طه Ta Ha

Taha

Ta Ha

20:2


مَآ Not

Ma

أَنزَلْنَا We (have) sent down

عَلَيْكَ to you

AAalayka

الْقُرْاٰنَ the Quran

ق ر أ
لِتَشْقَىٰٓ that you be distressed

litashqa
ش ق و
٢

نَزَلَ قَرَأَ شْقى


We did not reveal (send down) the Quran to cause you any hardship.

20:3


إِلَّا (But)

Illa

تَذْكِرَةً (as) a reminder

لِّمَن for (those) who

يَخْشَىٰ fear

ذَكّرَ خَشَيَ


Except as a reminder for those who fear (Allah).

تَنزِيلًا A revelation

مِّمَّنْ from (He) Who

الْأَرْضَ the earth

وَالسَّمَاوَاتِ and the heavens

نَزَلَ خَلَقَ أَ رَضْ سما عَلَا


A revelation from Him, Who created the earth and the heavens above (high elevated universe).

الرَّحْمَٰنُ The Most Gracious

الْعَرْشِ the Throne

اسْتَوَىٰ is established

رَحِمَ عَرَشَ سَوِيَ


Most Merciful firmly established on the Throne.

لَهُۥ To Him (belongs)

السَّمَاوَاتِ the heavens

الثَّرَىٰ the soil

فِي سما فِي أَ رَضْ بَا نَ تحْت NF


For Him, whatever is in the universe, whatever is in the earth, whatever is between them, and whatever is below the ground.

وَإِن And if

جهر قَالَ علِم سَرَّ خَفَيَ


If you announce (declare, speak loudly) the word, for indeed, He knows the secrets you hide (when you say something but hide what is true in your heart).

اللهُ Allah

لَآ (there is) no

لَهُ To Him (belong)

الْأَسْمَآءُ the Names

الْحُسْنَىٰ the Most Beautiful

إِلَٰه إِله سَمِي حَسَنَ


Allah, there is no other God except Him, for Him are the best Attributes (Names).

وَهَلْ And has?

أَتَاكَ come to you

Have Musa's conversations come to you (news of the incident)?

رَأَى نَار قَالَ أهَلَ مَكَثَ أَنِسَ نَار أتى قَبَسَ وَجَدَ نَار هَدَى


When he saw a fire, he told his family, “Stay; I sense fire; Perhaps I can bring you a firebrand from it, or I (may) find guidance on the fire.”

20:11


فَلَمَّآ Then when

أَتَاهَا he came to it

Then a call came to him, “O Musa.”

20:12


إِنِّىٓ Indeed [I]

رَبُّكَ your Lord

رَبَّ خَلَعَ نَعَلَ وَدَى قَدُسَ طَوَى


I am your Lord. Remove your shoes. You are in the holy valley of Tuwa.

20:13


وَأَنَا And I

Waana

اخْتَرْتُكَ I (have) chosen you

فَاسْتَمِعْ so listen

لِمَا to what

يُوحَىٰٓ is revealed

خَيرَ سَمَعَ وَحَى


I have chosen you, so listen to what is inspired.

20:14


إِنَّنِىٓ Indeed [I]

أَنَا I Am

أَنَا I

ana

فَاعْبُدْنِى so worship Me

وَأَقِمِ and establish

الصَّلَوٰةَ the prayer

لِذِكْرِىٓ for My remembrance

١٤

إِلَٰه إِله عَبَدَ قَامَ صلو ذَكّرَ


No doubt I am Allah (your Lord). There is no other god except Me. So, worship Me and establish the prayers for My remembrance.

20:15


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

السَّاعَةَ the Hour (Qeyama)

تَسْعَى it strives

سَاعته أتى كَيدَ خَفَيَ جَزَى كُلّ نفُس سعى


Truly, The Hour of Resurrection is coming; I have it hidden so that every soul (human being) is rewarded (paid) for what it strives for.

20:16


فَلَا So (do) not

يَصُدَّنَّكَ (let) avert you

بِهَا in it

وَاتَّبَعَ and follows

فَتَرْدَىٰ lest you perish

صَدَّ أمُن تبِع هوى رَدِى


Then, do not let him prevent you from it (believing); who does not believe in this and follow his desires? Otherwise, you will be turned away (from forgiveness).

20:17


وَمَا And what?

تِلْكَ (is) that

بِيَمِينِكَ in your right hand

يَمَنَ


“And what is that in your right hand, O Musa?”

