الٓر Alif Lam Ra

Aliflamra

كِتَابٌ (This is) a Book

أُحْكِمَتْ are perfected

كَتَبَ حَكَمَ آ ىي -آية فَصَلَ لّدُن حَكَمَ خَبَرَ


Alif Lam Raa. A Book made precisely (strengthened) for the wisdom with His Ayats/Signs and then explained in detail from All-Knowing, He is Fully Informed. (The book is supported by its verses/signs and defined by the All-Knowing, Who is fully informed).

11:2


أَلَّا That Not

Alla

تَعْبُدُوٓاْ you worship

إِلَّا but

اللهَ Allah

Allaha

إِنَّنِى Indeed I am

innanee

لَكُم to you

lakum

مِّنْهُ from Him

minhu

نَذِيرٌ a warner

وَبَشِيرٌ and a bearer of glad tidings

wabasheerun

عَبَدَ إِلَٰه نَذَرَ بشِر


You should not worship anyone else except Allah, “I am a Warner for you from Him and provider of good news.”

11:3


وَأَنِ And that

Waani

اسْتَغْفِرُواْ Seek forgiveness

رَبَّكُمْ (of) your Lord

تُوبُوٓاْ turn in repentance

إِلَيْهِ to Him

غفر رَبَّ تاب مَتَعَ مَتَعَ حَسَنَ أجل سَمِي أتى كُلّ ذُو فَضَلَ فَضَلَ وَلِيَ أ خو عَذُبَ يوْم كَبَرَ


“And if you ask for forgiveness from your Rabb and repent to Him. He will provide you good provisions (livelihood) until a fixed time, and He will grant His favors to everyone with good (qualities). But if you turn away, I fear the punishment of a great Day is upon you.

إِله رَجَعَ كُلّ شِاءَ قدر


“To Allah is your return, and He is the One Who Has Power (Control) over everything.”

11:5


أَلَآ No doubt!

Ala

إِنَّهُمْ They

innahum

يَثْنُونَ fold up

صُدُورَهُمْ their breasts

لِيَسْتَخْفُواْ that they may hide

الصُّدُورِ (is in) the breasts

ثنى صدر خَفَيَ حَانَ غَشَا ثَابَ علِم سَرَّ عَلَنَ علِم ذُو صدر


Indeed, they wrap (double up) their chests to hide from Him. (But) Even when they hide (cover-up) with their clothes, He knows what they hide and what they declare. He is the One Who Knows All (secrets) hidden in the hearts.

وَمَا And not

دَبَّ فِي أَ رَضْ إِله رَزَقَ علِم قَرَّ وَدَعَ كُلّ فِي كَتَبَ بَا نَ


And none of the creatures on the earth but its sustenance depends on Allah. And He knows where it resides and where its storage is (deposited after death). Everything is clearly registered (in the Book).

وَهُوَ And He

Wahuwa

الَّذِى (is) the One Who

خَلَقَ سما أَ رَضْ فِي سِتَّة يوْم كَانَ عَرَشَ مَا ءَ بلو حَسَنَ عَمِلَ قَالَ بعث بعُد مَاتَ قَالَ كَفَرَ سَحَرَ بَا نَ


He is the One who created the universe and the earth in six periods, and His throne was on the fluid to test who among you can do better deeds. And if you say you will be raised (resurrected) after death,” those who are ungrateful will say, “This will be nothing but clear magic.”

11:8


وَلَئِنْ And if

Walain

أَخَّرْنَا We delay

وَحَاقَ and will surround

كَانُواْ they used (to)

بِهِۦ at [it]

يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ mock

٨

أخر عَذُبَ أمّ عَدَّ قَالَ حَبَسَ يوْم أتى لَيْسَ صَرَفَ حاق كَانَ هَزِىءَ


If We delay the punishment for them until a few counted (later) periods, they would say, “What holds it back? Indeed, on the Day when it arrives, there is no turning back. It will surround them with what they have been mocking.

11:9


وَلَئِنْ And if

Walain

أَذَقْنَا We give a taste

الْإِنْسَانَ (to) man

رَحْمَةً (of) Mercy

ثُمَّ then

نَزَعْنَاهَا We withdraw it

إِنَّهُۥ indeed he

لَيَئُوسٌ (is) despairing

كَفُورٌ (and) ungrateful

ذاق أَنِسَ رَحِمَ نَزَعَ يَأَسَ كَفَرَ


If We give the man a taste of mercy from Us and then withdraw that from him, he becomes despaired and ungrateful.

11:10


وَلَئِنْ But if

Walain

أَذَقْنَاهُ We give him a taste

لَفَرِحٌ (is) exultant

فَخُورٌ (and) boastful

fakhoorun
ف خ ر
١٠

ذاق نَعَمَ بعُد ضَرَّ مسّ قَالَ ذهب سَا ءَ فَرِحَ فَخَرَ


And if We give him favors after hardship touches him, sure he will say, “The difficulties have gone away from me.” Indeed, he is happy and boastful.

