17:1


سُبْحَٰنَ Exalted

الَّذِىٓ (is) the One Who

سبح سَرَى عَبَدَ لَيْل سَجَدَ حَرُمَ سَجَدَ قَصَا بَرَكَ حَالَ رَأَى آ ىي -آية سَمَعَ بصُر


Praise be to Him Who took His worshipper to travel by night from the Sacred Mosque (Mecca) to Aqsa (far away, Jerusalem) Mosque, whose precincts (surroundings) We have blessed, for Us to show him Our signs; Indeed, He is the All Listener and All-Seer.

17:2


وَآتَيْنَا And We gave

أتى كَتَبَ جعل هَدَى اِبْن أَخَذَ دُون وَكَلَ


And We gave Musa the Book and made that guidance for the Children of Israel: Do not take hold of anyone besides Me as a supporter in charge.

17:3


ذُرِّيَّةَ Offsprings

Descendants from those We carried with Noah (on the ship, Ark), he was a thankful worshipper.

وَقَضَيْنَآ And We decreed

قَضَى اِبْن فِي كَتَبَ فَسَدَ فِي أَ رَضْ مرّ عَلَنَ عَلَا كَبَرَ


And We decreed to children of Israel in the Book: You will spread immorality (corruption, sow discord) in the earth twice and elevate to a higher level (reach a remarkable ascent in the level of crime).

17:5


فَإِذَا So when

وَكَانَ and (it) was

جَاءَ وَعَدَ اول بعث عَبَدَ اول بَأْ س- بَؤُ سَ شَدَّ جَاسَ خَلَّ دَارَ كَانَ وَعَدَ فَعَلَ


When the first of two promises came true, We raised on you, Our worshippers, with strong (steadfast) courage, and they entered through the gaps (openings) in the homes to gain information. And that was a promise to be done.

17:6


ثُمَّ Then

Thumma

رَدَدْنَا We gave back

رَدَّ كُرة مدّ مَال بَا نَ جعل كَثَرَ نَفَرَ


Then We returned you with your turn (round) on them, assisted you with wealth and children, and rewarded you with a growing group (increasing numbers).

حَسَنَ حَسَنَ نفُس سأل جَاءَ وَعَدَ أخر سَا ءَ وَجَهَ دَخَلَ سَجَدَ دَخَلَ اول مرّ تَبَرَ عَلَا تَبَرَ


If you do well (good deeds), you will do well (good deeds) for yourselves; and if you do poorly (evil), you do it against yourselves. Then when the other promise came, they grieved your faces and entered the Masjid like they entered the first time and demolished what was raised (built).

عَسَىٰ (It) may be

عَسَى رَبَّ رَحِمَ عَدَّ عدا جعل كَفَرَ حَصَرَ


Perhaps your Rabb will have mercy on you. And then (but) if you repeat, We will revert. We have made Hell a confined place for the ungrateful.

17:9


إِنَّ Indeed

قَرَأَ هَدَى قَامَ بشِر أمُن عَمِلَ صَلَحَ أَجَرَ كَبَرَ


This Quran guides those who are steadfast, and brings good news to the believers who do good, that they will have a great reward.

17:10


وَأَنَّ And that

أَعْتَدْنَا We have prepared

أمُن أخر عَتُدَ عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


And for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have prepared for them a painful punishment.

وَيَدْعُ And prays

دَعَا أَنِسَ شَرَّ دَعَا خَيرَ كَانَ أَنِسَ عَجِلَ


And humankind calls for wickedness (thinking that); his call is for good. Humankind is haste (in judgments).

وَجَعَلْنَا And We have made

١٢

جعل لَيْل نهر آ ىي -آية محا آ ىي -آية لَيْل جعل آ ىي -آية نهر بصُر بغى فَضَلَ رَبَّ علِم عَدَّ سَنَّ حَسَبَ كُلّ شِاءَ فَصَلَ فَصَلَ


And We have made the night and the day two signs. So, We erase the sign of the night and make the sign of the day a realization for you to seek the favors of your Rabb and for you to know the counting and calculations of the years. And We have detailed everything, everything separately. (Note. Human eyes are suited for seeing in the daylight. At the surface of the Sun, the temperature is about 5700 Kelvin, corresponding to the wavelength of 500 nm; in the eyes, the photopigment rhodopsin has peak sensitivity to the blue-green light wavelength of about 500 nanometers. So eyes are designed to see the same wavelength as sunlight, based on sun temperatures).

