79:1


وَالنَّازِعَاتِ By those who extract

WaalnnaziAAati

غَرْقًا violently

نَزَعَ غَرَفَ


By those who plunge in to remove (souls).

وَالنَّاشِطَاتِ And those who draw out

نشاط نشاط


By those who are energetic and vigorous.

وَالسَّابِحَاتِ And those who glide

By those who are floating swimming.

فَالسَّابِقَاتِ And those who race each other

And those who act as a priority (race).

فَالْمُدَبِّرَاتِ And those who arrange

Then they plan to carry commands (of Allah).

يَوْمَ (The) Day

The Day of the Shock of the first Blast of the Trumpet for the resurrection.

And the following of what comes next.

قُلُوبٌ Hearts

Quloobun

يَوْمَئِذٍ that Day

وَاجِفَةٌ will palpitate

قلب جُفَا


On the Day, the hearts will be throbbing.

79:9


أَبْصَارُهَا Their eyes

خَاشِعَةٌ humbled

بصُر خَشَعَ


Their eyes will be submissive.

79:10


يَقُولُونَ They say

Yaqooloona

أَءِنَّا Will we?

لَمَرْدُودُونَ indeed be returned

الْحَافِرَةِ the former state

قَالَ رَدَّ فِي حَفَرَ


They say, “Are we indeed, returning from the excavation (of graves)?

79:11


أَئِذَا What! When?

كُنَّا we are

عِظَامًا bones

نَّخِرَةً decayed

كَانَ عَظُمَ نَخَرَ


When our bones have been decayed?”

79:12


قَالُواْ They say

Qaloo
ق و ل
تِلْكَ This

tilka

إِذًا then

ithan

كَرَّةٌ (would be) a return

karratun
ك ر ر
خَاسِرَةٌ losing

khasiratun

قَالَ كُرة خَسِرَ


They say, “Then this is the losing round.” (The whole life round is lost).

79:13


فَإِنَّمَا Then only

Fainnama

هِىَ it

hiya

زَجْرَةٌ (will be) a shout

وَاحِدَةٌ single

wahidatun

زَجَرَ أحد


Then (but) it will be only a single scold.

79:14


فَإِذَا And behold!

Faitha

هُم They

hum

بِالسَّاهِرَةِ (will be) awakened

سَهِرَ


They will be awakened as soon as it is time for them to wake up (after passing the night).

79:15


هَلْ Has?

Hal

أتَاكَ (there) come to you

مُوسَىٰٓ (of) Musa

أتى حَدَثَ


Has news of Musa come to you?

79:16


إِذْ When

نَادَاهُ called him

بِالْوَادِ in the valley

الْمُقَدَّسِ the sacred

طُوًى (of) Tuwa

ندا رَبَّ وَدَى قَدُسَ طَوَى


When his Rabb called him to the holy valley of Tuwa. (Rolled up).

79:17


اذْهَبْ Go

Ithhab
ذ ه ب
إِلَىٰ to

ila

فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun

firAAawna

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed he

innahu

طَغَىٰ (has) transgressed

tagha
ط غ ي
١٧

ذهب طَغَا


“Go to Firoun; he has exceeded the bounds.” (crossed the limits, became oppressive, violent, cruel, oppressor).

79:18


فَقُلْ And say

Faqul
ق و ل
هَل Would?

hal

لَّكَ [for] you

laka

إِلَىٰٓ [to]

ila

أَن [that]

an

تَزَكَّى purify yourself

tazakka

قَالَ زَكَا


Then say, “Do you care that you will become righteous?

79:19


وَأَهْدِيَكَ And I will guide you

Waahdiyaka
ه د ي
إِلَىٰ to

ila

رَبِّكَ your Lord

rabbika
ر ب ب
فَتَخْشَىٰ so you would fear

fatakhsha
خ ش ي
١٩

هَدَى رَبَّ خَشَيَ


And I will guide you towards your Rabb, and you to be fearful.”

79:20


فَأَرَاهُ Then he showed him

الْاٰيَةَ the sign

أ ي ي
الْكُبْرَىٰ the great

رَأَى آ ىي -آية كَبَرَ


Then he (Musa) showed him (Firon) the great signs.

79:21


فَكَذَّبَ But he denied

Fakaththaba
ك ذ ب
وَعَصَىٰ and disobeyed

كَذَبَ عَصَى


But he (Firon) denied and disobeyed.

79:22


ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

أَدْبَرَ he turned his back

يَسْعَىٰ striving

دبر سعى


Then he (Firon) turned away immediately (quickly).

79:23


فَحَشَرَ And he gathered

فَنَادَىٰ and called out

حَشَرَ ندا


And he gathered (people) and proclaimed (announced).

79:24


فَقَالَ Then he said

Faqala
ق و ل
أَنَا I am

ana

رَبُّكُمُ your Lord

rabbukumu
ر ب ب
الْأَعْلَىٰ the Most High

alaAAla
ع ل و
٢٤

قَالَ رَبَّ عَلَا


He (Firon) said, “I am your Rabb, the high.”

79:25


فَأَخَذَهُ So seized him

اللهُ Allah

Allahu
أ ل ه
نَكَالَ (with) an exemplary punishment

الْاٰخِرَةِ (for) the last

وَالْأُولَىٰٓ and the first

٢٥

أَخَذَ إِلَٰه نَكَلَ أخر اول


Allah exemplified him to warn of severe punishment in the Hereafter and earlier. (the present world).

79:26


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

فِى in

fee

ذَٰلِكَ that

thalika

لَعِبْرَةً surely (is) a lesson

laAAibratan

لِّمَن for whoever

liman

يَخْشَىٰٓ fears

yakhsha
خ ش ي
٢٦

فِي عَبَرَ خَشَيَ


In this, there is a warning for those who are fearful.