20:18


قَالَ He said

هِىَ It

عَصَاىَ (is) my staff

أَتَوَكَّؤُا I lean

atawakkao
و ك أ
عَلَيْهَا upon it

AAalayha

وَأَهُشُّ and I bring down leaves

waahushshu

بِهَا with it

عَلَىٰ for

AAala

غَنَمِى my sheep

ghanamee
غ ن م
وَلِىَ and for me

waliya

فِيهَا in it

feeha

مَآرِبُ (are) uses

maaribu
أ ر ب
أُخْرَىٰ other

١٨

قَالَ عَصَى وَكَأَ هشّ غَنِمَ آرِبُ أخر


He said, "This is my staff. I lean on it and drive my sheep, and I have other purposes." Note. (Allah showed Musa that the staff could be changed through a Miracle; first, have Musa explain the staff's properties as an ordinary staff and then later reveal that it could be transformed into a live snake through a miracle).

قَالَ He said

أَلْقِهَا Throw it down

قَالَ لقِي


Allah said, “Put it down, O Musa!”

20:20


فَأَلْقَاهَا So he threw it down

فَإِذَا and behold!

حَيَّةٌ (was) a snake

تَسْعَى moving swiftly

لقِي حي سعى


He then placed it on the ground, and it transformed into a slithering snake.

20:21


قَالَ He said

خُذْهَا Seize it

وَلَا and (do) not

تَخَفْ fear

سَنُعِيدُهَا We will return it

سِيرَتَهَا (to) its state

الْأُولَىٰ the former

قَالَ أَخَذَ خَفَيَ عاد سَارَ اول


Allah said, “Hold it and do not fear. We will return it to its pristine condition.

وَاضْمُمْ And draw near

ضَمَّ يدي جَنَحَ خرج بَا ضَ غير سَا ءَ آ ىي -آية أخر


And join your hand to your side; it will come out white without any harm, (this is) another sign.

20:23


لِنُرِيَكَ That We may show you

اٰيَاتِنَا Our Signs

الْكُبْرَى the Greatest

رَأَى آ ىي -آية كَبَرَ


For you to see Our greatest signs.

اذْهَبْ Go

Ithhab

فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun

firAAawna

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed he

طَغَىٰ (has) transgressed

ذهب طَغَا


Go to Firon; he is a tyrant.”

قَالَ He said

رَبِّ My Lord!

قَالَ رَبَّ شَرَحَ صدر


Musa said, "My Rabb, open my chest for me."

وَيَسِّرْ And ease

And make my matters easy for me.

وَاحْلُلْ And untie

And untie the knot from my tongue

يَفْقَهُواْ That they may understand

They understand my words.

وَاجْعَل And appoint

And appoint a supporter for me from my family.

اشْدُدْ Reinforce

Give me strong support through him.

وَأَشْرِكْهُ And make him share

And join him in my matters.

كَىْ That

Kay

نُسَبِّحَكَ we may glorify You

سبح كَثَرَ


So, we praise You more frequently (more often).

وَنَذْكُرَكَ And [we] remember You

And remember You often (frequently).

إِنَّكَ Indeed [You]

قَالَ أتى سأل


Allah said, “Your request is granted (concluded), O Musa,(You are granted what you asked, O Musa).

وَلَقَدْ And indeed

Walaqad

مَنَنَّا We conferred a favor

مَنَّ مرّ أخر


And indeed, We have favored you another time.

فِي فِي تَابُوت فِي فِي يمّ لقِي يمّ سّاحِل أَخَذَ عدا عدا لقِي حَبَّ صَنَعَ عين


To drop him in the box, drop it (the box) in the sea; then the sea will cast him at the coast where my enemy and his enemy will pick (take) him. And I put my love in you to build (raise) you under My eyes.

قَدَرٍ the decreed (time)

يَامُوسَىٰٓ O Musa!

٤٠

مَشَى أ خو قَالَ دَلَّ كَفَلَ رَجَعَ أ مّ قَرَّ عين حَزَنَ قَتَلَ نفُس نَجَا غَمَّ فَتَنَ فَتَنَ لبِث سَنَته أهَلَ جَاءَ قدر


When your sister walked and said, "Can I guide you to someone who can be responsible for him?". Then, We returned you to your mother so that her eyes will be delighted and not be sad. And you killed a person, but We rescued you from the distress, tested you, and subjected you to test. And you stayed in the city dwellers for years; then you came as ordained, O Musa. (Note: The information of the previous history of Musa ('alaihis-salām) was provided to Mūsā ('alaihis-salām) where nobody else knew the details, for him to believe that Only Allah Knew Musa's background and the details).

وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ And I (have) chosen you

And I made (commissioned) you for myself.

اذْهَبْ Go

Go, you and your brother with My signs, and do not be slow to remember Me.