11:11


إِلَّا Except

Illa

الَّذِينَ those who

allatheena

صَبَرُواْ (are) patient

الصَّالِحَاتِ the good deeds

مَّغْفِرَةٌ (will be) forgiveness

وَأَجْرٌ and a reward

كَبِيرٌ great

١١

صَبَرَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ غفر أَجَرَ كَبَرَ


Except for those who are patient and do good deeds, For them, there is forgiveness and a great reward.

فَلَعَلَّكَ Then possibly you

١٢

ترك بَعَضَ وَحَى ضَاقَ صدر قَالَ نَزَلَ كَنَزَ جَاءَ ملك نَذَرَ إِلَٰه كُلّ شِاءَ وَكَلَ


Perhaps you wish to give up and abandon what is inspired to you, and it causes tightness in your chest because of what they say, “Why a treasure is not sent down on him, or he came with angels?” Indeed, you are only a warner, and Allah has Authority over everything.

أَمْ Or

Am

يَقُولُونَ they say

قَالَ فتر قَالَ أتى عَشَرَ سُور مَثَلَ فتر دَعَا طَاعَ دُون إِله كَانَ صَدَقَ


Or do they say, “He fabricated it? Say, “Then bring ten verses like it, fabricated, and call whoever is in your capacity, other than Allah, if you have been truthful.”

11:14


فَإِلَّمْ Then if not

Faillam

يَسْتَجِيبُواْ they respond

فَاعْلَمُوٓاْ then know

أُنزِلِ it was sent down

هُوَ Him

فَهَلْ Then would?

أَنتُم you

مُّسْلِمُونَ (be) Muslims

جاب علِم نَزَلَ علِم إِله إِله سلِم


But if they do not respond to you, then know that it was sent down with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no God except Him. Will you not become Muslim?

11:15


مَن Whoever

Man

يُبْخَسُونَ will be lessened

كَانَ رَادَ حي دَنَا زَانَ وَفَى عَمِلَ بخس


Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments, We will repay them in full for their actions, and they will not be diminished in it.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

الَّذِينَ (are) the ones who

الاٰخِرَةِ the Hereafter

النَّارُ the Fire

وَحَبِطَ And (has) gone in vain

وَبَاطِلٌ and (is) worthless

لَيْسَ فِي أخر نَار حَبَطَ صَنَعَ بَطَلَ كَانَ عَمِلَ


They will have nothing for them in the Hereafter except the Fire. What they have fabricated will come to nothing, making their deeds worthless.

أَفَمَن Then is he who?

النَّاسِ (of) the people

١٧

كَانَ بَا نَ رَبَّ تلو شَهِدَ قَبِلَ كَتَبَ أ مّ رَحِمَ أمُن كَفَرَ حَزَبَ نَار وَعَدَ كَانَ فِي مَرْي حَقَّ رَبَّ كَثَرَ أَنِسَ أمُن


He recites as a witness from Him and is on clear evidence from his Rabb, and before it was the Book of Musa, that was guidance and mercy. They believe in it. But whichever party denies it, then Fire is promised for him. So, do not doubt it. It is the truth from your Rabb, but many of humankind do not believe it.

وَمَنْ And who?

أَظْلَمُ (is) more unjust

الْأَشْهَادُ the witnesses

هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ These (are)

الَّذِينَ those who

allatheena

كَذَبُواْ lied

kathaboo

عَلَىٰ against

رَبِّهِمْ their Lord

أَلَا No doubt!

ala

لَعْنَةُ (The) curse

اللهِ of Allah

AAala

الظَّالِمِينَ the wrongdoers

١٨

ظَلَمَ فتر إِله كَذَبَ عَرُضَ رَبَّ قَالَ شَهِدَ كَذَبَ رَبَّ لَعَنَ إِله ظَلَمَ


Who is more unjust than him, who fabricates lies about Allah? They are the ones who will be presented to their Rabb, and the witnesses will say, “These are the ones who denied their Rabb.” The curse of Allah is on those who are unjust.

الَّذِينَ Those who

صَدَّ سَبَلَ إِله بغى عَوِجَ أخر كَفَرَ


Those who hinder from the path of Allah and seek the crookedness; and in the Hereafter, they do not believe.

كَانَ عَجَزَ فِي أَ رَضْ كَانَ دُون إِله وَلِيَ ضَعَفَ عَذُبَ كَانَ طَاعَ سَمَعَ كَانَ بصُر


They will never weaken (Allah) on earth, and there is nobody for them as a supporter other than Allah. The punishment will be double for them. (Because) They were not able to listen, and they were not seeing.

أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ Those

Those are the ones who have lost (forfeited) themselves, and what they used to fabricate is lost from them.