وَكُلَّ And (for) every

كُلّ أَنِسَ لَزِمَ طَارَ فِي عَنِقَ خرج يوْم قَامَ كَتَبَ لقِي نشر


Every human has an omen (fact, book of deeds) accompanying him around the neck. The book (of deeds) will be brought out for him on the Day of Standing, and he will read it openly.

“Read your book; you are sufficient to read your own account today.”

هَدَى هَدَى نفُس ضلّ ضلّ وَزَرَ وَزَرَ وَزَرَ أخر كَانَ عَذُبَ بعث رَسِلَ


Whoever is guided is guided for himself (his benefit), and whoever is misguided is misguided for himself. You will not carry the weight (sins) of the others, nor do We punish until We raise a messenger (to give warning).

وَإِذَآ And when

فَدَمَّرْنَاهَا and We destroy it

تَدْمِيرًا (with) destruction

رَادَ هَلَكَ قَرَى أمر تَرِفَ فًسًق حَقَّ قَالَ دَمَرَ دَمَرَ


And when We desire to destroy a city, We order the well-to-do in them; they make mischief (spread corruption) in it, so the word (punishment) is justified, and then We annihilate them.

وَكَمْ And how many?

هَلَكَ قرن بعُد كفى رَبَّ ذَنْب عَبَدَ خَبَرَ بصُر


And how many among the communities have We destroyed after Noah? Your Rabb is sufficient to see the sins of His slaves.

كَانَ رَادَ عَجِلَ عَجِلَ شِاءَ رَادَ جعل وَصَلَ ذَمَّ دَحَرَ


Whoever desires to expedite (rewards in this world), We expedite what We decide to give him, with what We want. Then We make Hell for him, where he will burn, be condemned, and defeated.

وَمَنْ And whoever

رَادَ أخر سعى سعى أمُن كَانَ سعى شَكَرَ


And whoever desires the Hereafter and struggles with his efforts while he is a believer, their attempts (endeavors, steps) are acknowledged.

To all, We give support, these and those (Believers and nonbelievers both are provided with known and unknown benefits), your Rabb grants gifts. Your Rabb's gifts are not enclosed (in a fence, restricted, limited).Note: Arabic - Easy Explanation: To each group of those who work for this limited, finite, vanishing fleeting world and those who work for the ever-lasting Hereafter, We increase our sustenance and provide for the believers and the unbelievers in this world. For sustenance is the gift of your Rabb, a bounty from Him, and the gift of your Rabb is not forbidden to anyone, whether he is a believer or an unbeliever.

نَظَرَ كَيدَ فَضَلَ بَعَضَ بَعَضَ أخر كَبَرَ دَرَجَ كَبَرَ فَضَلَ


See how We have elevated some over others (in this world), yet the Hereafter will have higher grades in excellence.

Do not make other gods with Allah; then you will remain blameworthy, despicable, and cutoff.

وَقَضَىٰ And has decreed

قَضَى رَبَّ عَبَدَ وَلَدَ حَسَنَ بلغ عَنَدَ كَبَرَ أحد قَالَ أفَ نهر قَالَ قَالَ كَرُمَ


Your Rabb has decreed that you worship only Him and be kind to your parents. When they reach old age with you, one or both of them, then do not say a word of disrespect, repulse, or reprimand them, but say decent words to them.

وَاخْفِضْ And lower

خَفَضَ جَنَحَ ذَلَّ رَحِمَ قَالَ رَبَّ رَحِمَ رَبَا صَغُرَ


And make it comfortable for them and incline to be gentle, with mercy, and say, “O my Rabb, have mercy on them, like they had raised me when I was small (infant, young).”

17:25


رَّبُّكُمْ Your Lord

لِلْأَوَّابِينَ to those who often turn (to Him)

غَفُورًا Most Forgiving

رَبَّ علِم فِي نفُس كَانَ صَلَحَ كَانَ أ و ب غفر


Your Rabb knows best with what is in you. If you are righteous, He is Most Forgiving to those who return to Him.

وَآتِ And give (to)

أتى قرُب حَقَّ مسكن اِبْن سَبَلَ بذر بذر


And give the near relative his rights, the needy, and the travelers, and do not be wasteful squandering.

