Alif Laam Meem Raa. These are the verses of the Book, and what was revealed to you from your Rabb is truth, but most people do not believe.

إِلَٰه رَفَعَ سما غير عمد رَأَى سَوِيَ عَرَشَ سَخَرَ شَمَسَ قَمَرَ كُلّ جَرَى أجل سَمِي دبر أمر فَصَلَ آ ىي -آية لقِي رَبَّ يَقِنَ


Allah is the One who raised the universe high, expanded and erected it without visible pillars. (Note. This could be an indication of the gravitational force that is not seen but holds together galaxies, stars, planets, and even dark energy that expands the universe. Dark energy has been the most accepted premise to account for the accelerated expansion). After that, He sat on the Throne and subjugated (made) the sun and the moon, each to follow its course up to a fixed appointed period. He plans, (organizes, and manages) everything, and provides the details of the verses-signs so that you may believe in the meeting of your Rabb.

وَهُوَ And He

Wahuwa

 الَّذِى (is) the One Who

مدّ أَ رَضْ جعل رَسَا نهر كُلّ ثَمَرَ جعل زَاجَ ثنى غَشَا لَيْل نهر فِي آ ىي -آية قَامَ فَكُرَ


He is the One who spread the earth and put the mountains and the rivers in it. And He Made (developed) all (kinds of) the fruits with pairs of two. (Allah created a diverse array of fruit, each in complementary pairs).He covers the night with the day. Indeed, these are the signs for the people who think.

أَ رَضْ قَطَعَ جَارَ جنّ عنب زَرَعَ نَخَلَ صُنًو غير صُنًو سَقَى مَا ءَ أحد فَضَلَ بَعَضَ بَعَضَ فِي أكل فِي آ ىي -آية قَامَ عَقَلَ


And in the earth, there are adjacent sections (areas with different geological features that lie close together) and gardens of grapes, cultivation, and palm trees with branches and without branches; they all are fed with the one (same) water. And We cause some to excel others in (quality of) eating. These are the signs meant for those who can comprehend.

وَإِن And if

عَجَبَ عَجَبَ قَالَ كَانَ تَرِبَ خَلَقَ جدّ كَفَرَ رَبَّ غَلَّ عَنِقَ صَحِبَ نَار خَلَدَ


If you are surprised, then surprises are their words: “When we become dust, will we be in a new (another life) creation?” They are the ones who disbelieve in their Rabb. They are (the ones) who will be wearing collars around their necks. And they will be companions of the Fire and live therein forever.

13:6


وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ And they ask you to hasten

عَجِلَ سَا ءَ قَبِلَ حَسَنَ خَلَا قَبِلَ مَثَلَ رَبَّ ذُو غفر أَنِسَ ظَلَمَ رَبَّ شَدَّ عَقَبَ


And they ask you to expedite the grief (of punishment) before the good (the reward of doing good), though examples (of punishment and destruction caused by doing sins) have already passed before them. Indeed your Rabb forgives humankind for their injustice; certainly, your Rabb is severe in the punishment.

وَيَقُولُ And say

قَالَ كَفَرَ نَزَلَ آ ىي -آية رَبَّ نَذَرَ كُلّ قَامَ هَدَى


And the nonbelievers say, “Why is a sign not sent down on him from his Rabb?” You are only a warner, and every nation has a guide.

إِلَٰه علِم حَمَلَ كُلّ أَنُثَ غَاضَ رَحِمَ زَادَ كُلّ شِاءَ عَنَدَ قدر


Allah knows what is carried in the wombs of the females, and with every decrease and increase in the wombs. And everything with Him is with measure.

He knows the invisible and the visible. And He is the Greatest, the Exalted.

سَوِيَ سَرَّ قَالَ جهر خَفَيَ لَيْل سَرِبَ نهر


(To Him) You (all) are equal, whether one keeps secret his words or one who announces (declares) it, whether he secretly hides in the darkness of night or visible in the day.

عَقَبَ بَا نَ يدي خَلَفَ حَفِظَ أمر إِله إِلَٰه غير قَامَ غير نفُس رَادَ إِلَٰه قَامَ سَا ءَ رَدَّ دُون وَأَلَ


For his protection, (angels) follow him in front and behind him, carrying out Allah's command. Indeed, Allah Does not change what is in the nation until they change what is in themselves. And if Allah desires harm for a nation, then there is no returning (of harm), and there is nobody for them other than Him to support them.