فِيهَا in it

خَالِدُونَ (will) abide forever

أَ مُنَ عَمِلَ صَلَحَ خَبَأَ رَبَّ صَحِبَ جنّ خَلَدَ


Indeed, those who believe, do righteous deeds and take shelter (their hiding place) with their Rabb are the companions of the Garden, where they will live forever.

تَذَكَّرُونَ you take heed

مَثَلَ فرق عَمِيَ صَمَّ بصُر سَمَعَ سوِي مَثَلَ ذَكّرَ


An example of the two groups is (one group) the blind and the deaf, and the (another group) is endowed with eyesight (having keen insight) and hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Do you not then remember (take a note)?

وَلَقَدْ And verily

And indeed, We sent Noah to his nation, (he said) “I am for you a clear Warner.”

قَالَ مَلَأَ كَفَرَ قَامَ رَأَى بشر مَثَلَ رَأَى تبِع رَذَلَ بَدَأَ رَأَى رَأَى فَضَلَ ظَنَّ كَذَبَ


The leaders of the non-believers in his community said, "We see you only as a man, like us (no different from us). We see that only those considered inferior by us follow you, and we do not recognize any exceptional qualities in you that set you apart from us. Therefore, we consider you liars (your claims to be false and unsubstantiated)."

قَالَ قَامَ رَأَى كَانَ بَا نَ رَبَّ أتى رَحِمَ عَنَدَ عَمِيَ لَزِمَ كَرِهَ


He (Noah) said, “O my nation, do you see? If I have been on clear proof (evidence) from my Rabb, and He gave me (guidance) mercy from Himself, but obscured from you, should we make it obligatory (compel you to believe) even though you are unwilling for it?”

وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

قَامَ سأل مَال أَجَرَ إِله طَرَدَ أَ مُنَ لقِي رَبَّ رَأَى قَامَ جَهِلَ


“O my nation! I do not ask you for any wealth on this. My reward is only from Allah, and I will not drive away those who believe; they will meet their Rabb. And but I see you as an ignorant nation.”

وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

“O my nation! Who will help me against Allah if I drive them away? Do you not take note (think)?”

قَالَ عَنَدَ خَزَنَ إِله علِم غَابَ قَالَ ملك قَالَ NF عين أتى إِلَٰه خَيرَ إِلَٰه علِم نفُس ظَلَمَ


“And, I do not say to you that I have treasures of Allah with me, nor do I know the unseen, nor do I say that I am an angel. Nor do I say to those whom you despise in your eyes (look down) that Allah will never give them better. Allah Knows best what is in their souls. (If I did), I would be among the unjust.”

قَالَ جدل كَثَرَ جدل أتى وَعَدَ كَانَ صَدَقَ


They said, “O Noah, you have argued with us and had many arguments with us. Now bring us (the punishment) what you are promising to us if you are from the truthful.”

He said, “It will truly come to you from Allah if He Wills, and you will not be able to resist.”

نَفَعَ نصح رَادَ نصح كَانَ إِلَٰه رَادَ غَوَى رَبَّ رَجَعَ


“And my advice will not benefit you, even if I want to advise you if Allah desires to leave you misguided. He is your Rabb, and to Him, you will return.”

Or do they say, “He (The Prophet) fabricated it?” Say, “If I have fabricated it, then on me is my sin, and I am absolved from your crimes.”

وَأُوحِىَ And it was revealed

And it was revealed to Noah: “Because your nation will never believe, except those who have already believed, so do not become sad about what they are doing.”

وَاصْنَعِ And construct

صَنَعَ فَلَكَ عين وَحَى خَطَبَ فِي ظَلَمَ غرِق


“And build the ship in front of Our Eyes, and with Our inspiration, and do not speak to me about those who have been unjust; they will be drowned.”

وَيَصْنَعُ And he was constructing

صَنَعَ فَلَكَ كُلّ مرّ مَلَأَ قَامَ سَخَرَ قَالَ سَخَرَ سَخَرَ سَخَرَ


(While) He (Noah) was building the ship, and every time chiefs from his nation passed by it, they made a mockery of it. He said, “If you are making a mockery of us, then we will be making a mockery of you, just like you are mocking.”

فَسَوْفَ And soon

Fasawfa

تَعْلَمُونَ you will know

علِم أتى عَذُبَ خَزِيَ حَلَّ عَذُبَ قَامَ


“Then soon you will know, upon whom, punishment will come, that will degrade him, and who will settle down (receive) with permanent punishment.”

Behold! Then, (suddenly), when Our command came, and pits gushed forth, We said, “Carry in it (the ship) two from every pair (of animals), and (from) your family except those who are preceded with the conclusion (whose fate is concluded), and those who have believed with him.” But there were no believers with him except a few.