17:27


إِنَّ Indeed

الْمُبَذِّرِينَ the spendthrifts

لِرَبِّهِۦ to his Lord

كَفُورًا ungrateful

بذر كَانَ أ خو شَيَطن كَانَ شَيَطن رَبَّ كَفَرَ


Those who waste are brothers of the shaitan, and shaitan has been ungrateful for his Rabb.

وَإِمَّا And if

عَرُضَ بغى رَحِمَ رَبَّ رجأ قَالَ قَالَ يَسَرَ


And if you (need to) turn away from them seeking (hoping) the mercy of your Rabb that you desire, and then (at least) say to them easy words (be kind and respectful if you cannot afford to give charity while waiting to receive means from Allah to give charity).

جعل يدي غَلَّ عَنِقَ بسط كُلّ بسط قَعَدَ لَامَ حَسَرَ


And do not make your hands chained to your neck, nor spread all that extensive, then you will sit as blamed, regretting (end up liable and regretful).

رَبَّ بسط رَزَقَ شِاءَ قدر كَانَ عَبَدَ خَبَرَ بصُر


Indeed, your Rabb spreads the provisions of life to whomever He desires, and He (provides) measures. Certainly, He is Fully Informed, All-Seeing of His slaves.

قَتَلَ وَلَدَ خَشَيَ رَزَقَ قَتَلَ كَانَ خَطِيءَ كَبَرَ


And do not kill your children due to fear of poverty. We provide provisions of life to them and you; indeed, killing them is a great offense.

And do not get close to the fornication. That is an obscenity and evil path.

قَتَلَ نفُس حَرُمَ إِلَٰه حَقَّ قَتَلَ ظَلَمَ جعل وَلِيَ سُلَط سَرَف قَتَلَ كَانَ نَصَرَ


And do not kill the soul that is prohibited except with justification (by Justice of Lawful Authority). And whoever gets killed due to injustice, then We have made his in-charge an authority. But do not exceed the boundaries of killing, for he is helped.

قرُب مَال يتم حَسَنَ بلغ شَدَّ وَفَى عَهِدَ عَهِدَ كَانَ سأل


And do not get close to (benefit yourself from) the property (possessions) of orphans except with better (good intentions) until they reach adulthood. You shall fulfill the promise, indeed, (because) the promise will be questioned (requires responsibility).

وَأَوْفُوا And give full

وَفَى كال كال وزن قسط قَامَ خَيرَ حَسَنَ اول


And redeem the scale when you measure and weigh with a straight balance. That is a good thing and a better explanation (the basis of business rules).

And do not follow (track) that you do not have any (use of) knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the seeing, and the hearts, all of those, will be questioned.

مَشَى فِي أَ رَضْ مرح خَرَقَ أَ رَضْ بلغ جبل طَالَ


And do not walk in the earth rejoicing. Indeed, you will never pierce through the ground, nor will you attain as tall mountains.

All of these (acts) are disliked (hateful) by your Rabb.

وَحَى رَبَّ حَكَمَ جعل إِله إِله أخر لقِي فِي لَامَ دَحَرَ


These are among what your Rabb has revealed to you as wisdom. And do not make others like a god with Allah, or you will be thrown into Hell, blamed, and driven away.

أَفَأَصْفَاكُمْ Then has chosen (for) you?

صَفَا رَبَّ اِبْن أَخَذَ ملك أَنُثَ قَالَ قَالَ عَظُمَ


Has your Rabb selected sons for you while choosing daughters (for Himself) among the angels? You indeed say a terrible thing.

وَلَقَدْ And verily

Walaqad

صَرَّفْنَا We have explained

صَرَفَ فِي قَرَأَ ذَكّرَ زَادَ نَفَرَ


And indeed, We have caused (turned to have your attention) in this the Quran, for you to remember, but it only increases an aversion for them (non-believers).

قَالَ كَانَ إِله قَالَ بغى ذُو عَرَشَ سَبَلَ


Say, “If there had been gods with Him like they say, they would have sought a path to reach the Throne (of Allah).”

سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ Glorified is He

All praise belongs to Him. He is exalted high above what they say.

سبح سما سَبْع أَ رَضْ فِي شِاءَ سبح حَمِدَ فَقِهَ سبح كَانَ حَلَمَ غفر


Praising Him are the seven skies, the earth, and whatever (whoever) is in them. Everything glorifies Him with praise, but you do not comprehend their praises. Indeed, He is Gentle and Most Forgiving.