اذْهَبَآ Go both of you

Both of you Go to Firon. He is a tyrant.

فَقُولَا And both speak

قَالَ قَالَ لَانَ ذَكّرَ خَشَيَ


Then both of you speak to him softly so that maybe he will remember or fear.”

قَالَ رَبَّ خَافَ فرط طَغَا


They (Moses and Haroon) said, “O our Rabb, we fear that he will be excessive (in dealing) with us or that he will be violent.”

He said, "Do not be afraid, for I am with you, I hear and see."

فَأْتِيَاهُ So both of you go to him

فَقُولَآ and you both say

جِئْنَاكَ we came to you

بِاٰيَةٍ with a Sign

مِّن from

رَّبِّكَ your Lord

وَالسَّلَامُ And peace

عَلَىٰ on

مَنِ (one) who

اتَّبَعَ follows

الْهُدَىٰٓ the Guidance

٤٧

أتى قَالَ رَسِلَ رَبَّ رَسِلَ اِبْن عَذُبَ جَاءَ آ ىي -آية رَبَّ سلِم تبِع هَدَى


Then they came to him and said, ‘We both are messengers of your Rabb, so send the Children of Israelites with us and do not torture them. Indeed, we came to you with signs from your Rabb, and peace be upon those who follow the guidance.

20:48


إِنَّا Indeed we

قَدْ verily

أُوحِىَ it has been revealed

عَلَىٰ (will be) on

وَتَوَلَّىٰ and turns away

وَحَى عَذُبَ كَذَبَ وَلِيَ


We are inspired that the punishment is upon those who lie intensely and turn away. (Intense lairs confirm only what they desire and ignore the facts that will contradict their desires.)

قَالَ He said

He (Firon) said, “Then who is your Rabb, O Musa?”

قَالَ رَبَّ عَطَا كُلّ شِاءَ خَلَقَ هَدَى


He (Musa) said, “Our Rabb is the One who has given everything its existence (creation), then guided it.”

قَالَ بَال قرن اول


He (Firon) said, “What will be the matter (decision) with the earlier associates (societies who were nonbelievers)?”

He (Musa) said, "Its knowledge is with my Rabb in a Book. My Rabb neither errs nor forgets".

جعل أَ رَضْ مَهْد سُلَط سَبَلَ نَزَلَ سَمَا مَا ءَ خرج زَاجَ نَبَتَ شَتَّ


He made the earth a cradle (resting place) for you, made paths in this for you, and sent down water from the sky; then We produced the pairs of dispersed plants from it.

كُلُوا Eat

وَارْعَوْا and pasture

أَنْعَامَكُمْ your cattle

لَآيَاتٍ surely (are) Signs

لِّأُوْلِى for possessors

النُّهَىٰ (of) intelligence

أكل رَعَى نَعَمَ فِي آ ىي -آية اول نها


Eat and graze your livestock. In these, there are signs for those with intelligence.

مِنْهَا From it

Minha

خَلَقْنَاكُمْ We created you

وَفِيهَا and in it

نُعِيدُكُمْ We will return you

وَمِنْهَا and from it

waminha

نُخْرِجُكُمْ We will bring you out

أُخْرَىٰ another

okhra
أ خ ر
٥٥

خَلَقَ عاد خرج تَارَةً أخر


From this, We created you, and in this, We will return you, and from this, We will bring you out at another time.

20:56


وَلَقَدْ And verily

Walaqad

أَرَيْنَاهُ We showed him

اٰيَاتِنَا Our Signs

فَكَذَّبَ but he denied

fakaththaba
ك ذ ب
وَأَبَىٰ and refused

رَأَى آ ىي -آية كُلّ كَذَبَ أَبَى


And indeed, We showed him (Firon) all Our signs, but he denied and rejected.

20:57


قَالَ He said

أَجِئْتَنَا Have you come to us?

قَالَ جَاءَ خرج رَضِيَ سَحَرَ


(Firon) Said, “Did you come to us to expel us from our land with your magic? O, Musa?

فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَ Then we will surely produce for you

فَاجْعَلْ So make

نُخْلِفُهُۥ we will fail it

وَلَآ and not

أَنتَ you

مَكَانًا (in) a place

سُوًى even

٥٨

أتى سَحَرَ مَثَلَ جعل بَا نَ بَا نَ وَعَدَ خَلَفَ مَكُنَ سوِي


We will bring you similar magic, so commit (to compete) between you and between us, which neither you nor we will break in an equal place.”