قَالَ رَكِبَ سَمِي إِله جَرَى رَسَا رَبَّ غفر رَحِمَ


And (Noah) said, “Go aboard (on the ship). In the name of Allah is its course and its docking (anchoring). Indeed, my Rabb is Most Forgiving and Most Merciful.

جَرَى فِي مَاجَ جبل ندا اِبْن كَانَ فِي عَزَلَ اِبْن رَكِبَ كَانَ كَفَرَ


And so, it took its course with them on waves (that were) like mountains. And Noah called to his son, who was in an isolated place, “O my son! Ride with us, and do not be with the unjust.”

قَالَ أوى جبل عَصَمَ مَا ءَ قَالَ عَصَمَ يوْم أمر إِله رَحِمَ حَالَ بَا نَ مَاجَ كَانَ غرِق


He (son) said, “I will take shelter on a mountain; it will protect me from the water.” He (Noah) said, “There is no protection on this day from command of Allah, except upon whom He Has mercy.” And the waves surged between them, and he was among the drowned.

قَالَ أَ رَضْ NF مَا ءَ سَمِي NF غَاضَ مَا ءَ قَضَى أمر سوِي قَالَ بعُد قَامَ ظَلَمَ


And it was said, “O earth, swallow up your water,” and “O sky, abandon and recede the water.” And the command was accomplished, and it (ship) sat (descended) on (Mount) Judy, and it was said, “Removed (Gone away) the nation of the unjust.”

ندا رَبَّ قَالَ رَبَّ اِبْن أهَلَ وَعَدَ حَقَّ حَكَمَ حَكَمَ


And Noah called to his Rabb. Then he said, “O my Rabb, my son was among my family, and You promised the truth, and You are Most Judicious of the Judges.

قَالَ لَيْسَ هَلَكَ عَمِلَ غير صَلَحَ سأل لَيْسَ علِم عَظُمَ كَانَ جَهِلَ


(Allah) Said (to Noah), “O Noah, indeed, he was not from your family. His deed was not good. So, do not ask Me about what you do not know. I advise you not to be among ignorant.”

He said, "My Rabb, I seek refuge in You from asking You that I do not know.". Unless You forgive me and have mercy on me, I will be among the losers."

سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ We will grant enjoyment

يَمَسُّهُم will touch them

مِّنَّا from Us

عَذَابٌ a punishment

أَلِيمٌ painful

قَالَ هَبَطَ سلِم بَرَكَ أمّ أمّ مَتَعَ مسّ عَذُبَ أَ لِمَ


It was said, “O Noah, descend with peace from Us; blessings upon you and generations who are with you. And other communities, We will give them the provisions (of life), and then a painful punishment from Us will touch them.”

نبأ غَابَ وَحَى كَانَ علِم قَامَ قَبِلَ صَبَرَ عَقَبَ وقى


These are the news of the unseen that We have inspired in you (to Prophet Muhammad Sall-Allahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). Neither you nor your nation was taught before this. So, be patient. Success is for the God-fearing.

عاد أ خو هَادَ قَالَ قَامَ عَبَدَ إِلَٰه إِله غير فتر


And to Aad, their brother Hud. He said, "O my nation, worship Allah; there's no God for you other than Him. (If you make partners with Allah, then) Only you are the fabricators of lies."

“O my nation, I do not ask you any reward for this; my reward is on Him who has given me natural disposition. Do you not then understand?”

تَتَوَلَّوْاْ turn away

مُجْرِمِينَ (as) criminals

قَامَ غفر رَبَّ تاب رَسِلَ سَمِي دَرَّ زَادَ قَوِيَ قَوِيَ وَلِيَ جرم


“O my nation, ask for forgiveness from your Rabb, then repent to Him. He will send you rounds (round after round of rains) from the sky and increase your power to strengthen you. And do not turn away as being criminals.”

قَالَ هَدَى جَاءَ بَا نَ ترك إِله قَالَ أمُن


They said, “O Hud, you did not come to us with clear evidence, and we are not going to leave our gods (just) on your words, and we are not going to become believers in you.”

"We only say that some of our gods have seized you with harm." He said. "I call Allah a witness, and you as a witness that I am absolved from what you make partners."

وَكَلَ إِله رَبَّ رَبَّ دَبَّ أَخَذَ نَصَّ رَبَّ صِرَاط قَامَ


Indeed, I have put my trust in Allah, My Rabb, and your Rabb. There is no living creature except what He has grabbed by its forelock. Indeed, my Rabb is on a straight path.

وَلِيَ بلغ رَسِلَ خَلَفَ رَبَّ قَامَ غير ضَرَّ شِاءَ رَبَّ كُلّ شِاءَ حَفِظَ


If you turn away, (remember) I have conveyed to you what I was sent with; and my Rabb will follow (to replace) you with a nation (generation) other than you, and you will not be able to harm Him in anything. Indeed, my Rabb Guards everything.