قَرَأَ قَرَأَ جعل بَا نَ بَا نَ أمُن أخر حَجَبَ سَتَرَ


When you recite the Quran, We make a hidden screen between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter.

جعل قلب كنّ فَقِهَ أَذن وَقَرَ ذَكّرَ رَبَّ فِي قَرَأَ أحد وَلِيَ دبر نَفَرَ


And We made a hidden cover on their hearts that (prevent) them from comprehending and hard hearing in their ears. And when you mention your Rabb Only One in the Quran, they turn their backs in aversion.

علِم سَمَعَ سَمَعَ نَجَا قَالَ ظَلَمَ تبِع رَجِلَ سَحَرَ


We know best (all) about what they listen to when they listen to you, as they secretly have a confidential talk, when the cruel say, “Will you follow a man possessed, (controlled by some powerful emotion, spirit, etc..).”

Look how they make an example for you. So, they have lost their way, and they are not capable of finding a path.

And they say, “When we have become bones and corpse remains, are we going to be raised as a new creation?”

خَلَقَ كَبَرَ فِي صدر قَالَ عاد قَالَ فَطَرَ اول مرّ NF رَأَسَ قَالَ قَالَ عَسَى كَانَ قرُب


Or a creation, from what is bigger, in your hearts.” Then they will say, “Who will return us?” Say, “The One who has given you the natural disposition the first time.” Then they will shake their heads at you and say, “When will it be?” Say, “Perhaps it will happen soon.”

17:52


يَوْمَ (On) the Day

On the Day when He will summon you, you will respond with His praise, and you will speculate that you stayed (in this world) for a short (time).

قَالَ عَبَدَ قَالَ حَسَنَ شَيَطن زَاغَ بَا نَ شَيَطن كَانَ أَنِسَ عدا بَا نَ


Tell My slaves to speak what are best (words). Indeed, shaitan puts discord among them. Certainly, shaitan is a clearly manifested enemy of humankind.

رَبَّ علِم شِاءَ رَحِمَ شِاءَ عَذُبَ رَسِلَ وَكَلَ


Your Rabb knows the best about you. If He desires, He will have mercy on you; if He wishes, He will punish you. And We did not send you on them as an in-charge (defense counselor).

And your Rabb knows best who is in the universe and the earth. And indeed, We have given some prophets superiority over others, and We gave David the Psalms.

"Say, 'Call upon those whom you consider (as your supporters) besides Him.'" They are not capable of removing harm from you, nor can they (even) alter it.

Those who they call on (to help) are themselves seeking a path to their Rabb to get closer to Him, and they desire His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Rabb should be feared.

There is no town, but We will destroy them before the Day of Standing, or they will be punished severely. That is recorded (written) in the book.

مَنَعَ رَسِلَ آ ىي -آية كَذَبَ ا و ل أتى نَاقَة بصُر ظَلَمَ رَسِلَ آ ىي -آية خَفَيَ


And nothing prevented Us from sending the signs, except that the earlier generations denied these (similar signs). We gave Samoud the she-camel as recognition, but they did injustice to it, and We did not send the signs except as fear.

قَالَ رَبَّ حَاطَ أَنِسَ جعل رَأَى رَأَى فَتَنَ أَنِسَ شَجَرَ لَعَنَ فِي قَرَأَ خَافَ زَادَ طَغَا كَبَرَ


And when We said to you that, indeed, your Rabb had surrounded humankind. And We did not make the vision that We showed you (on the night of ascension) except as a test for the people and the cursed tree (zakhoum tree in hell) in the Quran. We make (it as) fear to them, but it only increases in them a great rage.

And when We told the angels, “Prostrate for Adam,” they prostrated except Iblis. He said, “Shall I bow to whom you have created from mud?”

He (Iblis) said, “Do you see this that you have given more honor over me (to bow down)? If you delay (punishment) for me up to the Day of Standing, I will scrape off his progeny, except a few.”

He (Allah) said, “Begone! (Go Ahead) Whoever follows you among them, Hell will be their reward, a reward in abundance.”