20:59


قَالَ He said

مَوْعِدُكُمْ Your appointment

mawAAidukum
و ع د
يَوْمُ (is on the) day

الزِّينَةِ (of) the festival

وَأَن and that

waan

يُحْشَرَ will be assembled

yuhshara
ح ش ر
النَّاسُ the people

alnnasu
ن و س
ضُحًى (at) forenoon

duhan
ض ح و
٥٩

قَالَ وَعَدَ يوْم زَانَ حَشَرَ أَنِسَ ضَحَا


Musa said, “Commitment to you on a nice day (of decoration) so that the people will gather in daylight.”

فَتَوَلَّىٰ Then went away

فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun

فَجَمَعَ and put together

كَيْدَهُۥ his plan

ثُمَّ then

أَتَىٰ came

وَلِيَ جَمَعَ كَيدَ أتى


Firon turned away, collected his conspiracy, and then came.

قَالَ Said

مُّوسَىٰ Musa

وَيْلَكُمْ Woe to you!

لَا (Do) not

عَلَى against

اللهِ Allah

Allahi

كَذِبًا a lie

ك ذ ب
فَيُسْحِتَكُمْ lest He will destroy you

fayushitakum

بِعَذَابٍ with a punishment

ع ذ ب
وَقَدْ And verily

waqad

خَابَ he failed

مَنِ who

افْتَرَىٰ invented

ف ر ي
٦١

قَالَ وَيْل فتر إِله كَذَبَ سُحْتَ عَذُبَ خَابَ فتر


Musa said to them, “Woe to you. Do not fabricate a lie on Allah, or you will be given a forbidden punishment. Those who fabricate lies will fail.”

فَتَنَازَعُوٓا Then they disputed

نَزَعَ أمر بَا نَ سَرَّ نَجَا


Then the matter was controversial among them, and they secretly whisper to each other.

قَالُوٓاْ They said

إِنْ Indeed

in

هَٰذَانِ these two

hathani

لَسَاحِرَانِ [two] magicians

lasahirani
س ح ر
يُرِيدَانِ they both intend

yureedani
ر و د
أَن that

an

يُخْرِجَاكُم they both drive you out

yukhrijakum
خ ر ج
مِّنْ of

min

أَرْضِكُم your land

ardikum
أ ر ض
بِسِحْرِهِمَا both with their magic

bisihrihima
س ح ر
وَيَذْهَبَا and both do away

wayathhaba
ذ ه ب
بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ with your way

bitareeqatikumu
ط ر ق
الْمُثْلَىٰ the exemplary

almuthla
م ث ل
٦٣

قَالَ سَحَرَ رَادَ خرج رَضِيَ سَحَرَ ذهب طَرَقَ مَثَلَ


They said, "These are two sorcerers who want to drive you out of your land with their magic." and destroy your exemplary way (of life).

20:64


فَأَجْمِعُوا So put together

كَيْدَكُمْ your plan

صَفًّا (in) a line

ص ف ف
وَقَدْ And verily

أَفْلَحَ (will be) successful

اسْتَعْلَىٰ overcomes

ع ل و
٦٤

جَمَعَ كَيدَ أتى صَفَّ فًلَحَ يوْم عَلَا


So, gather your conspiracies, then come in a row, and whoever will rise above (win) will prosper on this day.”

قَالُواْ They said

يَامُوسَىٰٓ O Musa!

قَالَ لقِي كَانَ اول لقِي


They said, “O Musa, either you put down, or we will be first to put down.”

أَنَّهَا that they

قَالَ لقِي حَبَلَ عَصَى خال سَحَرَ سعى


Musa said, “You put down.” And then, their ropes and sticks appeared to him from their magic as they were running.

20:67


فَأَوْجَسَ So sensed

وَجَسَ فِي نفُس خَفَيَ


So, Musa sensed fear in him.

قَالَ خَفَيَ عَلَا


We said, “Do not be afraid; you are the higher.

وَأَلْقِ And throw

لقِي فِي يَمَنَ لَقِفَ صَنَعَ صَنَعَ كَيدَ سَحَرَ فًلَحَ سَحَرَ حَيْثُ أتى


Now, put down what is in your right hand; it will snatch what they make. What they were making was no more than a conspiracy of magic (a sorcerer's plot). The magician will not succeed wherever he goes.

فَأُلْقِىَ So were thrown down

لقِي سَحَرَ سَجَدَ قَالَ أَ مُنَ رَبَّ


The magicians then submitted and bowed down. They said, “We believe in the Rabb of Haroon and Musa.”