وَلَمَّا And when

غَلِيظٍ severe

جَاءَ أمر نَجَا هَادَ أَ مُنَ رَحِمَ نَجَا عَذُبَ غَلُظَ


And when Our decision came to them, We rescued Hud and those who believed in him, with Mercy from Us, and We rescued them from severe punishment.

عاد جحد آ ىي -آية رَبَّ عَصَى رَسِلَ تبِع أمر كُلّ جَبَرَ عَنَدَ


That was Aad; they rejected signs of their Rabb, disobeyed His messengers, and followed instructions of every stubborn tyrant.

تبِع فِي دَنَا لَعَنَ يوْم قَامَ عاد كَفَرَ رَبَّ بعُد عاد قَامَ هَادَ


And they were followed in this world by a curse and on the Day of Standing. Indeed, Aad was ungrateful to their Rabb; certainly, Aad was removed away; the nation of Hud.

أ خو صَلَحَ قَالَ قَامَ عَبَدَ إِلَٰه إِله غير شَأَن أَ رَضْ عَمَرَ غفر تاب رَبَّ قرُب جاب


And (We sent) towards Samood, their brother Saleh. He said, “O my nation, worship Allah; there is no God for you other than Him. He is the One Who raises you from the earth and flourishes you in it. So, ask for His forgiveness, so repent to Him. Indeed, My Rabb is (very) close and Responsive.

قَالُواْ They said

قَالَ صَلَحَ كَانَ رجأ قَبِلَ نها عَبَدَ عَبَدَ أَب شَكَّ دَعَا رَابَ


They said, “O Salah, you were our hope among us before this. Did you come to us to forbid us from worshipping what our forefathers worshipped? We doubt in what you call us to; it is suspicious.”

تَخْسِيرٍ (in) loss

قَالَ قَامَ رَأَى كَانَ بَا نَ رَبَّ أتى رَحِمَ نَصَرَ إِله عَصَى زَادَ غير خَسِرَ


He said, “O my nation, do you see? If I have been on clear proof from my Rabb, and He gave me His mercy, then who will help me against Allah if I disobey Him? Then what you would increase for me is only loss.”

11:64


وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

قَامَ نَاقَة إِله آ ىي -آية ذَرَا أكل أَ رَضْ إِله مسّ سَا ءَ أَخَذَ عَذُبَ قرُب


“And O my nation, this is a she-camel of Allah for you as a sign. Leave her to eat in the land of Allah and do not harm her, or you will be followed with a close (fast, immediate) punishment.”

11:65


فَعَقَرُوهَا But they hamstrung her

عَقَرَ قَالَ مَتَعَ فِي دَارَ ثَلًثَ يوْم وَعَدَ غير كَذَبَ


Then (But) they injured her, so, He (Saleh) said, “Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. This is a promise, not a false misleading (no denying).”

فَلَمَّا So when

الْقَوِىُّ (is) All-Strong

الْعَزِيزُ All-Mighty

٦٦

جَاءَ أمر نَجَا صَلَحَ أَ مُنَ رَحِمَ خَزَنَ رَبَّ قَوِيَ عَزَّ


Then, when Our command came, We rescued Saleh and those who believed with him, with mercy from Us, from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, your Rabb is the Most Superior, Most Powerful.

وَأَخَذَ And seized

And the Shout seized those who were unjust, and then they remained in their homes, fallen on their knees in the morning.

كَأَن As if

Like they were useless therein, is it not that (Truly, Indeed) Samoud were ungrateful to their Rabb, so, Samoud were removed away.

And when Our messengers came to Ibrahim with good news. They said, “Peace.” He said, “Peace.” Soon after that, he came with a roasted calf.

رَأَى يدي وَصَلَ نَكِرَ وَجَسَ خَفَيَ قَالَ خَفَيَ رَسِلَ قَامَ


But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he became suspicious and sensed fear from them. They said, “Do not fear; indeed, we were sent to the nation of Lut.”

11:71


وَامْرَأَتُهُۥ And his wife

قَآئِمَةٌ (was) standing

And his wife was standing, so she became cheerful. And We gave her the good news of Ishaq; and after Ishaq, Yaqoob.

قَالَتْ She said

Qalat
ق و ل
يَاوَيْلَتَىٰٓ Woe to me!

ءَأَلِدُ Shall I bear a child?

عَجُوزٌ an old woman

وَهَٰذَا and this

قَالَ وَيْل وَلَدَ عَجَزَ بَعَلَ شَاخَ شِاءَ عَجَبَ


She said, “O woe for me. Shall I give birth when I am an old lady, and my husband is old? That is a strange thing.”

قَالَ عَجَبَ أمر إِله رَحِمَ إِله بَرَكَ أهَلَ بَا تَ حَمِدَ جَادَ


They said, “Do you wonder about the command of Allah? The mercy of Allah and His favors are upon you, the family of this house. Indeed, He is All Praise, All Glory.”