Huwa

 الَّذِى (is) the One Who

رَأَى برق خَفَيَ طَمِعَ نَشَأَ سَحَبَ ثقل


He is the One who shows you the lightning, as fear and hope. And He is the One Who drives the heavy clouds. (Note word-heavy: A 1 cubic kilometer (km3) cloud contains 1 billion cubic meters. Doing the math: 1,000,000,000 x 0.5 density = 500,000,000 grams of water droplets in our cloud. That is about 500,000 kilograms or 1.1 million pounds about 551 tons of water in every cubic km).

وَيُسَبِّحُ And glorifies

سبح رعد حَمِدَ ملك خَفَيَ رَسِلَ صَعَقَ صاب شِاءَ جدل فِي إِله شَدَّ حَالَ


The thunder (caused by thunderbolts) praises Him with His glory, as do the angels in His fear. And He sends the thunderbolts (in storms), which fall on whoever He desires. Yet they argue about Allah, while He is the One Strong, Cunning (crafty in using special resources such as skill or knowledge or attaining an end).

دَعَا حَقَّ دَعَا دُون جاب شِاءَ بسط كفا مَا ءَ بلغ فَاهَ بلغ دَعَا كَفَرَ فِي ضلّ


To Him are the true calls (praying). And those whom they call upon besides Allah do not respond to them in anything, except like someone opening the palms of his hand to the water to reach his mouth, but it does not reach him. What are the calls of nonbelievers, except falsehood?

إِله سَجَدَ فِي سما أَ رَضْ طَاعَ كَرِهَ ظَلَّ غَدَا أ صُل


To Allah prostates whatever is in the universe and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, as do their shadows in the mornings and the evenings. ۩ Prostration

قَالَ رَبَّ سما أَ رَضْ قَالَ إِلَٰه قَالَ أَخَذَ دُون وَلِيَ ملك نفُس نَفَعَ ضَرَّ قَالَ سَوِيَ عَمِيَ بصُر سوِي ظَلَمَ نَار جعل إِلَٰه شَرِكَ خَلَقَ خَلَقَ شَبه خَلَقَ قَالَ إِلَٰه خَلَقَ كُلّ شِاءَ أ حد قَهَرَ


Say, “Who is Rabb of the universe and the earth?” Say, “Allah.” Say, “If you take other than Him as supporters, who do not own themselves (are not capable of doing) any benefit or harm?” Say, “Are the blind and the seeing equal? Or are darkness and light equal? Or do they make partners for Allah? Can they create like His creation? So, is the creation (their creation and His creation looks) similar to them? Say, “Allah created everything, and He is the Only Subduer (subjugator).”

١٧

نَزَلَ سَمَا مَا ءَ سيل وَدَى قدر حَمَلَ سَا ءَ زَبَدَ رَبَا وقد فِي نَار بغى حَلُوَ مَتَعَ زَبَدَ مَثَلَ ضَرَبَ إِلَٰه حَقَّ بَطَلَ زَبَدَ ذهب NF نَفَعَ أَنِسَ مَكَثَ فِي أَ رَضْ ضَرَبَ إِلَٰه مَثَلَ


He sends down water from the sky, flooding the valleys according to their capacity. The flood carries excess foam. People use what they ignite in the fire to craft jewelry or objects of enjoyment that become foam-like. That is how Allah gives an example of truth and falsehood. As for the foam, it goes as useless (like falsehood), but what is beneficial for humankind settles down on the earth. That is how Allah gives examples.

13:18


لِلَّذِينَ For those who

جَهَنَّمُ (is) Hell

الْمِهَادُ (is) the resting place

جاب رَبَّ حَسَنَ جاب فِي أَ رَضْ جَمَعَ مَثَلَ فَدَى سَا ءَ حَسَبَ أوى بَأْ س- بَؤُ سَ مَهْد


For those who responded to their Rabb, they are the best. But those who do not respond to Him, even if they possess for them whatever is in the earth altogether, and twice as much, they will offer to pay as ransom with it (to escape from Hell). For them is a harmful account; their dwelling is Hell, and what a wretched resting place.

علِم نَزَلَ رَبَّ حَقَّ عَمِيَ ذَكّرَ أ و لبْ


Is the one who knows that what has been revealed to you from your Rabb is the truth, like one who is blind? Only those of understanding will remember.