قَالَ He said

اٰمَنتُمْ You believe

فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ So surely I will cut off

أَيْدِيَكُمْ your hands

وَأَرْجُلَكُم and your feet

مِّنْ of

خِلَافٍ opposite sides

وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ and surely I will crucify you

فِى on

جُذُوعِ (the) trunks

النَّخْلِ (of) date-palms

وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ and surely you will know

walataAAlamunna

أَيُّنَآ which of us?

ayyuna

أَشَدُّ (is) more severe

ashaddu
ش د د
عَذَابًا (in) punishment

AAathaban
ع ذ ب
وَأَبْقَىٰ and more lasting

waabqa
ب ق ي
٧١

قَالَ أمُن قَبِلَ أَذن كَبَرَ علِم سَحَرَ قَطَعَ يدي رَجِلَ خَلَفَ صَلَبَ فِي جَزِعَ نَخَلَ علِم شَدَّ عَذُبَ بَقِىَ


(Firon) Said, “Did you believe in him before I permitted you? Indeed, he is the big (master magician) among you; he is the one who taught you the magic. I will cut your hands and legs from opposite sides, putting you on the cross from the shaft of a date palm tree. Then you will learn who is more severe in punishment and long-lasting.”

مَآ whatever

أَنتَ you

قَاضٍ (are) decreeing

إِنَّمَا Only

تَقْضِى you can decree

هَٰذِهِ (for) this

الْحَيَاةَ life

الدُّنْيَآ (of) the world

قَالَ أثر جَاءَ بَا نَ فَطَرَ قَضَى قَضَى قَضَى حي دَنَا


The magicians said, "We do not prefer you over what we have received as evidence from (Allah), who created us. Therefore, decide whatever you (want to) decide, for your decisions (will only affect) this worldly life.

إِنَّآ Indeed [we]

اٰمَنَّا we believe

لِيَغْفِرَ that He may forgive

خَطَايَانَا our sins

وَمَآ and what

أَكْرَهْتَنَا you compelled us

عَلَيْهِ on it

AAalayhi

مِنَ of

السِّحْرِ the magic

س ح ر
وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

waAllahu
أ ل ه
خَيْرٌ (is) Best

khayrun
خ ي ر
وَأَبْقَىٰٓ and Ever Lasting

waabqa
ب ق ي
٧٣

أَ مُنَ رَبَّ غفر خَطِيءَ كَرِهَ سَحَرَ إِلَٰه خَيرَ بَقِىَ


Indeed, we believe in our Rabb, so He will forgive us for our mistakes and what you have forced us to perform for the magic. Allah is Best and Everlasting.”

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed he

Whoever comes to his Rabb as a sinner, then for him is Hell, in which he neither dies nor lives.

أتى أمُن عَمِلَ صَلَحَ دَرَجَ عَلَا


But whoever came to Him as a believer and did the righteous deeds will have higher ranks.

جنّ عَدْن جَرَى تحْت نهر خَلَدَ جَزَى زَكَا


The gardens of Eden, under which rivers flow, shall dwell therein forever; this is the reward of one who purifies himself (righteous).

وَلَقَدْ And verily

وَحَى أسر عَبَدَ ضَرَبَ طَرَقَ فِي بَحَرَ بسط خَفَيَ دَرَك خَشَيَ


And indeed, We inspired Musa: “Travel by night with My slaves, and for them strike a path in the sea, driving on, not to be feared of being overtaken, nor afraid.

20:78


فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ Then followed them

تبِع جُنْد غَشَا يمّ غَشَا


Firon followed them with his soldiers, but they were overwhelmed by the ocean (and that is) what covered (drowned) them.

وَأَضَلَّ And led astray

وَالسَّلْوَىٰ and the quails

اِبْن نَجَا عدا وَعَدَ جَنَبَ طَارَ يَمَنَ نَزَلَ مَنَّ


O Children of Israel! We have saved you from your enemy, and We promised for a meeting with you at the right side of Mount Toor, and We sent down upon you consolation (comforts of life) and peace.

كُلُوا Eat

أكل طَابَ رَزَقَ طَغَا فِي حَلَّ غضِب حَلَّ غضِب هوى


Eat from the good things We have provided for your sustenance but do not be excessive to justify my wrath. Whoever justifies my wrath has fallen into the abyss.

وَإِنِّى But indeed I Am

لَغَفَّارٌ the Perpetual Forgiver

وَمَآ And what?

Musa said, "I hurried to you, my Rabb, so you would be pleased. They are following me."

(Allah) Said, “We have tested your nation after you and the Samri (entertainer in the evening) has misled them.”

