سَأَلَ Asked

Inquired (asked) a questioner about the fact of punishment. (Inquired about whether the punishment would be imposed.).

لِّلْكَافِرينَ To the disbelievers

كَفَرَ لَيْسَ دَفَعَ


For the ungrateful, nothing can avert it (drive away).

عَرَجَ ملك رَاحَ فِي يوْم كَانَ قدر خمس أَلْف سَنَه


The angels and the souls ascend to Him in a period (like) with the count of fifty thousand years.

فَاصْبِرْ So be patient

So, be patient, (with) beautiful patience.

إِنَّهُمْ Indeed they

Indeed, they see it far away.

وَنَرَاهُ But We see it

But We see it close.

70:8


يَوْمَ (The) Day

يوْم كَانَ سَمِي مَهَلَ


On the Day when the sky will be like molten copper.

وَتَكُونُ And will be

الْجِبَالُ the mountains

كَالْعِهْنِ like wool

كَانَ جبل عَرَجَ


And the mountains will be like tufted wool.

وَلَا And not

يَسْـَٔلُ will ask

سأل حَمَّ حَمَّ


No guardian (protector) will ask about his guarded (protected).

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْ They will be made to see each other

بصُر ودّ جرم فَدَى عَذُبَ اِبْن


They will be made to see each other; the criminal will desire to offer his children as a sacrifice to be saved from punishment on the Day.

وَصَاحِبَتِهِۦ And his spouse

وَأَخِيهِ and his brother

صَحِبَ أخو


And his companion (wife) and his brother.

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ And his nearest kindred

الَّتِى who

تُؤْويهِ sheltered him

فَصَلَ أوى


And the group that sheltered him.

70:14


وَمَن And whoever

فِى (is) on

الْأَرْضِ the earth

ثُمَّ then

يُنجِيهِ it (could) save him

١٤

فِي أَ رَضْ جَمَعَ نَجَا


And whatever is on the earth altogether to rescue him.

كَلَّآ By no means!

Kalla

إِنَّهَا Indeed it (is)

لَظَىٰ surely a Flame of Hell

نَزَّاعَةً A remover

Pulling out the roasted meat.

تَدْعُو Inviting

Calling upon the person who turned their back and ran away (from the truth).

وَجَمَعَ And collected

جَمَعَ وعى


And collected and contained (hoarded).

70:19


إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

الْإِنسَانَ the man

هَلُوعًا anxious

أَنِسَ خَلَقَ هَلِعَ


Indeed, humankind was created impatient (restless, anxious).

When ill touches him, he becomes saddened.

وَإِذَا And when

الَّذِينَ Those who

صَلَاتِهِمْ their prayer

صلو دَامَ


Those who remain steadfast in their prayers.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

أَمْوَالِهِمْ their wealth

حَقٌّ (is) a right

٢٤

مَال حَقَّ علِم


Those who have (assigned) known rights in their wealth.

لِّلسَّائِلِ For the one who asks

وَالْمَحْرُومِ and the deprived

سأل حَرُمَ


For the requester (who asks, begs) and the deprived (unable to meet his needs or those excluded in the distribution of wealth).

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

يُصَدِّقُونَ accept (the) truth

بِيَوْمِ (of the) Day

الدِّينِ (of) the Judgment

٢٦

صَدَقَ يوْم دَنَا


And those who testify (with a certainty of belief and confirm) for the Day of the Last Judgment.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

مُّشْفِقُونَ (are) fearful

عَذُبَ رَبَّ شَفِقَ


And those who are on guard (beware) of the punishment of their Rabb.

إِنَّ Indeed

Inna

عَذَابَ (the) punishment

رَبِّهِمْ (of) your Lord

مَأْمُونٍ to be felt secure (of)

عَذُبَ رَبَّ غير أمُن


Indeed, the punishment of their Rabb is with no peace and safety (not to be perceived lightly).

70:29


وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

هُمْ [they]

hum

لِفُرُوجِهِمْ their modesty

lifuroojihim

حَافِظُونَ (are) guardians

٢٩

فَرَجَ حَفِظَ


And those who are protectors of their (modesty) openings.

70:30


إِلَّا Except

Illa

عَلَىٰٓ from

أَزْوَاجِهِمْ their spouses

أَيْمَانُهُمْ rightfully

مَلُومِينَ blameworthy

زَاجَ ملك يَمَنَ غير لَامَ


Except for their wives or what their right hands own, then they are not blamed.

فَمَنِ But whoever

ابْتَغَىٰ seeks

وَرَآءَ beyond

ذَٰلِكَ that

فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ then those

هُمُ [they]

الْعَادُونَ (are) the transgressors

بغى رَأَى عَدَّ


But whoever desires beyond that exceeds the boundaries (go beyond limits).

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

هُمْ [they]

hum

لِأَمَانَاتِهِمْ of their trusts

liamanatihim
أ م ن
وَعَهْدِهِمْ and their promise

waAAahdihim

رَاعُونَ (are) observers

raAAoona
ر ع ي
٣٢

أمُن عَهِدَ رَعَنَ


And those who guard their trusts and their oaths.

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

Waallatheena

هُم [they]

hum

بِشَهَادَاتِهِمْ in their testimonies

قَآئِمُونَ stand firm

شَهِدَ قَامَ


And those who stand up for their testimonies (witnesses).

وَالَّذِينَ And those who

صَلَاتِهِمْ their prayer

And those who protect their prayers.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

Olaika

فِى (will be) in

جَنَّاتٍ Gardens

مُّكْرَمُونَ honored

فِي جنّ كَرُمَ


They will be honored in gardens (of paradise).

فَمَالِ So what is with?

كَفَرَ قَبِلَ هَطَعَ


What is with those nonbelievers standing before you, protruding their necks (outstretching their necks, staring at you)?

أَيَطْمَعُ Does long?

"Does every man among them desire to enter the Blessed Garden?"

كَلَّآ By no means!

خَلَقْنَاهُم [We] have created them

خَلَقَ علِم


No indeed! We created them from what they know.

فَلَآ But nay!

قَسَمَ رَبَّ شَرَقَ غَرَبَ قدر


Then no, I take an oath by the Rabb of the East and the West that We have the capability.

عَلَىٰٓ [On]

بَدَلَ خَيرَ سبق


On that, We can replace them with those better than them, and We will not be overtaken (We Can take them out and bring new nations).

فَذَرْهُمْ So leave them

يَخُوضُوا (to) converse vainly

وَيَلْعَبُوا and amuse themselves

يُلَاقُوا they meet

يَوْمَهُمُ their Day

يُوعَدُونَ they are promised

ذَرَا خَاضَ لَعِبَ لقِي يوْم وَعَدَ


So, leave them engaging and playing until they meet on the promised day.

يَوْمَ (The) Day

يوْم خرج جَدَث سَرُعَ نَصَبَ فَضَّ


The Day they will emerge from their graves in haste like they were concluding (reaching an end) to a (post erected) target.

خَاشِعَةً Humbled

خَشَعَ بصُر رَهِقَ ذَلَّ يوْم كَانَ وَعَدَ


Their eyes will be humbled, and humiliation will exhaust them - the day they were promised.
