many of them are liars.

وَالشُّعَرَآءُ And the poets

WaalshshuAAarao

يَتَّبِعُهُمُ follow them

الْغَاوُونَ the deviators

شعر تبِع غَوَى


And the poets follow the temptations.

أَلَمْ Do not?

أَنَّهُمْ that they

وَادٍ valley

يَهِيمُونَ [they] roam

yaheemoona

رَأَى فِي كُلّ فَدَى هَامَ


Do you not see them wander in every valley?

وَأَنَّهُمْ And that they

And they say what they do not do?

وَانتَصَرُوا and defend themselves

وَسَيَعْلَمُ And will come to know

الَّذِينَ those who

ظَلَمُوٓاْ have wronged

أَىَّ (to) what?

مُنقَلَبٍ return

munqalabin

يَنقَلِبُونَ they will return

٢٢٧

أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ ذَكّرَ إِلَٰه كَثَرَ نَصَرَ بعُد ظَلَمَ علِم ظَلَمَ قلب قلب


Except for those who believe, do righteous deeds, remember Allah in great numbers (on many occasions), and come to aid after they were treated unjustly. As for those who did the unjust, how is it (look now) when they (things) are turned around?