رَجَعَ قَامَ غضِب أَ سِفَ قَالَ قَامَ عاد رَبَّ وَعَدَ حَسَنَ طَالَ عَهِدَ رَادَ حَلَّ غضِب رَبَّ خَلَفَ وَعَدَ


So, Musa returned to his nation, angry and sad. He said, “O my nation, did your Rabb not promise you good things? Did those promises become too (tall) long? Or do you desire that the wrath of your Rabb is to be justified, so, then (why) did you break the promise with me?”

قَالَ خَلَقَ وَعَدَ ملك حَمَلَ وَزَرَ زَانَ قَامَ قَذَفَ لقِي سَمَرَ


They said, “We did not break your promise with our sovereignty of will, but the ornaments of the nation burdened us, so we cast them (in the fire). That is what Samri dictated.”

20:88


فَأَخْرَجَ Then he brought forth

خرج عَجِلَ جَسَد خَارَ قَالَ إِله إِله نَسِيَ


Then he extracted a calf's body for them; it was mooing. And they said, "This is your god, and it is the god of Musa, but he (Musa) forgot."

أَفَلَا Then did not?

Did they not think that it cannot respond to their words and has no power to harm or benefit them?

قَالَ قَبِلَ قَامَ فَتَنَ رَبَّ رَحِمَ تبِع طَاعَ أمر


And indeed, Haroon said to them earlier, “O my nation; it is what you are being tested with. And your Rabb is the Merciful, so, follow me, and obey my command.”

قَالَ برِح عَكَفَ رَجَعَ


They said, “We will not leave this place and will remain devoted until Musa returns to us.”

He said, “O son of my mother, do not hold onto my beard or head. I feared that you would say, ‘You divided the Children of Israel and did not wait for my word.’”

He said, “I saw what they did not see, so I collected a handful from the impression (trace) of the Messenger, and then I threw it. This is how I answered (satisfied) to my soul.”

لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ Surely we will burn it

لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ certainly we will scatter it

قَالَ ذهب فِي حي قَالَ مسّ وَعَدَ خَلَفَ نَظَرَ إِله ظَلَّ عَكَفَ حَرَقَ نسف فِي يمّ نسف


He said, Go away! In this life, it is for you to say, "Do not touch me." And for you, a promise (of punishment) that will never leave you. Now see your god that you remained devoted; we will burn it and scatter it in the sea as scattered particles."

Your Rabb is Allah; there is no deity except Him. He has encompassed all things in Knowledge.

كَذَٰلِكَ Thus

That is how We have narrated news of the past to you and given you a reminder from Us.

Those who objected will bear a heavy load on the Day of Resurrection.

يوْم نَفَخَ فِي صَارَ حَشَرَ جرم زَرَقَ


On the Day, the Horn is blown; we will gather the sinful on that Blue Day. (World will be changed as a blue color for criminals).

يَتَخَافَتُونَ They are murmuring

They will say in an inaudible voice (fearful of speaking loudly) between them: “You have a stopover (lingered in the world) for only ten (days).”

We know what they say, and the best among them in conduct will say, (it is the same as) “You have lingered for a day.”

20:105


وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ And they ask you

And they ask you about the mountains. Then say, “My Rabb will destroy them like particles blown away.”

فَيَذَرُهَا Then He will leave it

He will make them in tiny particles lying in plain.

You will not see in it crookedness or a repair.

تبِع دَعَا عَوِجَ خَشَعَ صَاتَ رَحِمَ سَمَعَ همس


On that day, they will follow the caller without deviation (hesitation), the voices will be humbled to the Most Merciful, and you will not hear anything but a whisper.

20:109


يَوْمَئِذٍ (On) that Day

On that Day, the intercession will not benefit except who is permitted by the Merciful and allows for his words (allows what to speak).

He Knows what is before and behind them, but they do not fully understand His Knowledge. (He Knows fully about their deeds).

وَعَنَتِ And (will be) humbled

Faces will be compelled (to submit) to Him, the Living, the Eternal. Whoever carried unjustness (deeds) will fail.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

Wakathalika

أَنزَلْنَاهُ We have sent it down

نَزَلَ قَرَأَ عَرَب صَرَفَ فِي وَعَدَ تقى حَدَثَ ذَكّرَ


This is how We sent down the Arabic Quran, and We circulated (repeated) in this the promise that maybe they will fear Allah, or as a warning to remember.

فَتَعَالَىٰ So high (above all)

عَلَا إِلَٰه ملك حَقَّ عَجِلَ قَرَأَ قَبِلَ قَضَى وَحَى قَالَ رَبَّ زَادَ علِم


The Most Exalted Allah, the True Owner. And do not hasten with the Quran before its revelation is completed, and say, “My Rabb, increase my knowledge.”