13:20


الَّذِينَ Those who

Those who fulfill their commitments with Allah and do not break the oaths.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

وَصَلَ أمر إِلَٰه وَصَلَ خَشَيَ رَبَّ خَفَيَ سَا ءَ حَسَبَ


And those who establish the ties that Allah has commanded to connect and fear their Rabb and are afraid of the harmful (results of their) account.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

صَبَرَ بغى وَجَهَ رَبَّ قَامَ صلو نفق رَزَقَ سَرَّ عَلَنَ دَرَأَ حَسَنَ سَا ءَ عَقَبَ دَارَ


And those who are patient and seek their Rabb's direction, establish prayers and spend from what We have provided to them, secretly and openly, and repel bad with the good. For them is the home that follows (to retreat).

جَنَّاتُ Gardens

جنّ عَدْن دَخَلَ صَلَحَ أَب زَاجَ ذَرَّ ملك دَخَلَ كُلّ بَا ب


They will enter the Gardens of Paradise, along with those who did righteous deeds, among their fathers (forefathers, ancestors), husbands, wives, and offspring. And the angels will enter on them from every door.

سَلَامٌ (Saying) Peace

“Peace is on you because of what you have been patient. Comfort and luxury will be for them in the home that follows (retreat)”.

نقض عَهِدَ إِله بعُد وَثَقَ قَطَعَ أمر إِلَٰه وَصَلَ فَسَدَ فِي أَ رَضْ لَعَنَ سَا ءَ دَارَ


As for those who break their agreement with Allah, after their covenant (contract, treaty) and they cut off what Allah has ordered to join, and they spread corruption in the earth, those, for them, a curse, and for them is the miserable home (turn).

إِلَٰه بسط رَزَقَ شِاءَ قدر فَرِحَ حي دَنَا حي دَنَا فِي أخر مَتَعَ


Allah abundantly spreads the provisions (means of livelihood) for whomever He desires and Measures. And they become happy with the life of this world; nothing is the life of this world (compare) to the Hereafter (life of this world, it is only temporary) enjoyment.

قَالَ كَفَرَ نَزَلَ آ ىي -آية رَبَّ قَالَ إِلَٰه ضلّ شِاءَ هَدَى نَابَ


Those who are nonbelievers say, “Why has a sign not been sent down on him from his Rabb?” Say, “Allah leaves whoever He desires to be misguided, and He guides towards Him who turns repentantly from time to time to Allah.”

الَّذِينَ Those who

أَ مُنَ طَأْمَنَ قلب ذَكّرَ إِله ذَكّرَ إِله طَأْمَنَ قلب


Those who believe and are satisfied in their hearts with the remembrance of Allah. It is that remembrance of Allah that satisfies the hearts.

الَّذِينَ Those who

And for those who believed and did righteous deeds, goodness (pleasures) will be for them, and what a good place reserved (for a person).

رَسِلَ أمّ خَلَا قَبِلَ أمّ تلو وَحَى كَفَرَ رَحِمَ قَالَ رَبَّ إِله وَكَلَ تاب


That is how We sent you to the nation where many generations before were vacant (from messengers), for you to recite what We have revealed to you. (Yet) they disbelieve in the Merciful. Say, “He is my Rabb; there is no God except Him; on Him I trust, and to Him, I repent.”

٣١

قَرَأَ سَارَ جبل قَطَعَ أَ رَضْ كُلّ مَاتَ إِله أمر جَمَعَ ا سو أَ مُنَ شِاءَ إِلَٰه هَدَى أَنِسَ جَمَعَ زَالَ كَفَرَ صاب صَنَعَ قَرَعَ حَلَّ قرُب دَارَ أتى وَعَدَ إِله إِلَٰه خَلَفَ وَعَدَ


Even if there was a Quran that moves the mountains, the earth is split into pieces, or by which dead will speak by this. Allah has the (final) Authority altogether. Doesn't this make it hopeless for those who believed? If Allah desired, He would have guided all of humankind altogether. And for nonbelievers, calamity will not cease to strike them (still reach them) because of what they have been fabricating or strike (break up) near their homes until the promise of Allah comes. Allah Does Not Break the promise.

وَلَقَدِ And certainly

هزِىء رَسِلَ قَبِلَ مَلَأَ كَفَرَ أَخَذَ كَيدَ كَانَ عَقَبَ


And already they made a mockery with messengers before you, but I gave a long time for those who disbelieved, and then I seized them. What a punishment it was!

أَفَمَنْ Is then He Who?

