71:1


إِنَّآ Indeed We

أَرْسَلْنَا [We] sent

رَسِلَ قَامَ نَذَرَ قَامَ قَبِلَ أتى عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


Indeed, We sent Noah to his nation: “Warn your nation before a painful punishment will come to them.”

قَالَ He said

Qala

يَاقَوْمِ O my people!

إِنِّى Indeed I am

نَذِيرٌ a warner

قَالَ قَامَ نَذَرَ بَا نَ


(Then he warned his nation) He said, “O my nation, I am (here) for you as a clear Warner.

أَنِ That

اعْبُدُواْ Worship

وَاتَّقُوهُ and fear Him

عَبَدَ إِلَٰه تقى طَاعَ


Worship Allah and fear Him and follow me.

يَغْفِرْ He will forgive

غفر ذَنْب أخر أجل سَمِي أجل إِله جَاءَ أخر كَانَ علِم


(And) He will forgive you of your sins and delay you up to an appointed term (to allow you to repent). Indeed, when the appointed time from Allah comes, there is no delay if you only knew.”

قَالَ رَبَّ دَعَا قَامَ لَيْل نهر


He said, “O my Rabb, I invited (called to) my nation nights and days.

71:6


فَلَمْ But not

Falam

يَزِدْهُمْ increased them

دُعَآئِىٓ my invitation

إِلَّا except

فِرَارًا (in) flight

زَادَ دَعَا فَرَّ


But my call only increased their running away.

وَإِنِّى And indeed I

كُلَّمَا every time

لِتَغْفِرَ that You may forgive

اٰذَانِهِمْ their ears

وَاسْتَغْشَوْا and covered themselves

ثِيَابَهُمْ (with) their garments

وَأَصَرُّوا and persisted

waasarroo
ص ر ر
وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا and were arrogant

waistakbaroo

اسْتِكْبَارًا (with) pride

istikbaran
ك ب ر
٧

كُلّ دَعَا غفر جعل صاب أَذن غَشَا ثَابَ صُرَّة كَبَرَ كَبَرَ


And indeed, every time I invited them (to You) for You to forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered (hid) themselves in their clothes, and were persistent and arrogant in haughtiness.

71:8


ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

إِنِّى indeed I

دَعَوْتُهُمْ I invited them

Then I invited them openly (in public).

ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

إِنِّىٓ indeed I

أَعْلَنتُ I announced

وَأَسْرَرْتُ and I confided

لَهُمْ to them

إِسْرَارًا secretly

عَلَنَ سَرَّ أسر


Then I publicly announced it to them and confided them in secret.

71:10


فَقُلْتُ Then I said

Faqultu

اسْتَغْفِرُواْ Ask forgiveness

رَبَّكُمْ (from) your Lord

إِنَّهُۥ Indeed He

غَفَّارًا Oft-Forgiving

قَالَ غفر رَبَّ كَانَ غفر


I said, "Ask for forgiveness from your Rabb; He is the Most Forgiving.

71:11


يُرْسِلِ He will send down

He will send down (the rain) from the sky in rounds (abundance).

وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ And provide you

مدّ مَال بَا نَ جعل جنّ جعل نهر


And will help (provide) you with wealth, children, gardens, and rivers.

71:13


مَّا What?

What is with you that you do not have hope in the greatness of Allah?

وَقَدْ And indeed

خَلَقَكُمْ He created you

And indeed, He created you in stages. أَلَمْ Do not?

رَأَى كَيدَ خَلَقَ إِلَٰه سَبْع سما طَبَقَ


Do you not see how Allah created seven skies in layers?

71:16


وَجَعَلَ And made

الْقَمَرَ the moon

جعل قَمَرَ فِي نَار جعل شَمَسَ سَرْج


And He made the moon a light and made the sun a lamp.

71:17


وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

WaAllahu
أ ل ه
أَنبَتَكُم has caused you to grow

الْأَرْضِ the earth

نَبَاتًا (as) a growth

١٧

إِلَٰه نَبَتَ أَ رَضْ نَبَتَ


Allah has grown plants (vegetables, herbs, seeds, grass, etc.,) for you from the earth.

71:18


ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

يُعِيدُكُمْ He will return you

فِيهَا into it

وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ and bring you forth

إِخْرَاجًا (a new) bringing forth

ikhrajan

عاد خرج خرج


Then He will return you into it and bring you out to extract (again).

71:19


وَٱللّٰهُ And Allah

WaAllahu

جَعَلَ made

jaAAala

لَكُمُ for you

الْأَرْضَ the earth

بِسَاطًا an expanse

ب س ط
١٩

إِلَٰه جعل أَ رَضْ بسط


And Allah expanded the earth (spacious, stretched out) for you.

71:20


لِّتَسْلُكُوا That you may go along

For you to enter upon the passages (paths, ways) in it, (including) the mountain passes.

قَالَ رَبَّ عَصَى تبِع زَادَ مَال وَلَدَ خَسِرَ


Noah said, “O my Rabb, indeed, they have disobeyed me, and they have followed him, whose wealth and children increased eternal punishment (perdition, meaning a state of eternal punishment).”

71:22


وَمَكَرُوا And they have planned

And they deceived (made plots) with great deception (cunningness).

قَالَ وَزَرَ إِله وَزَرَ ودّ سَاعته NF


And they said, “Do not leave your gods and do not leave waddan, nor suan, nor ughousa, nor yaoqa, and nasran.

71:24


وَقَدْ And indeed

أَضَلُّوا they have led astray

And indeed, they misguided many, so the unjust increased (progressed) only falsehood.”

71:25


مِّمَّآ Because of

خَطِيٓئَاتِهِمْ their sins

خَطِيءَ غرِق دَخَلَ نَار وَجَدَ دُون إِله نَصَرَ


Because of their mistakes, they were drowned and will be entered into the Fire. They will not find help for them other than Allah.

وَقَالَ And said

And Noah said, “My Rabb, do not leave any home (place) for the unjust on earth.

إِنَّكَ Indeed You

وَزَرَ ضلّ عَبَدَ وَلَدَ فجر كَفَرَ


If You leave them, they will mislead your worshippers and not give birth except the immoral and unjust.

تَبَارًا (in) destruction

رَبَّ غفر وَلَدَ دَخَلَ بَا تَ أمُن أمُن أمُن زَادَ ظَلَمَ تَبَرَ


My Rabb! Forgive me and my parents, and whoever enters my home believing, and for the believing men and women; and the unjust do not increase except destruction.”