11:74


فَلَمَّا And when

After Ibrahim's fear subsided and he received good news, he began arguing with Us about the people of Lut.

إِنَّ Indeed

إِبْرَاهِيمَ Ibrahim

لَحَلِيمٌ (was) certainly forbearing

Indeed, Ibrahim was patient, admiring (motivated by affection), and repenting.

“O Ibrahim, turn away from this (issue). Indeed, the command (decision) of your Rabb already came; (that) an irreversible punishment will come to them.”

And when Our messengers came to Lut, he was grieved by them and became anguished, and he understood that the matter was beyond his power. And he said, “This is a crucial (dreadful) day.”

وَجَآءَهُۥ And came (to) him

جَاءَ قَامَ هَرَعَ قَبِلَ كَانَ عَمِلَ سَا ءَ قَالَ قَامَ اِبْن طَهُرَ تقى إِلَٰه خَزَنَ فِي ضَافَ لَيْسَ رَجِلَ رَشَدَ


And his nation came rushing towards him, and they were in the habit of doing evil deeds. He said, “O my nation, these are my daughters; they are purer for you. So, fear Allah and do not degrade me before my guests. Is there no one among you who is a man of integrity (good conduct, righteousness)?

They said, “You already know that nothing is right (suitable) for us in your daughters, and you surely know what we desire.”

قَالَ رَسِلَ رَبَّ وَصَلَ سَرَى هَلَكَ قَطَعَ لَيْل لفت أحد مرأ صاب صاب وَعَدَ صَبُحَ لَيْسَ صَبُحَ قرُب


They said, “O Lut, we are messengers of your Rabb; they will never reach you. So, drive away with your family except for your wife at night break-up, and none of you shall look around (look back). She will be (similarly) stricken with the same calamity that would reach them. Indeed, this (decision) is committed for them in the morning. Is the morning not near?”

فَلَمَّا So when

جَاءَ أمر جعل عَلَا سَفَلَ مَطَرَ حَجَر سَجَلَ نَضَدَ


When Our command came, We turned it over from top to bottom, and We rained down the listed (registered, noted) stones on them in layers (upon layers).

Designated (sinners are identified) by your Rabb, it is not far away from the unjust (it is never far away to identify the unjust).

وَإِلَىٰ And to

مَدْيَنَ Madyan

مُّحِيطٍ all-encompassing

أ خو قَالَ قَامَ عَبَدَ إِلَٰه إِله غير نقص كال وزن رَأَى خَيرَ أ خو عَذُبَ يوْم حَاطَ


And (We sent) towards Madain, their brother Shuaib. He said, “O my nation, worship Allah; there is no God for you other than Him. And do not reduce the balance (measurements) and the weight. Indeed, I see (honest trade), it is good for you, but I am afraid of a day surrounded by punishment.”

وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

قَامَ وَفَى كال وزن قسط بخس أَنِسَ شِاءَ عَثا فِي أَ رَضْ فَسَدَ


"O my nation! Fulfill the scale (measurements) and the weight with justice, do not reduce (merchandise in trade with) humankind in their things (merchandise), and do not engage in wicked actions on earth spreading corruption."

بَقِيَّةُ (What) remains

What is left (remained) by Allah (what Allah made left over for you after honest business) is best for you if you have been among the believers. And I am not a protector on you.”

قَالَ صلو أ مر ترك عَبَدَ أَب فَعَلَ مَال شِاءَ حَلَمَ رَشَدَ


They said, “O Shuaib, do your prayers order you that we should abandon what our forefathers worshiped, or (to abandon) dealing of our wealth how we desire? You are surely the one who is patient and has the integrity of good conduct.”

قَالَ قَامَ رَأَى كَانَ بَا نَ رَبَّ رَزَقَ رَزَقَ حَسَنَ رَادَ أ خو نها رَادَ صَلَحَ طَاعَ وَفِقَ إِلَٰه وَكَلَ نَابَ


He said, "O my people, do you see? What if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me a good provision from Himself? I do not desire to become inconsistent with you in what I prohibit you from doing. I only want to reform according to my capacity. I solely conform with Allah. In Him I trust, and to Him, I return."

وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

قَامَ جرم شَقَّ صاب مَثَلَ صاب قَامَ قَامَ هَادَ قَامَ صَلَحَ قَامَ بعُد


O my nation, do not let your opposition to me lead you to a fate similar to that of Noah, Hood, and Saleh. The nation of Lut is not (located) too far from you.

11:90


وَاسْتَغْفِرُواْ And ask forgiveness

“And ask for forgiveness from your Rabb, then repent to Him. Indeed, My Rabb is Most Merciful, Most Loving.”