وَاسْتَفْزِزْ And incite

الشَّيْطَانُ the Shaitaan

غُرُورًا delusion

فَزَّ طَاعَ صَاتَ جلب خال رَجِلَ شَرِكَ فِي مَال وَلَدَ عدا وَعَدَ شَيَطن غَرَّ


“And incite, whomever you have the ability over them with your voice, and attract them with your cavalry (horse rider) and infantry (foot soldiers) and become a partner with them in their wealth and their children and make promises to them.” And (but) what Shaitan promises them is only a deception (makes false promises).

“As for My slaves, you do not have any control over them.” Your Rabb is a Sufficient Trustee.

Your Rabb is the One who drives the ships for you in the ocean so that you seek His bounty. He is Ever Merciful to you.

مسّ ضَرَّ فِي بَحَرَ ضلّ دَعَا نَجَا بَرَّ عَرُضَ كَانَ أَنِسَ كَفَرَ


When harm touches you in the ocean, all those you used to call besides (other than) Him are lost. However, when He saves you on land, You turn away, and the humans have been ungrateful.

Have you become peaceful (and secure) that He will not sink you in the side of the land (as in sinkholes), or He will send gravel on you, and then you will not find a dependent (trustee)?

آمن عاد فِي تَارَةً أخر رَسِلَ NF رَاحَ غرِق كَفَرَ وَجَدَ بَا عَ


Or have you become peaceful and secure that He will not return you another time, and He will send storming winds to you and drown you because of what you have been ungrateful about? Then you will not find for you against Us, a follower. (We will pursue any wrongdoing on your part since no one else will be there to seek help against Us).

كَرُمَ اِبْن حَمَلَ فِي بَرَّ بَحَرَ رَزَقَ طَابَ فَضَلَ كَثَرَ خَلَقَ فَضَلَ


Indeed, We have been generous to the Children of Adam and carried (spread) them in the land and sea. And We provided them with good sustenance (livelihood) from the pure and clean (food), and We preferred them over many among what We have created as a superior (creation).

يوْم دَعَا كُلّ أَنِسَ أمّ أتى كَتَبَ يَمَنَ قَرَأَ كَتَبَ ظَلَمَ


On the Day when We will summon all humankind with their leaders. So, whoever is given his book (a record) in his right hand will read their record, and they will not be unjustly treated one bit.

And (but) whoever has been blind (ignorant) in this (life), then he will be blind in the Hereafter, and he led a misguided path (in this world).

And they were about to entice you from (other than) what We have inspired you so that you would fabricate (say) about us other than this. Then, they would have surely taken (accepted) you as their friend.

وَلَوْلَآ And if not

Then We would have made you taste double (punishment) in life and double (punishment) in death; then, you will have never found a helper for you against Us.

They almost caused you to leave the land by inciting you. In that case, they would not have lived after you, except for a little while.

Establish prayers from (time of) descending of the sun until the night is spread, and recitation of the Quran at the day's breaking. Indeed, the recitation of the Quran at the breaking of the day is witnessed.

And spend (keep vigil in some part of) the night in prayer, as supererogatory prayers for you, in hopes that your Rabb will raise you to a commendable (admirable, praiseworthy, laudable, estimable, meritorious, creditable, exemplary, exceptional, noteworthy, notable, honorable, worthy, deserving, respectable, sterling, fine, excellent; More commendable) place.

And say, “O my Rabb, enter me in a truthful entrance (correct, righteous) and bring me out into a proper exit (being right honest), and grant me from You a powerful help (to stay on an actual, noble path).

We have put in the Koran what are healing and mercy for the believers, but nothing increases for the unjust except loss.

When We grant livelihood to humankind, he turns away and stays away from its side (to recognize that Allah gives all). And (but) when harm touches him, he becomes despaired (hopeless).

Say, “If you get humankind and the jinn together on that (task) to bring an example of this Quran, they will never be able to deliver an example like it, even if they were helpers to each other.

And indeed, We have dedicated every kind of example for the man in this Quran; then (but) many of humankind rejected it and were only ungrateful.

Or you have a garden of date palms and grapes, and you let rivers flow in the voids of empty spaces there gushing forth.

وَالْمَلَآئِكَةِ and the Angels

Or you drop a piece of the sky on us like you are claiming or bring Allah and the angels up in front.