20:115


وَلَقَدْ And verily

Walaqad

عَهِدْنَآ We made a covenant

عَهِدَ قَبِلَ نَسِيَ وَجَدَ عَزَمَ


And We entrusted to Adam before, but he forgot, and We did not find him with determination.

20:116


وَإِذْ And when

قَالَ ملك سَجَدَ سَجَدَ أَبَى


And when We said to the angels, “Bow down to Adam.” They bowed down, except Iblis; he refused.

20:117


فَقُلْنَا Then We said

Faqulna

يَاآدَمُ O Adam!

إِنَّ Indeed

هَٰذَا this

عَدُوٌّ (is) an enemy

لَّكَ to you

وَلِزَوْجِكَ and to your wife

فَلَا So not

يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا (let) him drive you both

مِنَ from

الْجَنَّةِ Paradise

ج ن ن
فَتَشْقَىٰٓ so (that) you would suffer

fatashqa
ش ق و
١١٧

قَالَ عدا زَاجَ خرج جنّ شْقى


We said, "O Adam, this is your and your wife's enemy, so let him not expel you both from the Garden, for then you will be in hardship.

20:118


إِنَّ Indeed

لَكَ for you

أَلَّا that not

تَجُوعَ you will be hungry

تَعْرَىٰ you will be unclothed

جَاعَ


In it, there is neither hunger nor uncovering for you.

20:119


وَأَنَّكَ And that you

تَظْمَأُ you will suffer from thirst

وَلَا and not

تَضْحَىٰ exposed to the sun's heat

١١٩

ظَمِىءَ ضَحَا


You will not be thirsty in it or (heat of) forenoon (swelter in heat).”

20:120


فَوَسْوَسَ Then whispered

يَبْلَىٰ (that will) deteriorate

وَسْوَسَ شَيَطن قَالَ دَلَّ شَجَرَ خَلَدَ ملك بلو


But shaitan tempted him and said, “O Adam, can I guide you to the tree of eternity and land that will not decay?

20:121


فَأَكَلَا Then they both ate

وَعَصَىٰٓ And disobeyed

فَغَوَىٰ and erred

faghawa

١٢١

أكل بَدَأَ سَا ءَ طَفِقَ وَرَقَ جنّ عَصَى رَبّ غَوَى


And so, they ate from it, and their ill harm (private parts) began to appear suddenly, and they covered themselves from the leaves of the Garden. Adam disobeyed his Rabb and erred.

20:122


ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

اجْتَبَاهُ chose him

وَهَدَىٰ and guided (him)

But then His Rabb answered him and forgave him, and guided him.

20:123

اهْبِطَا Go down both(kinds, Jinn and Human)

قَالَ هَبَطَ جَمَعَ بَعَضَ بَعَضَ عدا أتى هَدَى تبِع هَدَى ضلّ شْقى


(Allah) Said, “Descend from here altogether; you are enemies to each other. But when My guidance comes to you, whoever follows My guidance will not lose their way or be in hardship.

20:124


وَمَنْ And whoever

الْقِيَامَةِ (of) the Resurrection

١٢٤

عَرُضَ ذَكّرَ عَاشَ ضَنُكَ حَشَرَ يوْم قَامَ عَمِيَ


But whoever opposed (raised objections, turns away) the remembrance will have a hard way of life. And We will gather him on the Day of Judgment as blind.”

20:125


قَالَ He will say

رَبِّ My Lord!

He will say, “My Rabb, why did You gather me blind, though I had eyesight?”

20:126


قَالَ He will say

كَذَٰلِكَ Thus

أَتَتْكَ came to you

اٰيَاتُنَا Our Signs

فَنَسِيتَهَا but you forgot them

وَكَذَٰلِكَ and thus

الْيَوْمَ today

تُنسَىٰ you will be forgotten

قَالَ أتى آ ىي -آية نَسِيَ يوْم نَسِيَ


Allah will say, “Just like when My verses-signs came to you, and you forgot them, today, just like that, you are forgotten.”

20:127


وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

Wakathalika

نَجْزِى We recompense

الْاٰخِرَةِ (of) the Hereafter

أَشَدُّ (is) more severe

وَأَبْقَىٰٓ and more lasting

waabqa

١٢٧

جَزَى سَرَف أمُن آ ىي -آية رَبَّ عَذُبَ أخر شَدَّ بَقِىَ


And like that, We punish those who exceed (boundaries) and do not believe in verses-signs of his Rabb. The punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and everlasting.

أَفَلَمْ Then has not?