79:27


ءَأَنتُمْ Are you?

Aantum

أَشَدُّ a more difficult

ashaddu

خَلْقًا creation

أَمِ or

ami

السَّمَآءُ the heaven

بَنَاهَا He constructed it

banaha
ب ن ي
٢٧

شَدَّ خَلَقَ سَمِي بَنَى


Are you more difficult to create or the universe? That He Constructed.

79:28


رَفَعَ He raised

سَمْكَهَا its ceiling

فَسَوَّاهَا and proportioned it

fasawwaha
س و ي
٢٨

رَفَعَ سَمْك سواءٌ


He raised the sky, and then He straightened it (made it harmonious and proportionate).

79:29


وَأَغْطَشَ And He darkened

Waaghtasha

لَيْلَهَا its night

وَأَخْرَجَ and brought out

waakhraja

ضُحَاهَا its brightness

ض ح و
٢٩

غَطَشَ لَيْل خرج ضَحَا


He made its night dark and brought out the morning (lighting).

79:30


وَالْأَرْضَ And the earth

Waalarda

بَعْدَ after

baAAda
ب ع د
ذَٰلِكَ that

thalika

دَحَاهَآ He spread it

أَ رَضْ بعُد NF


And He spread out the Earth after that.

79:31


أَخْرَجَ He brought forth

مِنْهَا from it

مَآءَهَا its water

وَمَرْعَاهَا and its pasture

wamarAAaha

خرج مَا ءَ رَعَى


And in it, He brought out its water and its grazing land.

79:32


وَالْجِبَالَ And the mountains

Waaljibala
ج ب ل
أَرْسَاهَا He made them firm

جبل رَسَا


And raised the mountains with its firm anchoring.

79:33


مَتَاعًا (As) a provision

لَّكُمْ for you

lakum

وَلِأَنْعَامِكُمْ and for your cattle

walianAAamikum
ن ع م
٣٣

مَتَعَ نَعَمَ


Enjoyment (and delight) for you and your cattle.

79:34


فَإِذَا But when

Faitha

جَآءَتِ comes

الطَّآمَّةُ the Overwhelming Calamity

الْكُبْرَىٰ the great

جَاءَ NF كَبَرَ


Then (but) when the Great Disaster will come.

79:35


يَوْمَ (The) Day

يَتَذَكَّرُ will remember

الْإِنسَانُ man

مَا what

سَعَىٰ he strove (for)

saAAa
س ع ي
٣٥

يوْم ذَكّرَ أَنِسَ سعى


On the Day, the man will remember what he has attempted (pursued, endeavored).

79:36


وَبُرِّزَتِ And will be made manifest

الْجَحِيمُ the Hellfire

لِمَن to (him) who

يَرَىٰ sees

٣٦

بَرَزَ جحم رَأَى


And hell will be visible to anyone who sees it.

79:37


فَأَمَّا Then as for

Faamma

مَن (him) who

man

طَغَىٰ transgressed

٣٧

طَغَا


As for him who has exceeded boundaries.

79:38


وَآثَرَ And preferred

Waathara
أ ث ر
الْحَيَاةَ the life

ح ي ى
الدُّنْيَا (of) the world

alddunya

٣٨

أثر حي دَنَا


And preferred the life of this world.

79:39


فَإِنَّ Then indeed

Fainna

الْجَحِيمَ the Hellfire

الْمَأْوَىٰ (is) the refuge

جحم أوى


Indeed, Hell is the shelter and abode.

79:40


وَأَمَّا But as for

Waama

مَنْ (him) who

man

خَافَ feared

مَقَامَ standing

رَبِّهِۦ (before) his Lord

rabbihi

وَنَهَى and restrained

wanaha
ن ه ي
النَّفْسَ his soul

ن ف س
عَنِ from

الْهَوَىٰ the vain desires

alhawa
ه و ي
٤٠

خَفَيَ قَامَ رَبَّ نها نفُس هوى


But for whoever feared, to stand before his Rabb and held back his inclinations of desires (temptations).

79:41


فَإِنَّ Then indeed

Fainna

الْجَنَّةَ Paradise

الْمَأْوَىٰ the refuge

جنّ أوى


Then, the Gardens of Paradise will be his shelter and abode.

79:42


يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ They ask you

Yasaloonaka

عَنِ about

السَّاعَةِ the Hour (Qeyama)

أَيَّانَ when

ayyana

مُرْسَاهَا (is) its arrival

mursaha
ر س و
٤٢

سأل سَاعته رَسَا


They ask you about the Hour, “When will it be anchored?”

79:43


فِيمَ In what?

Feema

أَنتَ (are) you

مِن [of]

ذِكْرَاهَآ (to) mention it

ذَكّرَ


In this, you cannot report it (you do not know when the Final Judgment Day will arrive).

إِلَىٰ To

Ila

رَبِّكَ your Lord

مُنتَهَاهَآ (is) its finality

Towards your Rabb is the end of it (time).

إِنَّمَآ Only

Innama

أَنتَ you

مُنذِرُ (are) a warner

مَن (for him) who

يَخْشَاهَا fears it

نَذَرَ خَشَيَ


Indeed, you are only a warner for those who fear it.

كَأَنَّهُمْ As though they

يَرَوْنَهَا they see it

إِلَّا except

ضُحَاهَا a morning thereof

يوْم رَأَى لبِث عَشَا ضَحَا


On the Day when they will see it, as though they had a stopover (paused, stayed in the world) for a night or a day of it. (their life in the world was a pause of a night or a day).