كَانَ بَا تَ زَخْرَفَ رَقَيَ فِي سَمَا أمُن رَقَيَ نَزَلَ كَتَبَ قَرَأَ قَالَ سبح رَبَّ كَانَ بشر رَسِلَ


Or you possess a decorated house. Or you climb into the sky. And even then, we will never believe in your ascension until you bring down on us a book that we can read.” Say, “Praise is to my Rabb. What am I, only a human being, a messenger?”

And nothing prevented humankind from believing when the guidance came to them, except that they said, “Did Allah raise a man as a messenger?”

قَالَ كَانَ فِي أَ رَضْ ملك مَشَى طَأْمَنَ نَزَلَ سَمَا ملك رَسِلَ


Say, “If angels were walking in the earth satisfactorily, then We would have sent down to them from the sky an angel (as a) messenger.”

قَالَ كفى إِلَٰه شَهِدَ بَا نَ بَا نَ كَانَ عَبَدَ خَبَرَ بصُر


Say, “Allah is A Sufficient witness between you and me; He is Fully Informed and Knows All about His slaves.”

17:97


وَمَن And whoever

وُجُوهِهِمْ their faces

وَبُكْمًا and dumb

وَصُمًّا and deaf

مَّأْوَاهُمْ Their abode

mawahum
أ و ي
جَهَنَّمُ (is) Hell

jahannamu

كُلَّمَا every time

kullama
ك ل ل
خَبَتْ it subsides

khabat
خ ب و
زِدْنَاهُمْ We (will) increase (for) them

zidnahum
ز ي د
سَعِيرًا the blazing fire

saAAeeran
س ع ر
٩٧

هَدَى إِلَٰه هَدَى ضلّ وَجَدَ وَلِيَ دُون حَشَرَ يوْم قَامَ وَجَهَ عَمِيَ بَكِمَ صَمَّ أوى كُلّ خَبَأَ زَادَ سَعَرَ


And whoever Allah guides is the guided one. And whoever He leaves misguided, you will not find any supporter for him other than Him. And We will gather them on the Day of Standing, on their faces, blind, deaf, and dumb. Their final resting place is Hell; every time it extinguishes, We Will restart it to flare up.

17:98


ذَٰلِكَ That

Thalika

جَزَآؤُهُم (is) their recompense

بِاٰيَاتِنَا in Our Verses

خَلْقًا (as) a creation

جَدِيدًا new

جَزَى كَفَرَ آ ىي -آية قَالَ كَانَ عَظُمَ بعث خَلَقَ جدّ


That is their reward because they have denied Our signs and say, “Are we going to be raised as a new creation when we become bones and corpses?”

17:99


أَوَلَمْ Do not?

فَأَبَى But refused

الظَّالِمُونَ the wrongdoers

كُفُورًا disbelief

٩٩

رَأَى إِلَٰه خَلَقَ سما أَ رَضْ قدر خَلَقَ مَثَلَ جعل أجل رَابَ فِي أَبَى ظَلَمَ كَفَرَ


Do they not see that Allah Created the universe and the earth and Has the power to create more like them? He made them last only up to a fixed term where there is no doubt. But the unjust refused, only being ungrateful.

لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ surely you would withhold

خَشْيَةَ (out of) fear

الْإِنفَاقِ (of) spending

وَكَانَ And is

الْإنسَانُ man

alinsanu

قَتُورًا stingy

qatooran
ق ت ر
١٠٠

قَالَ ملك خَزَنَ رَحِمَ رَبَّ مسك خَشَيَ نفق كَانَ أَنِسَ قَتَرَ


Say, “If you have owned the treasures of the Mercy of my Rabb, then you would have held them back fearing the exhausting of the provisions.” Humankind has been parsimonious.

17:101


وَلَقَدْ And certainly

Walaqad

اٰتَيْنَا We had given

فِرْعَونُ Firaun

إِنِّى Indeed I

لَأَظُنُّكَ [I] think you

يَامُوسَىٰٓ O Musa!

مَسْحُورًا (you are) bewitched

١٠١

أتى تِسْعِ آ ىي -آية بَا نَ سأل اِبْن جَاءَ قَالَ ظَنَّ سَحَرَ


And indeed, We gave Musa nine signs with clear (evident) proofs, so ask the Children of Israel. When he (Musa) came to them, Firon said, “I consider, O Musa, you are possessed.”

17:102


قَالَ He said

لَأَظُنُّكَ [I] surely think you

يَافِرْعَونُ O Firaun!