قَالَ فَقِهَ كَثَرَ قَالَ رَأَى ضَعُفَ رَهَطَ رَجَمَ عَزَّ


They said, “O Shuaib, we do not understand much of what you say, and Indeed, we see that you are weak among us. Were it not for your group (of associates), we would have stoned you. You do not have any power over us.”

رَبِّى my Lord

تَعْمَلُونَ you do

مُحِيطٌ (is) All-Encompassing

٩٢

قَالَ قَامَ رَهَطَ عَزَّ إِله أَخَذَ رَأَى ظهر رَبَّ عَمِلَ حَاطَ


He said, “O my nation, is the group (my associates) more powerful on you than Allah? And you hold Him behind your back? (turning your back on Him). Indeed, my Rabb has surrounded you on what you do.”

وَيَاقَوْمِ And O my people!

رَقِيبٌ a watcher

قَامَ عَمِلَ مَكُنَ عَمِلَ علِم أتى عَذُبَ خَزِيَ كَذَبَ رَقَبَ رَقَبَ


“O my nation, you do (as you please) at your place, and so I. Soon, you will know to whom will come a degrading punishment and who is the liar. So, you wait; I am with you in wait.”

11:94


وَلَمَّا And when

الصَّيْحَةُ the thunderous blast

فَأَصْبَحُواْ then they became

دِيَارِهِمْ their homes

جَاثِمِينَ fallen prone

٩٤

جَاءَ أمر نَجَا أَ مُنَ رَحِمَ أَخَذَ ظَلَمَ صَاحَ صَبُحَ فِي دَارَ جَثَا


And when Our command came, We rescued Shoaib and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and the Shout (a roar) held those who were unjust, and in the morning, they were fallen on their knees in their homes.

كَأَن As if

Like they never inhabited it, the Madyans (Midianites) were removed, just like Samouds were removed.

وَلَقَدْ And certainly

Walaqad

أَرْسَلْنَا We sent

بِاٰيَاتِنَا with Our Signs

وَسُلْطَانٍ and an authority

رَسِلَ آ ىي -آية سُلَط بَا نَ


And We sent Musa with Our signs and clear authority (proofs).

To Firon and his chiefs, they followed the command of Firon, and the command of Firon was not the right way.

قَدَمَ قَامَ يوْم قَامَ ورد نَار بَأْ س- بَؤُ سَ ورد ورد


He will arrive before his nation on the Day of Standing and take them in the Fire. What the wretched arrival (and the miserable) place of arrival.

وَأُتْبِعُواْ And they were followed

تبِع فِي لَعَنَ يوْم قَامَ بَأْ س- بَؤُ سَ رِّفَدَ رِّفَدَ


They were followed by a curse (in this world) and (also) on the Day of Standing. Wretched is the gift of support (the path they followed).

ذَٰلِكَ That

نبأ قَرَى قصّ قَامَ حَصَدَ


These are the news of the towns; We narrate them to you. Among them, (some) are standing, and (some) are cut off.

ظَلَمَ ظَلَمَ نفُس غنِي إِله دَعَا دُون إِله شِاءَ جَاءَ أمر رَبَّ زَادَ غير تَبَّ


We were not unjust to them, but they were unjust to themselves. Their gods (whom) they used to call besides Allah were useless to them. They availed them nothing when the order came from your Rabb. And nothing increased for them except destruction.

وَكَذَٰلِكَ And thus

أَخَذَ رَبَّ أَخَذَ قَرَى ظَلَمَ أَخَذَ أَ لِمَ شَدَّ


That is the hold of your Rabb when He takes hold of the town while they are unjust. Indeed, His Hold is (with) severe pain.

مَّشْهُودٌ witnessed

فِي آ ىي -آية خَفَيَ عَذُبَ أخر يوْم جَمَعَ أَنِسَ يوْم شَهِدَ


These are signs for whoever fears the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day of the gathering for humankind that is a Day to be witnessed (by everyone).

نُؤَخِّرُهُۥٓ We delay it

بِإِذْنِهِۦ by His leave

شَقِيٌّ (will be the) wretched

وَسَعِيدٌ and (the) glad

١٠٥

يوْم أتى كلِمُ نفُس أَذن شْقى سعِد


The day will come; no soul will speak except with His permission. Then some of them will be distressed and some happy.

11:106


فَأَمَّا As for

Faamma

شَقَّ نَار زَفَرَ شَهَقَ


As for those who are distressed, then (they will be) in the Fire; for them, there will be moaning and groaning.

Living therein forever, as long as the universe and earth (will exist), except what your Rabb desires. Your Rabb does whatever He Wills.

And as for those who are happy, they will be in Paradise, living therein forever, as long as the universe and the earth (will exist), except what your Rabb Wills, a gift with no (limit to) cut off.