النُّهَىٰ (of) intelligence

هَدَى هَلَكَ قَبِلَ قرن مَشَى فِي سَكَنَ فِي آ ىي -آية اول نها


Did He not guide them? How many dwellings did We destroy ages before them? They used to walk into their towns. These are signs for those with intelligence.

20:129


وَلَوْلَا And if not

Had it not been for a word that had preceded from your Rabb, the inevitable would have happened, but there is a named appointed time.

صَبَرَ قَالَ سبح حَمِدَ رَبَّ قَبِلَ طَلَعَ شَمَسَ قَبِلَ غَرَبَ أنى لَيْل سبح طَرَفَ نهر رَضِيَ


Be patient about what they say, and glorify with praise to your Rabb before sunrise and before sunset. And during the night (all night long), praise Him in the edge of the daytime so you will be satisfied.

20:131


وَلَا And (do) not

تَمُدَّنَّ extend

لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ that We may test them

linaftinahum
ف ت ن
فِيهِ in it

feehi

وَرِزْقُ And (the) provision

warizqu
ر ز ق
رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord

rabbika
ر ب ب
خَيْرٌ (is) better

khayrun
خ ي ر
وَأَبْقَىٰ and more lasting

waabqa
ب ق ي
١٣١

مدّ عين مَتَعَ زَاجَ زَهَرَ حي دَنَا فَتَنَ فِي رَزَقَ رَبَّ خَيرَ بَقِىَ


And do not extend your eyes, in what We have furnished to these parties as to the beauties of the world. This is Our test for them in it. Provisions of livelihood by your Rabb are best and everlasting.

20:132


وَأْمُرْ And enjoin

Wamur
أ م ر
أَهْلَكَ (on) your family

ahlaka
أ ه ل
بِالصَّلَوٰةِ the prayer

bialssalati
ص ل و
وَاصْطَبِرْ and be steadfast

waistabir
ص ب ر
عَلَيْهَا therein

AAalayha

لَا Not

نَسْـَٔلُكَ We ask you

nasaluka
س أ ل
رِزْقًا (for) provision

rizqan
ر ز ق
نَّحْنُ We

nahnu

نَرْزُقُكَ We provide (for) you

narzuquka
ر ز ق
وَالْعَاقِبَةُ and the outcome

waalAAaqibatu
ع ق ب
لِلتَّقْوَىٰ (is) for the righteous[ness]

lilttaqwa
و ق ي
١٣٢

أمر هَلَكَ صلو صَبَرَ سأل رَزَقَ رَزَقَ عَقَبَ وقى


And instruct your family to pray and be patient while doing so. We do not ask you for sustenance, but We provide you the sustenance. The good ending is for the righteous.

20:133


وَقَالُوا And they say

لَوْلَا Why not

يَأْتِينَا he brings us

بِاٰيَةٍ a sign

رَّبِّهِۦٓ his Lord

أَوَلَمْ Has not?

تَأْتِهِم come to them

بَيِّنَةُ evidence

فِى (was) in

الصُّحُفِ the Scriptures

الْأُولَىٰ the former

aloola

١٣٣

قَالَ أتى آ ىي -آية رَبَّ أتى بَا نَ فِي صحف اول


And they say, "Why does he not come to us with signs from his Rabb?" Didn't the evidence (of signs) come to them in the earlier scriptures (books)?

20:134


وَلَوْ And if

أَهْلَكْنَاهُم We (had) destroyed them

فَنَتَّبِعَ so we (could) have followed

اٰيَاتِكَ Your signs

نَّذِلَّ we were humiliated

ذ ل ل
وَنَخْزَىٰ and we disgraced

wanakhza

١٣٤

هَلَكَ عَذُبَ قَبِلَ قَالَ رَبَّ رَسِلَ رَسِلَ تبِع آ ىي -آية قَبِلَ ذَلَّ خَزَنَ


And if We destroyed them with the punishment before, they would say, “Our Rabb, if only you had sent us a messenger, then we would have followed Your signs earlier, before we are humiliated and disgraced.”

20:135


قُلْ Say

مُّتَرَبِّصٌ (is) waiting

فَتَرَبَّصُوا so await

فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ Then you will know

مَنْ who

أَصْحَابُ (are the) companions

ashabu

الصِّرَاطِ (of) the way

alssirati
ص ر ط
السَّوِىِّ [the] even

alssawiyyi
س و ي
وَمَنِ and who

wamani

اهْتَدَىٰ is guided

ihtada
ه د ي
١٣٥

قَالَ كُلّ رَبَصَ رَبَصَ علِم صَحِبَ صِرَاط سَوِيَ هَدَى


Say, “Everyone is in waiting, so you wait. You will soon know which associations are on the straight path and who are guided.”