مَثْبُورًا (you are) destroyed

١٠٢

قَالَ علِم نَزَلَ رَبَّ سما أَ رَضْ بصُر ظَنَّ ثَبَرَ


He (Musa) said, “You know none (of these) are sent down except from the Rabb of the universe and the earth, as insight (to be reasonable); and indeed, I consider that, O Firon, (you) are (inevitably) doomed.”

17:103


فَأَرَادَ So he intended

فَأَغْرَقْنَاهُ but We drowned him

مَّعَهُۥ (were) with him

جَمِيعًا all

jameeAAan
ج م ع
١٠٣

رَادَ فَزَّ أَ رَضْ غرِق جَمَعَ


Then he (Firon) planned to frighten them (away) from the land, so, (but) We drowned him and whoever was with him, all together.

17:104


وَقُلْنَا And We said

لَفِيفًا (as) a mixed crowd

١٠٤

قَالَ بعُد اِبْن سَكَنَ أَ رَضْ جَاءَ وَعَدَ أخر جَاءَ لَفَّ


After him, We said to the Children of Israel, “Establish in the land, and when Our promise of the Hereafter comes to you, you will come to Us assembled all together.”

17:105


وَبِالْحَقِّ And with the truth

Wabialhaqqi

أَنزَلْنَاهُ We sent it down

وَبِالْحَقِّ and with the truth

نَزَلَ it descended

مُبَشِّرًا (as) a bearer of glad tidings

وَنَذِيرًا and a warner

wanatheeran

١٠٥

حَقَّ نَزَلَ حَقَّ نَزَلَ رَسِلَ بشِر نَذَرَ


And with the actual confirmation, We sent down this (Quran), and with the truth, it was sent down. And We did not send you except, as a bearer of good news and to be a warner.

وَقُرْآناً And the Quran

And A Quran which We have divided (into Surahs and chapters) for its recitation on humankind, staying, (remaining), and We revealed this scripture in sessions.

قَالَ أَ مُنَ أمُن أتى علِم قَبِلَ تلو خَرَّ سَجَدَ


Say, “Believe in this (Quran) or do not believe (or not put a thought in it),” Those who were given the knowledge before this, when it is recited to them, fall to the ground at their chins (faces) in prostration.

17:108


وَيَقُولُونَ And they say

سُبْحَٰنَ Glory be to

رَبِّنَآ our Lord!

وَعْدُ (the) promise

رَبِّنَا (of) our Lord

قَالَ سبح رَبَّ كَانَ وَعَدَ رَبَّ فَعَلَ


And they say, “Praise is to our Rabb. The promise of our Rabb will be done (completed).”

17:109


وَيَخِرُّونَ And they fall

وَيَزِيدُهُمْ and it increases them

خُشُوعًا (in) humility

١٠٩

خَرَّ بَكَى زَادَ خَشَعَ


And they drop on their chins (faces) tearfully, and (it) increases their humility (submissiveness). ۩ (Prostration).

بِصَلَاتِكَ in your prayers

تُخَافِتْ you be silent

وَابْتَغِ but seek

بَيْنَ between

ذَٰلِكَ that

سَبِيلًا a way

sabeelan

١١٠

قَالَ دَعَا إِلَٰه دَعَا رَحِمَ دَعَا سَمِي حَسَنَ جهر صلو خَفَيَ بغى بَا نَ سَبَلَ


Say, “Call Allah, or you call Him the Most Merciful. Whatever you call, for Him are the Good Names,” And do not be loud with your prayers, nor become inaudible with this, but seek a way in between.

17:111


وَقُلِ And say

لَّهُۥ for Him

lahu

وَلِيٌّ any protector

waliyyun
و ل ي
مِّنَ out of

mina

الذُّلِّ weakness

alththulli
ذ ل ل
وَكَبِّرْهُ And magnify Him

wakabbirhu
ك ب ر
تَكْبِيرًا (with all) magnificence

١١١

قَالَ حَمِدَ إِلَٰه أَخَذَ وَلَدَ كَانَ شَرِكَ فِي ملك كَانَ وَلِيَ ذَلَّ كَبَرَ كَبَرَ


And say, “All the Praise belongs to Allah. He does not take a son, nor a partner for Him in the Kingdom, nor a supporter for Him out of weakness. He is the Highest and most Magnificent.