11:109

كَانَ فِي مَرْي عَبَدَ عَبَدَ عَبَدَ أَب قَبِلَ وَفَى نَصَبَ غير نقص


So, you shall not be in doubt about what they worship. They are worshipping as their forefathers worshipped before. Indeed, We will surely redeem (compensate) their full portion, with no deficiency (nothing reduced, no inadequacy).

وَلَقَدْ And verily

Walaqad

اٰتَيْنَا We gave

شَكٍّ doubt

مِّنْهُ concerning it

مُرِيبٍ suspicious

١١٠

أتى كَتَبَ خَلَفَ فِي كلِمُ سبق رَبَّ قَضَى بَا نَ شَكَّ رَابَ


And indeed, We gave Musa the Book, but they contradicted it (about the message). And were it not for the word of your Rabb before, it would have been decided among them. And indeed, they were skeptical and in doubt about it (The Message).

11:111


وَإِنَّ And indeed

Wainna

كُلًّا to each

لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ surely will pay them in full

كُلَّ وَفَى رَبَّ عَمِلَ عَمِلَ خَبَرَ


And indeed, everyone will be surely compensated for their deeds by your Rabb. Certainly, He is Fully Informed about what they do.

11:112


فَاسْتَقِمْ So stand firm

قَامَ أمر تاب طَغَا عَمِلَ بصُر


So, stay straight (affirmed), (just) like you have been commanded, along with those who repented and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Acutely (Actually) Aware of what you do.

وَلَا And (do) not

رَكَنَ ظَلَمَ مسّ نَار دُون إِله وَلِيَ نَصَرَ


And do not be dependent (lean) on unjust people, or the Fire will seize you, and you will have no supporter besides Allah and will not be helped.

11:114


وَأَقِمِ And establish

ذِكْرَىٰ (is) a reminder

لِلذَّاكِرِينَ for those who remember

١١٤

قَامَ صلو طَرَفَ نهر زَلَفَ لَيْل حَسَنَ ذهب سَا ءَ ذَكّرَ ذَكّرَ


And established the prayers on both sides of the daytime (Fajr, Maghrib) and close to the night (Ishaa). Indeed, the good carries away (replaces) the evil. That is a remembrance for those who remember.

11:115


وَاصْبِرْ And be patient

And be patient. Indeed, Allah never lets the efforts of the righteous go to waste."

كَانَ قرن قَبِلَ أ و بَقِىَ نها فَسَدَ فِي أَ رَضْ قَلَّ نَجَا تبِع ظَلَمَ تَرِفَ فِي كَانَ جرم


Then why not, associates (companions) before you, who remained (endowed with wisdom) forbade the corruption in the earth, except (only) a few of those We rescued (saved) among them. And (But) they followed (only) those who were unjust and who were prosperous with luxuries of life (they followed only the rich rather than following the righteous), and thus they were the criminals.

11:117


وَمَا And not

Wama

كَانَ رَبَّ هَلَكَ قَرَى ظَلَمَ أهَلَ صَلَحَ


And Your Rabb would never destroy the town unjustly while its residents were righteous.

11:118


وَلَوْ And if

شِاءَ رَبَّ جعل أَنِسَ أمّ أحد زَالَ خَلَفَ


If your Rabb had Willed, He could have made all people one nation, but they would still have differed (in belief).

11:119


إِلَّا Except

وَالنَّاسِ and the men

أَجْمَعِينَ all together

١١٩

رَحِمَ رَبَّ خَلَقَ تمّ كلِمُ رَبَّ مَلَأَ جنّ أَنِسَ جَمَعَ


Except on those, whom your Rabb has Mercy, and He created them for that (to have Mercy on them). And the Word of your Rabb is final: “I will fill Hell with jinn and mankind altogether.”

وَكُلًّا And each

وَمَوْعِظَةٌ and an admonition

وَذِكْرَىٰ and a reminder

لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ for the believers

lilmumineena
أ م ن
١٢٠

كُلّ قصّ نبأ رَسِلَ ثَبُتَ فُؤَاد جَاءَ فِي حَقَّ وَعَظَ ذَكّرَ أمُن


And all (what) We have narrated to you, the news of the messengers, with it, We strengthen (firm) your heart. The truth and advice came to you in this, and a reminder to the believers.

11:121


وَقُل And say

قَالَ أمُن عَمِلَ مَكُنَ عَمِلَ


And say to those who do not believe, “You do (as you please) in your place (according to your desires), and so will We.”

وَانتَظِرُوا And wait

“And wait; We are also waiting (looking closely).”

وَلِلّٰهِ And for Allah

١٢٣

إِله غَابَ سما أَ رَضْ رَجَعَ أمر كُلَّ عَبَدَ وَكَلَ رَبَّ غَفَلَ عَمِلَ


For Allah, the unseen of the universe and the earth, and all the commands (decisions) return to Him. So, worship Him and put your trust in Him. Your Rabb is not unaware of what you do.