قَامَ كُلّ نفُس كَسَبَ جعل إِلَٰه شَرِكَ قَالَ سَمَّ نبأ علِم فِي أَ رَضْ ظهر قَالَ زَانَ كَفَرَ مَكَرَ صَدَّ سَبَلَ ضلّ إِلَٰه هَدَى


Is He who stands on every soul with what they earned? And (Yet) they made partners for Allah. Say, “Name them! Or do you inform Him about what He does not know on earth, or is it evident from the words?” In fact, it is decorated for those who disbelieve and oppose the path (of Allah). Whoever is let go as misguided by Allah, then there is no one for him to guide.

13:34


لَّهُمْ For them

Lahum

 عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment

عَذُبَ فِي حي دَنَا عَذُبَ أخر شَقَّ إِله وقى


For them is punishment in the life of this world, and the punishment of the Hereafter is more troublesome (difficult). And there is nobody for them to protect from Allah.

مَثَلَ جنّ وَعَدَ تقى جَرَى تحْت نهر أكل دَامَ ظَلَّ عَقَبَ تقى عَقَبَ كَفَرَ نَار


An example for those who have fear is the promised garden and rivers running below them, with everlasting food and shade. This is the last resort for those who fear, and the last resort for the nonbelievers is the Fire.

13:36


وَالَّذِينَ And those (to) whom

Waallatheena

 اٰتَيْنَاهُمُ We have given them

أتى كَتَبَ فَرِحَ نَزَلَ حَزَبَ نَكِرَ بَضَعَ قَالَ أمر عَبَدَ إِلَٰه شَرِكَ دَعَا أ و ب


Those given the Book are happy with what is sent to you, while some of the group deny some. Say, “I am ordered to worship Allah and not make partners with Him. To Him, I call, and towards Him is my return (a reserved place of person).”

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

Wakathalika

 أَنزَلْنَاهُ We have revealed it

نَزَلَ حَكَمَ عَرَب تبِع هوى بعُد جَاءَ علِم إِله وَلِيَ وقى


That is how We send down commands in Arabic. And If you follow their desires, after what came to you in your knowledge, there will be no one for you other than Allah as a supporter and protector.

وَلَقَدْ And certainly

Walaqad

 أَرْسَلْنَا We sent

رَسِلَ رَسِلَ قَبِلَ جعل زَاجَ ذَرَّ كَانَ رَسِلَ أتى آ ىي -آية أَذن إِله كُلّ أجل كَتَبَ


And already We have sent down messengers before you, and We made wives and children for them. No messenger could bring a sign-verse except with the permission of Allah. For every era, there is a book.

يَمْحُوا (Is) eliminated

Allah eliminates and establishes what He Wills. He holds the source of the Book.

وَإِن And whether

 عَلَيْكَ on you

 الْبَلَاغُ (is) the conveyance

وَعَلَيْنَا and on Us

waAAalayna

 الْحِسَابُ (is) the reckoning

رَأَى بَعَضَ عَدَّ وَفَى بلغ حَسَبَ


And whether, We show you (in your lifetime) some of what We have promised them, or We cause you to die, only (responsibility) on you is the communication, and on Us is the account.

أَوَلَمْ Did not?

لِحُكْمِهِۦ (of) His Judgment

وَهُوَ And He

 سَرِيعُ (is) Swift

الْحِسَابِ (in) the reckoning

٤١

رَأَى أتى أَ رَضْ قصّ طَرَفَ إِلَٰه حَكَمَ عَقَبَ حَكَمَ سَرُعَ حَسَبَ


Do they not see that We bring the earth, decreasing (reducing area under control by unbelievers) around them? Allah commands: nothing is going to hold back His decision. And He is fast in the account.

وَقَدْ And certainly

مَكَرَ قَبِلَ إِله مَكَرَ جَمَعَ علِم كَسَبَ كُلّ نفُس علِم كَفَرَ عَقَبَ دَارَ


And already those before them made plans (plotted), but Allah has power over their deceiving plots altogether. He knows what is earned by every soul, and soon the non-believers will know for whom the last retreat is (life in this world is not the end, last retreat, or last round for them).

وَيَقُولُ And say

وَمَنْ and whoever

قَالَ كَفَرَ لَيْسَ رَسِلَ قَالَ كفى إِلَٰه شَهِدَ بَا نَ بَا نَ عَنَدَ علِم كَتَبَ


Those who disbelieve say,” You are not a messenger (a person who is inspired to proclaim the will of God).” Say, “Allah is sufficient as a Witness between me and you and whoever has the knowledge of the ٍ Book.”
